Feels like Grandma’s ranch house….We enjoyed the secluded, all-to-yourself feel. It is in the boonies - which is a plus if you are really trying to get away. Wide open sky - turn all the lights off to witness stars galore… it was dark enough to see satellites rushing and shooting stars streaking across the sky… stars are a big attraction. House is well stocked and the property manager is awesome!!! Side note - you gotta love the outdoors to be comfortable here. Various hoofed animales came visiting - lots of reptiles - fun times. I would definitely stay here again.

We all agreed that we would stay at the Cattleman's Headquarters again. There was so much room for our group of 10. The home is eclectic with a mix of vintage and new furniture and artwork. Some of the bathrooms have been updated nicely, some appear original to the home. The water is very mineral heavy and so most of the shower heads were clogged a little in some way and spraying in crazy directions. We were able to get some of them cleaned up and in better working order. A good vinegar or CLR soak or cleaning would do the trick. There are multiple functional kitchen areas with Keurig’s in each. There’s a large indoor eating area, a screened in porch with a patio table, and a long outdoor table for eating outside. I would recommend bringing comfortable outdoor chairs with you. The property is on a septic system and we were asked not to flush any paper products, even toilet paper, which was interesting. There was an option to have a personal chef cook dinner for the group, which we signed up for. Unfortunately, the chef had a family emergency and was unable to be there, but Madeleine was so responsive and immediately sent us options for local restaurants and even made reservations for us for an alternate open. We really appreciated this help. We stayed in the area for a family wedding, so didn’t have much time for exploring the ranch or city but hopefully will be able to get the family together again to come back out to explore the area and enjoy the property to the fullest.

Everything about our stay was exceptional! The proximity to Big Bend NP, the atmosphere... just perfect! The property manager was also very helpful. I highly recommend The Cattleman's Headquarters to everyone looking for an authentic western adventure.

Everything was great except for the driveway leading up to the house; it’s 1.5-2 miles to the house. Two cars got flat tires due to the rocks and rough terrain.

Lovely farmhouse on large working ranch. Access to 3 working kitchens that were well stocked with plenty of bedroom linens.
