Stayed Jun 25, 2025This is a very old house that has been very nicely renovated on the inside with very excellent fixtures and decor. The inside is quite large and would be perfect for a large group. All bathrooms are on the main floor; no bathroom on the second level. The cleanliness was outstanding. The exterior of the house looks ramshackle. We weren’t sure it was the correct house. No address numbers or name posted and so so diskempt. The house is badly in need of renovation on the outside, including badly overgrown shrubbery, rotting steps and deck, and mostly sand for a yard, not the grass shown in the photos. The house is not “serene” as described. It is encircled by Jerry’s Marina and sits right on the edge of the marina parking lot. Each morning trucks pulled in and parked right next to the bedroom windows. So loud. Our view from the other side of the house out the dining room windows was old docks stacked high into the air and covered at least a block of the lot. The view from the front of the house was toward Lake Huron but you couldn’t really see it. There is a small body of water directly in front of the house where the marina parks their pontoon and other boat rentals as well as wave runners which are pulled up onto the lot. The shrubbery also blocks a lot of the view. The marina, however, is convenient for ice, snacks, firewood and ice cream as their store is only a few feet away. There is no laundry in the house although posted. Good location so close to state park and town.

Stayed Jun 1, 2025We stayed at The Whitehouse and had a wonderful time. It was still early in the season so we didn't have to contend with traffic or lots of tourists. We had the marina to ourselves and enjoyed every moment.

Stayed Oct 17, 2024House was nice. Good bathrooms. We wish the king sized bed was in one of the first floor bedrooms. We loved being that close to the park! The dog friendly beach was a bonus.

Stayed Jun 17, 2024This is one of the best properties we’ve ever stayed at! It was great for our large group and had everything we needed. We could walk out of the front door and go fishing and swimming whenever the kiddos wanted. Overall just a really great place!

Stayed Jun 9, 2024The inside of the house was nice with plenty of room for me and my three adult children to spread out and we enjoyed our stay.....inside! However the outside of the house was less than desirable. The shrubs were overgrown over the side porch and on the lake side obscuring the view of the lake from the deck. We were very conscientious about picking up after our dog, however, the backyard was covered with goose droppings. Although we had hoped to enjoy time at the beach, unfortunately (or fortunately) the weather didn't cooperate. We were forewarned about the marina equipment occupying part of the sandy path to the beach but we were surprised to see big tractors on the beach and directly in front of the house working on the rickety dock. I chose this house for the serene lakefront location but it felt a bit like we in a construction site. Needless to say we spend most of our time in the house or in town, but overall we enjoyed our time inside the very comfortable house. I'm sure when the marina construction is done and the yard is given some TLC it will be beautiful!

Stayed Jun 14, 2024We had a wonderful visit to East Tawas. The physical location of this house is great - walkable to Tawas Point Park and a quick drive into town. The VRBO property's yard was unkept; the shrubs were overcrowding the front porch and the grass that you had to walk thru to get to the lakeside entrance was quite tall. As stated in the listing, this propery is nextdoor to a marina, but it appears to share the property with the marina - there was a lot of marina equipment in piles on both sides of the property. Once you get past all that tho, the view of the bay is quite beautiful and we did get a huge flock of geese each night that came to visit the yard, which was incredible to watch. Inside the house is clean, and cared for. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of towels provided, and the kitchen supplies were adequate. There were no food staples - salt, pepper, cooking oil, etc at the property, and the outdoor grill grates were pretty rusty looking, so plan accordingly if you will be cooking. Overall a nice stay.

Stayed May 14, 2024Great sized house for our group of 6 and suited our needs of being close to tawas state park for the birding very well! I gave 4 stars on check in and communication because we had a hard time getting into the house and I couldn’t get ahold of anyone for some time but once we got in, was all smooth sailing!
