Freeport, Maine
Welcome to Talbot Way Cottage! Beautiful water views from every room, wood floors, open-beam ceilings, huge fireplace, wrap-around deck. This house is intimate and romantic while the views on all sides bring in the outdoors and give it an expansive feel. The view looks across the harbor to a state park with woods and meadows. You can watch sailboats and fishing vessels as the tide comes and goes. The sunrise sparkles on the water and the sunsets turn it a deep pink. This private view is constantly changing and is so relaxing to watch! The cottage has a dishwasher, in-sink disposal, ice maker, washer and dryer. There are two new televisions, cable, 2 DVD players, book and movie library, board games, and free WI-FI. Seasoned firewood is provided. There is no hotel in the area with accommodations like this! Enjoy the excellent snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the area. Lobster is available year round.
We provide two single person kayaks. Bikes, stand-up paddle boards and tandem kayaks for rent down the road. We can help you arrange your touring activities. The area provides infinite possibilities for the nature lover, boater, historian, art lover, birdwatcher, stargazer, golfer or shopper. We can help you arrange lighthouse trips, eco-tours, lobster bakes on islands, whale-watching, kayaking, rafting, farm visits, museum trips, windjammer cruises, drives to the mountains, berry or apple picking, skeet shooting, archery, hiking and catered meals at the cottage. You can walk to a dock-side lobster and clam restaurant.
There is something to do every season, lots of different kinds of restaurants and shopping. This cottage is 5 minutes from the famous LL Bean store (open 24 hours) and surrounding outlets and art galleries. We also live nearby and one of us is usually in the area so you can be sure to be well accommodated. We can help with rental car arrangements, trip planning, provisioning ahead of time (just email your shopping list) and anything else you might need. Our cottage is our favorite place in the world and we want it to be your's too!

The property owner was so helpful and sweet! She answered all our questions promptly. The house itself was a bit smaller than expected. We also thought it would be easier to go out on the water, but it was low tide anytime we were at home. It was still beautiful and so fun to sit on the porch in the mornings. You can easily travel into Freeport, Portland, and Cape Elizabeth. Only negative were a lot of insects in the property, but I suppose that is to be expected when staying near the water. Would recommend especially to families. Great value at a low cost!
Great location and views!
Nice storybook cottage by the Ocean with great views.
Everything was great. It was so charming, quiet, but minutes from so many places. The house showed exactly as the pictures, beautiful wood floors. We want to stay here again with family, we had no issues at all. Communication was great and easy with Susan. We came here with a couple friends from down south who have never been to Maine, so we wanted to be somewhere close to breweries, restaurants, and sights, but we also wanted something to stay at that was relaxing, and a cabin on the lake feel. This was perfect. We have absolutely no negative things to say at all about this home.
We had a great time. Peaceful! Our only suggestion is a new coffee pot and dining room light needs new bulbs. Neither effected our stay in any way, we had a wonderful time.
We enjoyed a lovely week in Freeport. The location and water view were our favorite parts of the house. (Less than 20 min to Portland!) You can watch the water for hours and enjoy the boats, sunsets, and birds. A few things to keep in mind: While there is an incredible view, not a place to swim (it's a mud flat). I would classify this rental as rustic and well-used. The kitchen needs supply upgrades. For example, there was a 4 cup coffee pot that leaked. Why not a regular 8 cup Mr. Coffee that works like a champ? We also weren't impressed with the cleanliness. All that being said, I would rent this house again!
From her prompt replies, quick responses to question, and checking in with us during the week, Susan is a wonderful host. This quintessential Maine cottage is perfectly located for most of your Maine coastal activities. We were just minutes from Freeport shopping, close to numerous picturesque fishing towns, and only a couple hours from Bar Harbor and Acadia. The cottage is situated among the trees as you can see, and is a delight in the morning as the sunrise greets your deck. Good sized rooms, everything you need in the kitchen, and enough deck seating, we sure enjoyed our time at the cottage. Thank you Susan for providing a home location for another memory-making family vacation!
The cottage was perfect for our family summer vacation! We come to Freeport often to visit family, and it was lovely to have a place to relax and decompress.
We loved it! Great location! We enjoyed the deck, kayaks and fire pit! The house was clean and comfy. Thanks Susan!!
Classic Maine cottage in a quiet spot with an incredible view from the wraparound deck. Convenient to all the local sights and amenities. Excellent communication with Susan (the host). It was peaceful watching the tides go in and out, feeling the breezes, hearing the bird songs. And it's true what they say about moonrise over the Harraseeket - it's magical.
