Stayed Dec 29, 2025This was our 3rd New Year at The Cottage at Tideswell. Have absolutely loved staying here. We had a fabulous New Year break. The property is spacious and well equipped. A few issues the first time we stayed which were dealt with promptly and the property was updated and redecorated prior to our second visit. Beautiful village, perfect location (10 steps to the Co-op!), 3 pubs and 2 restaurants. Really friendly people and walks straight from the doorstep. Be aware that if sleeping in the front bedrooms the church bells do chime every 15 minutes. I struggled to get off and woke early. Considered returning next year despite some negative points but Christmas and New Year already booked!! The level of cleanliness in the cottage this year was not up to standard. We found rubbish under tables and sofas that clearly hadn’t been moved during the cleaning process. Bits of rubbish were also found down the sides of sofas and chairs. Also hard floors had not been cleaned properly into the corners. Very disappointing. Not sure if the cleaning company has changed.

Stayed Jul 18, 2025Really lovely house - looks just like the photos. Great space for family/friends as the kitchen is open plan with a good sized island and dining area. Sitting room space is also great. Amazing location in the centre of beautiful Tideswell with pubs, restaurants and shops all in walking distance. Some people have mentiobed the church bells but rhey did not bother us at all - just adds to the character and village feel. Bedrooms are comfortable and a good size. We all had a very lovely stay.

Stayed Sep 5, 2025The communication from Finest Retreats was excellent. The information about the cottage was accurate. The information booklet in the property was very helpful. The location was perfect and the property was very comfortable. The complimentary biscuits on arrival were greatly appreciated. No kitchen roll or spare toilet rolls. No hand soap in the ground floor toilet. Ground floor shower partially blocked, and very slow to drain away.

Stayed May 24, 2025We had an amazing stay at The Cottage! Tideswell is the perfect location to stay in - easily drivable to other great Peak District locations. It also has a few great pubs and restaurants/ shops within walking distance. We found it really handy to have the co-op so close by. The Cottage itself was cosy and we felt like it was a home away from home. The beds were really comfortable. The only thing to note would be the parking, there is no allocated space, it is all public parking. This sometimes meant we had to park far 5 mins (ish) away and walk, this was no problem for us, but something for others to note!

Stayed Apr 8, 2025Place was located well in centre of Tideswell. Good character cottage. Parking can be a problem out front as there is limited space. A few minor issues such as limited instructions for heating controls and some items/ areas in the kitchen were not clean but nothing major and we dealt with it ourselves. Overall, would stay again.

Stayed Dec 28, 2024Our second new year in the Cottage and really pleased with the upgrades to the bathrooms and bedrooms. Absolutely no issues during our stay which was lovely. Spacious accommodation in a perfect location. A heat resistant glove for use with the log burner in the lounge would useful as the handle gets extremely hot during use. Also a pair of tongs to add logs to the fire would be helpful. The kitchen knives weren’t sharp and perhaps need reviewing and replacing on a regular basis. Impossible to carve the new year roast

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The location was perfect with many walks and was close to Bakewell. The cottage was pristine and we felt right at home with the cosy feel and comfortable beds. The only downside was the bells chiming every 15 minutes so would definitely recommend ear plugs if staying in the front two bedrooms!

Stayed Oct 4, 2024The house was absolutely perfect, lots of space for everyone, including the dogs. My only complaint was tge lack of cooking pots and serving plates, plus there was no plates/cups etc for small children when there was a cot and stair gate so i would expext those extras.

Stayed Sep 18, 2024A lovely spacious house well positioned in the middle of Tideswell. Clean, tidy and well decorated, and a great base for exploring the Peaks. it was just what we needed for a short family break. There appears to be a leak from the upstairs bath, possibly due to a loose bath overflow, that leaks out from under the bath on the floor near the door.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024Great size to cater for our party of seven. The outside courtyard at the rear needed tidying and cleaning generally. The kitchen tap isn’t fixed to the sink and requires a plumber to tighten it. There were splashes of liquid to the cupboard side which had not been cleaned. Also the fridge door doesn’t close properly and requires adjustment.

Stayed Aug 19, 2024The property is spacious, and nicely decorated. It’s calm and a homely space to return to after a day out. The location is very beautiful and convenient. It’s excellently placed for pubs, cafe, supermarket next door open all hours, and some nice walks from the village. It was great that soap is provided. Fresh mint outside the front door was a bonus. It wld be nicer to have the main dining room window cleaned. A bigger coffee pot for a house that sleeps 8 people.
