Stayed Jan 11, 2026If your goal is to immerse yourself in beachside relaxation, this might be the best spot on Panama’s Pacific coast! It is a rare find in Torio, a spot that’s becoming the next hot destination for Americans and other travelers. For one thing, this home is 30 steps from the beach. For another, the beach here is safe, calm, and sandy. Pretty much all the surrounding resorts require a long, hot hike down to the beach (and then back up). We spent every day of our 3-week stay swimming, boogie boarding, or snorkeling (best done on calm water mornings). The property also has a pool and a platform with two hammocks up in the canopy. The jungle is another thing that sets this place apart. The owners haven’t manicured the jungle. We saw monkeys, coatis, agoutis, iguanas, and loads of birds. In fact, one couple staying here never went to the beach at all. They bird watched for three days. Another couple chartered a fishing excursion and came back with enough fresh yellowfin to feed everyone several times over. In town, there are several wonderful restaurants. We also booked 90 minute massages our last day. Everything is very reasonably priced. You’d spend twice as much on food and lodging in the U.S. If you’re someone who loves nightlife and shopping, get that out of your system in Panama City; then rent an SUV (a must) and come here to completely unwind and enjoy paradise! (P.S. Best hosts ever, and they speak English, Spanish, and French.)

Stayed Sep 23, 2024The seclusion, beauty and privacy of Michael and Lyne's property is second to none. It is simple an amazing and secure place with tons of activities in the area. They are awesome hosts and invited us to participate in many of their activities - including turtle nest hunting and incubation...;) and some 4wd exploring through the many acres of this beautiful area - with spectacular views and wildlife (Cayman, Birds, Monkeys, Turtles, etc..). We are very thankful they make this beautiful property and experience available. We will most definitely be back. Thank you Michael and Lyne!!!

Stayed Jun 25, 2022First of all the house is definitely out of the way but Michael held our hand the entire way and then came to the road and helped us get to the property. But once he showed us the way it was easy to find our way going out on adventures every day and back again. The house was set up with everything that we needed for our stay with a beautiful front porch that we could sit at night and watch the monkeys climb around the trees. The host taught us so much about monkeys in their habits it definitely turned into an educational vacation also. The beach was such a short walk from the unit and once you get on the beach if you saw one or two people you would be lucky. I can honestly say out of all my rentals I’ve done With VRBO Lyne and Michael we’re probably the best hosts. Michael would take time each day to answer any and all your questions you have about the surrounding area. Lyne also made breakfast one day of granola and fruit cup and then when we were leaving had banana muffins so we can eat them on the road. Just try to picture walking out of a dense jungle with all kinds of animals and within 30 feet you’re on a sandy beach watching the waves roll up on the shore. I’ve only been gone two days from their beautiful home and already I’m looking forward to the return trip as soon as I can make it. Tina and Dave

Stayed Apr 25, 2019We had a fantastic time here! The location is perfect! The House is surrounded by jungle and is right on the beach. The suite is airconditioned and beautifully decorated. The property is extremely well kept. The beach is beautiful and empty most of the time. It was ideal for swimming and building sand castles. Our daughters (aged 11 and 13) spent a lot of time swimming and playing on the beach. When they aren't on the beach, the rest of our time was spent swimming in the pool! It is longer than it looks in the picture and even had a deep end for diving. Lyne and Michael were gracious hosts. They were very knowledgeable about the area and were willing to answer our questions and point out local wildlife. We saw capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, toucans, lizards, iguanas and even baby caiman crocodiles. They were our favourites!! Breakfasts were excellent and filling. Lyne and Michael helped us to arrange for surfing lessons at a nearby Beach. We had an excellent vacation. Thank you very much for sharing your piece of paradise with our family!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We loved our stay here. The location is remote and off the beaten path. The room was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The property is beautiful. Beach is fabulous and pictures don't do it justice. Breakfast was great and Lyne went out of her way to accommodate my dietary needs. She also cooked us a diner and made us a special vegan dessert which was delicious and so thoughtful! Both Lyne and Michael are really wonderful people that we felt instantly comfortable with. They both were both so fun to get to know and did so many little things that just made our stay so wonderful, they're great to talk to, so informative and they just can't do enough to help, you just feel right at home. This area of Panama is truly untouched and absolutely gorgeous. We would go back in a heart beat and the long drive from Panama City airport was part of the adventure and definitely worth it. You will love it here!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We absolutely loved our stay at Lyne and Michael’s guest house. Our family of four (including our two daughters ages 9 and 11) stayed in their upper guest house for four nights. Their house is tucked away in the jungle only 30 steps from the beach. There are only a couple of houses on the beach, so most of the time we had this gorgeous sandy beach completely to ourselves. Our girls loved playing in the waves, digging in the sand and beach combing. We also used Lyne and Michael’s boogie boards to play in the waves. In the afternoons, we would spend some time reading in the hammocks or taking a dip in the pool. Every evening we watched fabulous sunsets at the beach, since the beach faces west. The guest house was incredibly clean. We slept on a comfortable king size bed and the girls slept on a double bed. There was a large bathroom with a large tiled shower. The kitchen has a full sized fridge, toaster oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, and two element hot plate. Outside is a two element gas grill. We typically cooked our own supper and ate lunch in the nearby village. This is a bed and breakfast, so every morning we ate Lyne’s delicious breakfast next to the pool. She was very responsive to any dietary issues or food preferences that we had. A family of monkeys came to visit the property twice while we were there and Michael taught us how to interact with them. Lyne arranged a snorkeling morning for us off the Cebaco Island (the man who took us picked us up directly on the beach in his boat and we brought our own masks and snorkels). Lyne also arranged a surfing lesson for us at a nearby beach with Ezekiel. He was an excellent instructor and we all had a blast trying to catch a few waves. My daughters were naturals at surfing. I am not not a natural, but still had fun. For lunch we would eat typical Panamanian comida plates in Torio or other nearby villages. The lunches were $15-$35 US for the four of us. We would highly recommend this rental. It definitley exceeded our expectations. Lyne and Michael are incredible hosts.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We and our three daughters (15, 18 and 20 years) stayed 12 days at Lyne and Michael´s place and we all loved it. The house is set beautifully in the jungle just 25 meters from a pristine and virtually deserted beach - I believe we saw six other people on the beach during our stay. The house is very comfortable and well kept and each morning L & M served a great breakfast in front of the pool. (On Christmas eve we even had some champagne to go with the orange juice :)). Lyne and Michael are great hosts - very nice people who are helpful if you need info about restaurants in the area, help with arranging things like renting a boat, booking surfing lessons and so on. If you´re looking for a top notch place set in a beautiful and tranquil place look no further! Thx for a great stay and hopefully we´ll be back in a not too distant future! Jens and Maria Vahlquist

Stayed Dec 31, 1969If you are looking for private, secluded retreat in a tropical jungle paradise, look no further. From the beach being a stone’s throw away from the private guest house to the romantic sunsets, this B&B met and exceeded our expectations. This hidden gem, tucked away in the Veraguas Province, is an outstanding vacation destination that's worth every bit of the drive. In fact, the drive from Panama City was an adventure and allowed us to experience and view the country through the lens of a local resident. Lyne prepared a delicious feast every morning that fueled our three days of exploring, relaxing, and unplugging from the lightning pace of everyday life. Nothing beats enjoying a hearty breakfast with the soothing sounds of the ocean and wildlife in the background. I can still hear the waves crashing against the lush, natural, black sand beach. Overall, Lyne and Michael’s hospitality was first class. From the day of our arrival, they checked on us to ensure we made it safely, provided us with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, and shared their vast knowledge of the local area. Michael was very thorough when it came to helping us navigate the area and know when and where we could see the exotic tropical wildlife. Our only regret is that our stay was entirely too short. We look forward to revisiting Lyne and Michael's little slice of Panama paradise where we will have to extend our stay to at least six days!
