Stayed May 24, 2026Enjoyed our stay very much! Nice and quiet location and perfect spot to relax. Super comfortable beds, everything nice and clean. Did have Internet connection issues but understand location. Would have been nice to have a smart TV to watch movies. Lovely family hosts and plan to go back!

Stayed Mar 10, 2026First of all is the homemade banana bread that awaited our arrival- delicious. you can get into Gila Forest through a gate, but the cottage is between two houses so you do not get the forest secluded I was hoping for. Also internet was very weak making calls and basic internet services untenable. good value for money

Stayed Jan 9, 2026Shirley was a great host and the place was just what we were looking for this weekend. We really enjoyed our stay, with an incredible view of the stars right out the front door. The cottage was perfect for my friend and I; and the banana bread that welcomed us was fantastic!

Stayed Dec 22, 2025The cottage was nice, but there was no toilet brush and no full-sized refrigerator to store our food! There was no iron or ironing board, and no full-sized stove to cook on! The hot water in the shower ran out once as well! There was only one wardrobe, but there was not enough space inside for suits, coats, or dresses! We enjoyed the isolation but we did not realize how poor the dirt road was that led up to the property! Overall, the cottage was quite nice! Shirley was awesome and the hospitality was great; however, we are used to having a few more basic amenities!

Stayed Jul 2, 2025There are no words to describe this host or the property. If I could give a 10 Star I would. First Shirley and her son Brian were like family by the time we left. They shared their beautiful yard complete with setting areas, and their sweet dog Bailey. Both made sure more than once we had everything we needed and were comfortable. Our dogs were able to check out every inch of their property all without a leach, loving it. The cottage was very relaxing and comfortable. their property was so relaxing and quiet. Coming from Phoenix we loved having screen doors so we were able to have a breeze flow through. We will definitely be returning!

Stayed Feb 24, 2025Looking to explore near Gila Cliff Dwellings, then this is an excellent choice. Hiking trails literally out the back gate or drive a few miles to check out some great trails. Cliff dwellings are less than an hour away with lots of trails along the way. Great hosts with Brian being an amazing ambassador for the area. Thanks to Shirleyfor the homemade treat on arrival.

Stayed Oct 28, 2024This lovely efficiency cottage is more attractive by the warmth & thoughtfulness of the hosts, Shirley & Marty. The cottage is well-appointed, quiet, has large windows for volumes of natural light, & provides easy access to the bordering Gila National Forest for walking trails (the hosts even offer walking sticks/poles to borrow). The Mimbres River valley nearby was also shimmering with fall colors. Choose The Cottage for comfortable lodging while exploring this national wilderness area.

Stayed Sep 20, 2024The property is beautifully put together. You can’t help but admire everything around you. The cottage is beautiful, from the build to the antique decorations to the beautifully crafted stained glass. We enjoyed every bit of our stay and even enjoyed the wildlife around the area. It’s one of those places you wish you didn’t have to leave. We will be back again.
