Stayed Aug 29, 2025The Sanctuary is a magical place carved into nature where for a short time the weary traveler can rest their body and their soul. The deer, beavers, swans and cranes were excellent hosts. The cabin is spacious, comfortable and well furnished. The human hosts are also gracious and welcoming. I've stayed there twice and hope to return again.

Stayed Aug 5, 2023My mother (73) and my partner and I stayed here while visiting family in the area. I must say we have travelled quite a bit using house shares in our travels…. And this by far was the best we have ever stayed in. Not only were the accommodations excellent, the host was kind, informative and sharing of his unique space and surrounding land. It truly is a nature sanctuary and thru some emotionally high stress travel… this place was a welcomed refuge. As well it was very senior friendly which is a plus for us when traveling with our older parents. We all commented on how refreshed we felt after our stay. Although sad we had to leave, we are grateful we had the opportunity to experience a unique slice of Michigan and will look forward to returning when we come that direction again

Stayed Aug 13, 2021We booked this gem for a last minute getaway for our family before taking our oldest to college. This is a secluded spot not far from town with amazing scenery, birds, wildlife. The night sky viewing is spectacular. Clean, comfortable rooms and space for our family of four. The kitchen is thoughtfully appointed. If you forgot something, the extremely gracious host has already provided it. If you’re looking to get away from it all to spend time in nature, look no further. Short drive to Tawas Bay, Lake Huron, and the Au Sable River.
