Do you need to get out of town and get-away from it all (job, phones, noise, traffic, people), but camping just isn't your thing
Our 600 square foot casita is just an hour southwest of Roswell, New Mexico. We can promise you little to no traffic (maybe 4 or 5 cars a day…if you're lucky), no cell phone service (unless you walk up to the top of the hill or have wifi calling on your phone), wifi available nearby. There is an abundance of wide open spaces to hike or bicycle (horsebackriding is available at $50.00 an hour/per person with a 2 hour minimum, by appointment only with Kim), loads of peace and quiet, and an occasional visit from the local wild life. Feast your eyes on the cattle and sheep grazing on the distant hillsides and savor the beautiful New Mexico skies that spread like a canopy over it all. The nights are spectacular as a blanket of stars unfolds, unhindered by intruding lights.
The warm and welcoming casita has a fully equipped kitchen plus a barbecue grill (charcoal or gas). Feeling adventurous There's a campfire cooking area where you can grill a cowboy sized steak or toast a marshmallow! Just don't forget your food…it's a long drive to the grocery store (steaks or other available cuts of 'Chesser natural' beef or lamb are available for purchase upon availability)!

After a long day, the comfy queen-sized bed beckons and promises a restful nights sleep. The loft area has two twin beds, and the sofa turns into a queen sized bed to accommodate more guests. The casita has a full bath and a washer and dryer to meet your needs. Relax on the covered porch and enjoy the outdoor picnic table.

If you want to experience the hinterlands of New Mexico, this is the place for you. Well-off the beaten path, it's in the middle of the Chesser Ranch, a beautiful, quiet place literally miles and miles away from civilization. Directions to the ranch included an 8-mile, 20mph stone-road in (from the Roswell direction) and a 19-mile 20mph stone road out (south to US70 toward Alamogordo) for us. The route out took us through a number of ranches and over cattle guards and the wildlife and views were incredible. The only word of caution: if you have a low-slung sports car this route may be difficult. Chesser Ranch is a working ranch with horses and goats and a some cattle, but don't let that dissuade you. If you want to get back to nature this is the place. The moonlight night gave way to more stars that we thought possible. A roaring campfire complimented the experience. Kim/Patricia provided precise directions (we advise you follow them as GPS is spotty). The Casita is off to the side of the compound and is absolutely perfect with a well-stocked (kitchen, bath, etc), and inviting. Spoke at length to Kim a couple of times and he's a true rancher, kind, informative and gave us a lot of local flavor/history. 10/10 would stay here again! Thanks Chesser's!

This property is a dream! We had the best view of the stars, cooked over the fire. We wished we could stay longer and very highly recommend it!

Secluded and unplugged. Prime location for Carlsbad Caverns, Roswell, Lincoln National Forest and White Sands if you don't mind the drive. Our hosts were excellent with communication and were very friendly and respectful of our want for seclusion. There is WiFi and a smart TV but if the power goes out you will not have cell phone service (exactly what we were looking for). The flies were a little intense but understandable given the cattle and livestock on the ranch. The Casita was well stocked with basic supplies and toiletries. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommend booking the Casita!

Had a lovely time at the casita. Patricia was kind and the property is so cute. The connection is spotty on the way there but the directions provided made it a breeze. Can’t recommend enough

Our stay at the Casita was an amazing experience! Beautiful, quiet place to stay, relax and get away from it all. A true ranch with beautiful sunsets, farm animals, coffee on the front porch and many places to hike and take in your beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed every aspect of this countryside. Our hosts were gracious and it was a pleasure to experience the nice accomodations that was offered. We hope to go back again in the near future. It's a must try for all!!

Our group of four had a very enjoyable time during our stay at the ranch. The drive in was a little tricky, and the roads a bit bumpy, but that was a small price to pay for an authentic ranch experience. We would definitely recommend this to future travelers. I would also recommend traveling via truck/small SUV for piece of mind!

We chose this location because we are from Colorado and wanted to get away from winter for a while. And we just needed a break. It fit the bill perfectly.

With everything going on in the world it was nice to escape to this remote property for some much needed R and R. The ranch had the sweetest baby lambs and horses. The owners were very kind and nice people. We will go again for sure!
