ADU Piedmont side of Montclair

Fabulous place! Gail and Greg were welcoming, kind, and very responsive. I thoroughly enjoyed my 8-night stay in their modern ADU which is situated in the beautiful hills of Oakland's Montclair neighborhood. The ADU is generously resourced and offers a tranquil, very clean, and cozy place to land. Montclair Village (with restaurants, groceries, and shops) is only a 5-minute walk down the hill and there is easy freeway access. I would happily stay here again!

I feel like I’m on a relaxing retreat every time I stay at this very special place. Greg and Gail are wonderful hosts who provide a wonderful atmosphere. Communication is quick.

The Back Forty was perfect for our stay! Well-located, beautifully appointed. The bed was super comfortable and the hosts Greg and Gail (and Chewy) were lovely and incredibly hospitable. The check-in instructions were clear and check out was easy, too. Overall a 10/10!

This was my second stay at this terrific place. It is superbly designed and equipped.

We were delighted to find this super clean, well supplied unit available within a mile of our family in Piedmont! It is a separate small building at the top of the gorgeous garden in the backyard of the main house. We had anticipated parking being a problem, but it wasn't! During the day it is a little more limited than in the evening though. The space was practically new and just right for two adults. The kitchen was tight but well organized - with special coffee machines if you are coffee drinkers. Laundry machines were under the counter in the kitchen - great to have! If you are very short, you will need to use the supplied step stool to reach some cupboards. Great lighting and wonderful windows made this place special. We hope to return to this perfect little spot on future trips to Piedmont/Montclair!

The ADU could not have been more comfortable. It was just what we needed to visit nearby family and still have our own space. Fully equipped, lovely outdoor space and gfacious hosts.

Very quiet and private considering it's location in fairly dense residential environment. All the amenities worked great. Very comfortable.

This is a lovely, comfortable, clean and well supplied home away from home. The hosts are welcoming, available if needed and genuinely interested in making your time there enjoyable.

We enjoyed the jacuzzi!! the neighborhood was so nice and quiet. The host was very polite, friendly and attentive. I would book it again. I had an amazing time.

The property was lovely. The architecture, setting, and design of the interior was tasteful,upscale, and comfortable. Our hosts were friendly and hospitable, even Chewy, their dog! The best!

Greg and Gail’s ADU exceeded our expectations. The listing is accurate, and doesn’t do the property justice! I almost hate to write this review because I don’t want this listing to be booked the next time we are in town! The ADU is conveniently located near restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, you name it. Everything is within walking distance. Greg and Gail are wonderful hosts! After spending three weeks in their unit, we feel like we have gained new friends. My boyfriend and I got engaged while there, and Gail and Greg joined us in celebrating with a bottle of champagne. Their thoughtfulness can also be felt in the unit with all of the amenities and personal touches. My fiancé and I definitely hope to return in the future!

This place is exactly as described with many nice touches. The hosts clearly want you to feel at home. I had a great stay.

Staying here was like my own high-end, relaxed treehouse. Designed with beauty and efficient functionality, you are immediately comfortable and settle into your private world for your stay. The open floor plan features an entire floor to ceiling wall of windows which slide open to a wooden deck. The view is devoid of houses and with the slider open you hear the neighboring birds calling out. It was the perfect sanctuary for me as I oversaw the last week of my house renovations – escaping chaos for private calm. The kitchen was stocked with high quality implements every cook loves and the range was a dream. The meandering path up to the ADU provided a vegetation exploration of fun trees, plants and veggies – eye candy for gardeners. And if you are lucky, you will occasionally bump into Greg, Gail and/or Chewey for a quick chat (and pet in Chewey’s case) – great way to start the day! It is a short walk to Montclair Village providing easy access to varied restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, essentials (groceries, banking, drug stores) and even spa services! Wonderful hiking along the ridge of the East Bay hills is fantastic through the park system. And San Francisco is ~25 minutes away if so inclined. This location is on my “keeper list” for visitors… or even a getaway when I need it again.
