Loved our stay here! The house was very maintained and the owners and property manager take pride in making your stay wonderful. Binder outlining everthing plus starting you out with paper products/cleaning suppiles and fresh linens/towels made the vacation a easy transition into relaxation.
just as listed on VRBO sight. house had everything we needed nice and clean. contact with everyone was quick and easy the light above the stove was out and property manager was willing to come out the following day to replace if we wanted it done. short walk to the dock for fishing and crabbing crab pots supplied. we did not have any luck fishing or crabbing but probably due to the time on year. great place to get away
Positives - The cottage was beautiful - perfectly clean and exactly what we needed in terms of space. Having two rooms was so great. The view was beautiful. The communication with the owner and manager was great. Downsides - that are not the fault of the vrbo cottage, but rather just the location (that I'm only saying to make sure you're aware, because I booked last minute having done no research) - 1. SO buggy. We went in August, I should have known. But no amount of bugspray worked to not get eaten alive every time we went outside. (Maybe they should get a thermocel thing for the patio?). We couldn't really take full advantage of the dock/deck for this reason. 2. I did not realize there would be so many jellyfish in the water, and was disappointed that even though we had this private dock/beach, you really could not even put your feet in the water (also tons of crabs). When viewing the pictures, I just imagined walking my two year old right up to the water to put her feet in. Again, my fault. (I was even a bit nervous kayaking!) 3. It's right off the highway on an unpaved road. I really like going on walks, but there's nowhere for you to walk. 4. Very secluded - which might be exactly what you're looking for. I didn't mind that the grocery store was 25 minutes away. But I thought there would at least be a local ice cream shop or something, and there was not. We drove 15 minutes to get gas station soft-serve. Overall, the house was excellent. Sunrise was beautiful.
If you want remote and quiet this is the place. Fantastic sunrise goes perfectly with coffee or Bloody Mary! Wildlife is abundant and kayaking was perfect. Close to home for us so a perfect break in a very hectic year. There were 4 in our party and accommodations suited for that.
Home is absolutely adorable and well kept, we loved the kayaks and going to the little private beach. The views are amazing - such a relaxing weekend!
The property was clean and superbly located. We left a day early due to the incoming weather but definitely a memorable trip.
We stayed at this cabin for a weekend fishing trip. The location and property were both excellent. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this place is a great option.
The property is located right on the water in a small community, but it is isolated (which is partly why we chose it) The house is clean, the furnishings and linens are superior, the beds are comfortable (memory foam) and the kitchen is well stocked. The view is just relaxing. As others have said, it is a drive for a full service grocery store so stop on your way in. We didn't have the best weather but were able to enjoy the fire pit for a couple of hours one evening. To eat locally, there is POV (more upscale) and Courtney's (decor tired, service spotty,,,,,but on my, the food was the best. Caught fresh that morning by Dad, cooked by Mom and served by daughter). We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and plan to return.
This place was absolutely beautiful. The view of the water and the proximity of the eagles nest was definitely a highlight. The property sits off the road and tucks back up in a wooded area with plenty of wildlife but close to any amenities you may need. Having kayaks and crab traps and as also a plus. We definitely enjoyed our trip.
Communication with the Property Owner and management was excellent. The home had almost everything we needed and was decorated nicely. Very comfortable sleep. Minutes from State Park where we enjoyed the beach, lighthouse, and activities. Crabbing off the dock at the property and Kayaks were fun! Enjoyed bird watching. Would recommend this stay.
We enjoyed our stay ! The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfy. We really had fun setting the crab pots and to our delight caught four “keepers” which we cooked for dinner appetizers and were delicious. There were hundreds of fiddler crabs near the dock. Kitchen was fully equipped with new appliances. We savored our coffee in the morning on the deck watching the sunrise and numerous birds. Also saw two fawns at the entryway. Appreciated exploring the State Park and other local historic sites. Thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage with us !
We very much enjoyed our stay at this wonderful beach cottage. It’s spacious, with a great view and surrounded by lush forest and wildlife. We’ll definitely be back!
We stayed for 3 nights and it was wonderful. The cottage was clean and inviting. We took the provided kayaks out, did some fishing, and tried our hand at crabbing. There were hundreds if not thousands of baby crabs running all over the banks of the creek and we had a blast watching them! They only thing we'd do different if we stay again is bring groceries. There are a couple of restaurants about 10 mins away but all the other major shopping and food places are about 25-30 minutes away. The kitchen was stocked and spacious so I loved just hanging out at the cottage and cooking whenever. We would 100% stay again!
Beautiful home with a great view.
Beautiful scenery! Lots of wildlife. Especially birds. 2 American Bald Eagles with a big nest close by. Got to see them every day! Linens provided. Nice! Provide gas grill and gas fire pit with propane provided. That is rare. Also kayaks and life vest. Crab traps provided to go crabbing off dock. Use chicken necks. You can get those at Ridge Market about 4 miles away. Or Buzzys country store also close. Get your groceries coming down. Weis Market about 20 minutes away. Unless you don't mind driving about 20 minutes. Cell phone signal is sporadic but tolerable. Water has suffer in it so get bottled water for coffee. Ok for shower and dishes. Pros far outweigh to couple of cons. Quiet and peaceful with beaches and point lookout state park less than a mile away. Confederate memorial is also in the park. Prisoner camp that help 52,000 plus prisoners. History and breathing space to unwind. Very satisfied!!!
Lovely property. Very clean and nicely furnished. We enjoyed our time kayaking on the water and grilling on the deck. Only warning is that there is definitely not a ton of phone service or internet available but this was known prior to arriving. We will be staying here again when crab season is underway.
