Clean cottage with a beautiful garden. I was in town for a conference so basically only slept there, but it would be great for vacationing.

The house was great for visiting our daughter at Cal Poly. We loved the convenience to SLO while being able to walk down the beach/waterfront. Morro Bay is great as well for restaurants and shopping. The house itself was clean, well-appointed and really comfortable. The space/neighborhood is quiet as well. I would definitely recommend staying in The Cottage!

There are always two sides to every story. I’m sure what I’m saying will be refuted, given the times we are living in. The pictures don’t paint the whole picture. It looked like we’d have a private outdoor sitting area, which was important, as we knew the unit was quite small. However, it is instead a courtyard in-between the main house and the rental, and the two-story main house looks directly down on you. The courtyard lights are great and very luminescent. Unfortunately, there is a strict rule they must stay on 24/7. As you can imagine, this makes it very difficult to sleep. This rule should really be mentioned in the property details. The beds are very uncomfortable. Efforts are made to counteract this with very thick, soft mattress tops. The bathrooms without of window does not have any ventilation, which would normally be OK, but with the smallness of the unit, the smell goes everywhere. We were supposed to be there for six nights, but because of these issues we had to leave after the first night. That is when Dianne started to get mean and retaliatory. Thank goodness for credit card companies, because Dianne is still holding over 500 of our money. She will say was not obligated to refund us at all, so we should be thankful for any money at all, but why would you want someone staying at your place who is not happy to be there. She may have been able to avoid this review as well, if she hadn’t done that. Unfortunate across the board.

A brutal heat wave made it the perfect time to explore Morro Bay. Temps during the day topped near 80, and the evenings cooled nicely. Dianne and Rich are exceptional hosts, and the Cottage was just as described: clean, quiet, well-outfitted, and an easy walk to the Embarcadero. We brought our own coffee and coffee grinder since that's our preference, but ground coffee, filters, cocoa, and sugar/creamer were all available. A very nice Albertson's is just a few blocks away. Dianne and Rich's restaurant recommendations were excellent (we particularly liked The Galley for an upscale seafood dinner and Thai Elephant.) The garden is envy-producing!

A short walk to the bay, shops, restaurants, and very close to 101 so we could easily get to SLO, Pismo to South, and right on the 1 highway for other neighboring cities. Nice vibe. Owners are in front main house. Excellent communication throughout. There is a binder full of ideas for just about everything. Super clean. Garden is heavenly.

Every year for the past few years my husband and I look forward to our stay at The Cottage. Everything from the welcoming front porch to the comfy, cosey interior is just perfect for a nice get away. The location is great, easy walk to town, the embarcadero, the rock, several good restaurants and coffee shops. And a short drive to Montana de Oro, SLO, the farmers market in Los Osos, the elephant seals in San Simeon and many other places to explore. The hosts, Dianne and Rich are the best! We'll be back in 2025!
