The Neighborhood:
Centrally-located in the burgeoning Midtown Alley Design District, you'll be minutes away from virtually every major destination in the city. Phenomenal dining and nightlife options within walking distance include world-famous Pappy's Smokehouse, The Southern, Urban Chestnut Brewing, The Fountain on Locust, and many more. Here's a little more about the Midtown Alley Design District from the community's website:

“Originally called Automobile Row, Midtown Alley was St. Louis’s prime spot to purchase cars between 1911 and 1955. In 2005, the neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. National Park Service. While none of the original automobile businesses remain, the buildings–many of which were designed by the famed architect Preston Bradshaw–still stand as a reminder of what first made this neighborhood so special in the city of St. Louis.

Today, Midtown Alley is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in St. Louis. New restaurants such as Brennan’s Work and Leisure, Small Batch, and Egg Midtown are opening up next to older neighborhood staples like The Fountain on Locust and Pappy’s Smokehouse. The heart of our neighborhood, however, can be found in the local St. Louis design businesses that call Midtown Alley their home.

Within the past ten years, our neighborhood has entered into a new renaissance, thanks in no small part to the designers, architects, and artists who saw the potential of this seven-block stretch and breathed new life into the area.

Walking down Locust Street, one can feel the creative energy of the neighborhood. New firms pioneering innovative business models are opening their doors next to ice cream shops, modeling agencies, and local barbecue hangouts. This eclectic mix of old and new has become the defining feature of Midtown Alley. As new businesses pop up and students and long-time residents alike flock to Midtown’s residential lofts, there can be no doubt that Midtown Alley is St. Louis’s creative epicenter. Just as Midtown’s past can be seen in the historic buildings lining the sidewalks, the neighborhood’s future is found in the creative businesses that brought these structures back to life.

Brandon’s communication was terrific. I was arriving late and leaving early the next day. I love the place and location. Will definitely be back if my daughter chooses SLU.

My husband and I were in town for a track meet at Washington University. The loft was a quick drive there and was near many of the local attractions. The loft was clean and comfortable. Check in and check out directions were simple and clear. The gated parking lot was well worth the money! It was super nice not to have to search for street parking. The host was helpful and quick to respond when I had a question. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Checkin was straight forward and the host responded promptly to questions. Instructions were easy to follow and the place felt safe. We had no problem finding free parking but were grateful for the possibility of upgrading to secured parking. The neighborhood is interesting and next time we would like to spend more time exploring the area. For the most part, the area was quiet at night but be aware that this is an urban area. It was also great to find a nice place that was dig friendly. If you are looking for a place near the Universities, we recommend Brandon’s lift.

I booked two nights at this property for some Phish shows at the Chaifetz Arena on the St. Louis University campus. The accommodations were clean, convenient, and VERY comfortable. Much more so than a hotel! The property is located very close to campus and to a number of excellent restaurants, including the famous Pappy's Smokehouse and the excellent Venezuelan restaurant Salsa Rosada. Accessing the unit required several steps, but worked without a hitch! The unit is clean and modern. The bed is very comfortable and the unit includes air conditioning, a full-sized fridge, a full-sized stove, and a dishwasher. If you need it, the unit also includes a washer/dryer! The neighborhood is safe and quiet and the property is very secure. The building primarily consists of rental units, so expect to stay with other travelers. Overall, this unit proved to be an excellent option for staying near campus and exceeds hotel standards in nearly every way! I highly recommend this unit for people who need a stay close to St. Louis University and even for those who don't. It was an excellent experience and I hope to stay here again in the future.

We attended a conference at St. Louis University. This apartment was convenient for that. It was quiet and was comfortable while working from home or unwinding in the evening. It has a good set up for cooking if you were so minded. It is also close to The Fountain at Locust and Pappy's Smokehouse if you prefer to eat out!

If you were to look up the apartment location on the internet you might think by the reviews that this building was in a bad location or noisy. They are absolutely untrue. This spot is in a fantastic part of town, quiet and even tranquil. What a pleasant surprise. If you’re thinking about booking DO IT! Fantastic host communication as well.
