Pros: - Overall, this is a cool cabin (note, it's a side building separate from the main house) - Close to town, - The size of the room/kitchen/bathroom was just fine for a quick weekend stay - The shower is amazing (one of the pumps with liquid did not work) - Communication with the owner was fantastic - Easy to get into - Plenty of parking in the driveway - Clean - Kitchen was basic, but had what we needed Cons: - Probably the worst mattress I've ever tried to sleep in (very squeaky). We also tried to sleep on the couch and that wasn't any better - and we can normally sleep anywhere - the entire bed set-up should be replaced if you're renting this out as a place to sleep (it's fixable) - The deposit was outrageous - there was a charge on my credit card for a very large sum of money for 3 months (when I booked) - our stay ended on 9/21 and I still won't get the deposit back until 10/5. The owner says he has no control of the deposit amount.

Was not pleased with this property for several reasons: the mattress is terrible, old and very noisy for even the smallest move. Extra pillows are heavily stained yellow. The kitchen area is not pleasant, not like the picture on Expedia, and no room to prepare anything. Utensils are more loke a collection of stuff from the drift store. Only a small table with damaged, shaky chairs (not safe). There is a sofa, but no coffee table. Lots of spider webs. 5 bulbs burned out. The bathroom area is the only decent place. Shower big, and nice. Worst: besides being not cheap, Vrbo actually charges several thousand and call it “hold” when in fact they charged it on my credit card account on 8/1/25 (booked room on 7/31/25 and according to Vrbo they will only refund it on 9/4/25! I had to physically pay the hold (a credit hold reduces the available credit on your card). Also, it will take 1 ½ months to get the credit, caused by the billing cycle. All this makes this property a no go for me for the future

This property was clean and well-located. However, communication from the host was limited and he ignored my request for an earlier check in. It was a chilly and rainy weekend in Lake City, and the gas fireplace heating unit was disconnected from the gas line. There was a small space heater which was insufficient for the unit. Water in shower was warm but never hot, and ran out after one shower. The kitchen mini stove/fridge (one unit) was unplugged, and there was a sign warning not to run more than one kitchen appliance at once, or it would trip the breaker. There was an instruction on how to access the breaker in case this happened, but the 'man and dog painting' that the breaker was behind was not a man and dog painting at all, but a modern print. Confusing. All in all disappointing for a place that we paid over $600 for 3 nights.

Perfect for our needs. Not a place to cook, but we didn’t plan on cooking.

Advertised a patio. There was no patio, no outside chairs or table. No Tv, the host said there is no tv because he wants guest to enjoy the mountains. After dark there’s not much to do except go eat or go to the tavern. The bed and couch sound like crunching plastic when you move around on them.

Only one roll of toilet paper for five days only two towels and two rags. Mold in the shower. Seen a few small spiders not a big enough trashcan for outside for two houses to share!! Needs more sheets and pillowcases if you’re gonna use the pullout couch. Other than that neat little place.

Cute cabin, shower nice and large, vanity nice. Six light bulbs were burned out upon arrival, no light in closet, and heater stove does not work. The tall step up into bathroom and down into kitchen is way too tall. Kitchen too small and cramped to use. Seems like furniture was missing, no nightstands at bed (we dragged over dinette chairs), no coffee table or other table to put stuff on (we dragged in our own portable camping table). Attractive curb appeal but we'll stay somewhere else next time.

Lake City Guest Cottage was just as advertised and we enjoyed our stay. Bring your own chairs to sit outside as there are none provided.

Loved the cabin. We would have enjoyed a TV for the evenings and wished the corner fireplace worked but it was overall enjoyable, clean, and was satisfied.
