This excerpt from the City of Albany's web page tells about our wonderful area.
The Monteith Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 29, 1980. The time period of significance for all of Albany's historic districts was expanded in 2000 from 1849 to 1915 to 1849 to 1945 to capture resources and architectural styles constructed between 1915 and 1945 that reflect the growth and development of Albany. The Monteith District was expanded in November 2008 to add 78 properties on the southwest corner of the original boundary to include a cohesive collection of early to mid-twentieth century residential buildings. Many distinct architectural styles grace the District. Included are Federal, Craftsman, Classical Revival, Gothic Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, French Second Empire, Stick, Eastlake, Colonial Revival, Rural Vernacular, Transitional Box, Bungalow, American Renaissance, Depression/WWII Cottages, and eclectic hybrids that combine elements of these styles.

We enjoyed a restful five days in the comfort of the lovely Vine Street Cottage! It was the perfect place to rest up after holiday madness. Lee Anne is a responsive host and provided clear instructions for check in and check out. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed—the photos *almost* do it justice! We used it as home base to do some day trips to other spots of interest in the Willamette Valley, and enjoyed getting to know Albany itself by walking its streets. We look forward to our next visit!
We really loved Lee Anne’s wonderful studio. Just the right size for the two of us. Close to downtown in a quiet neighborhood great for long walks. All the amenities were provided. We are looking forward to our next stay in the summer when we can sit out on the comfortable deck, grill and enjoy a glass of wine.
Clean and well equiped, we used the cottage as a base to explore the Willamette Valley. Top marks
This is a charming historic cottage home renovated just right. All the charm of its history with a modern twist. It’s a very cozy spot for 2. We really enjoyed our stay. The owner is great as was her communication regarding our stay. We would stay again.
I enjoyed my stay thoroughly! Everything was immaculate and anytime I needed anything it was already there within hands reach. It’s an adorable cottage and beautifully decorated! I will definitely be back, thank you!
This property was everything we could hope for our stay in Albany. It is in walking distance of several coffee shops, restaurants, parks,.... We were visiting our grandchildren who live in Albany and this was the perfect place to stay. Everything you could want while staying at a vacation house was at your fingertips.
This property is a little gem. I only wish I had found it years earlier. It is comfortable, well appointed and in a great location.
I really enjoyed my stay in this beautiful cottage! It had everything I needed and then some! Lee Anne was absolutely the best host! It was a wonderful place to stay!
This place is cute, nicely decorated, quiet, and just what we needed while we visited family in and around Albany. It is just as advertised and the host was welcoming and helpful. If you are thinking of staying here, do it.
The property was amazing. The location was walking distance to downtown Albany and a 20 min drive to Corvallis. Our hostess provided orange juice, coffee, creamer, yogurt water and home made banana bread that was delicious. The cottage is well appointed and very comfortable. I highly recommend this rental.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Vine Street cottage. The cottage is tastefully decorated and well stocked with all necessary items for the stay. The hostess was very attentive to our needs.
