Mills Cottage by the Little Lake

the idea of the rental is amazing and it is truly beautiful. It was peaceful, quiet, and we were the only ones there. Unfortunately the property didn’t seem to be cleaned in a while. There were dead cockroaches in the airbnb and in the game room. There was cobwebs all over the airbnb as well as the game room and the gym. The office area room is not actually able to be used like it displays in the photos online. Says you have access to it with the $35 a day and you do not. We wanted to play darts in the game room but unfortunately all of the darts tops were broken off so we couldn’t play.

The property itself is genuinely beautiful, but that is where the positives end. The listing advertised a waterfront view — the lake was completely dried out and had clearly been that way for some time. The unit had a severe odor upon arrival, consistent with mold or sewage, which was never fully resolved during my stay. Breakfast was listed as an included amenity; the host's idea of fulfilling this was leaving single-serve boxes of cereal and Pop-Tarts with no milk. When I raised this, the follow-up was equally inadequate. An office space was advertised with photos in the listing — the host refused to provide access. When issues were raised, the host was responsive but ineffective, and nothing was resolved to an acceptable standard. Vrbo had to get involved in order to get anything resolved. If you are considering this property based on the waterfront listing or the included amenities, please verify both before booking. What is advertised and what is delivered are two very different things. Please see attached photos of dried up lake, and amenity list that breakfast is included, and an office is provide provided with the printer and computer (but host says he does not allow access)

We were not able to use the pool due to the weather but it wasn’t clean , the exterior property is beautiful but has not been maintenance in months

The property is lovely . Very quiet and serene.Property Host was not on site, all communication was dome through the VRBO email site.As for me , to take advantage of the additional ammenities,.... workout area. I had hoped the response was prompt since our stay was for 2 nights.Overall very nice property . Next time I would arrange for the use and additional cost for amenties as advetised to be either paid at time of check in or included in the rental price

Great stay.

Came in for a couple of days and didn’t spend as much time at the property I would have liked to. Too cold to use the pool. Would love to come back to enjoy and relax. In an amazing area of town with stunning houses all around. A hidden gem. Nice and quiet, just as I love it!

Absolutely beautiful grounds! The cottage was very cute and clean. It appeared by the pictures there would be canisters of shampoo/conditioner/body wash available. There was some head and shoulders shampoo, and a bottle of condition, no body wash. All there was, was 1 small hotel size bar of soap. We were not expecting the cottage to be right off of the major highway. Not a big deal but everyone indicated peaceful setting, and it was for the most part, but noisy with a lot of air traffic. Did not use any amenities, but everything looked very inviting! We did enjoy the small lake the property overlooked with birds and turtles. There is another huge lake close by that is within walking distance and had a very nice path around it, that is worth the walk.

The unit was very clean and well stocked with linens, extra towels, snacks, bathroom necessities and such. The area was very nice and we enjoyed the nice grounds. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the bathroom window had no cover and the bed wasn’t that comfortable to me. But with that said, I absolutely do recommend Mills Cottage.

Everything was great. An oasis right in a beautiful neighborhood.

Great amenities. Great location. Great host. Peaceful destination. Loved all the greenery. A lovely “escape” from the northern cold.

Perfectly clean and well appointed. Stocked with nice snacks and coffee which was so nice.

We enjoyed our stay at The Cottage. Grounds are very beautiful, area around pool get a very peaceful vibe. Jerome is a good host.
