The fully equipped Cottage is privately located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley and short walk to the Cowichan River and Provincial Park, where nature abounds. From inside the fully fenced yard, seasonally, you can watch Elk herds in the field, Black bears harvesting native berries, or simply enjoy birdwatching, or sit in the hot tub listening to the chorus frogs on an evening. The river boasts amazing hiking trails, cycling routes, swimming, fishing & tubing or you can watch salmon running the Skutz Falls fish ladders. The cottage is the perfect hub to see all things Vancouver Island!
Please note, for stays longer than 3 nights, the cleaning fee increases to $140 per stay and our nightly price is based on double occupancy, with a $20/night charge for each additional guest.
The space
The cottage has a private and peaceful patio for enjoying the sun, sunsets, BBQ’s and wildlife watching. We have recently added a pergola over the patio and a hut tub! Inside the cabin is an open concept living area, dining area and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas range, microwave and full size fridge perfect for memorable family dinners. The bedrooms boast brand new beds; comfy queen-size bed in master and double bed in second bedroom, and a newly renovated bathroom with heated shower floor and luxurious rain head shower. The cottage is uniquely decorated with one-of-a-kind, creative design concepts. There is free, strong Wi-Fi and a 60 Smart TV.
Guest access
Guests will have full, private access to the cottage via coded entry system and the secure and fenced (approximately 1 acre) yard and the hot tub. There is ample parking for two vehicles and/or recreational vehicles.
For outdoor fun, there is access to two mountain bikes, two snow shoe sets, a four person pedal boat (seasonally on our main pond) and a regulation size Bocce set. You are also a short walk to the Cowichan River and its world class trails. The Cowichan River is well known for swimming, cycling, tubing, white water kayaking and fishing. Indoors there is a yoga mat, books, games (such as Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Cranium and more), playing cards and puzzles to name a few.
Other things to note
The entire property is named RockBridge at Skutz Falls for the unique landscaping on the (mostly level and cleared) 5 acre property which prominently features use of the old wooden Skutz Falls logging bridge and the many, many rocks all picked from the property itself. On the property is this cottage, the Main House, Workshops, Sawmill and two ponds. One of the ponds has active jumping Rainbow trout!

The cottage is uniquely and beautifully decorated, and very well maintained. We had a spacious fenced terrace that opened to nature, and we even watched a bear while eating our dinner. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The best part is that this place is far from the noise and light pollution of the cities, surrounded by nature sounds, yet it is still a very short drive to Lake Cowichan village.

Very clean and inviting cottage. Everything we needed was there and functioning properly. Very homey and comfortable. Great place to get away from it all. Hosts are super friendly and approachable. An Elk herd visited the pasture next to the cottage a few mornings. Property is fenced-in, so no fear of wildlife coming right to the house.

We had a wonderful stay, the cottage was clean and above expectations. Our host Julie was amazing as she helped me arrange to have flowers for my wife waiting upon our arrival. We will definitely be back!

This is a gem of a property, if you're looking for something quiet, serene, and a little off the beaten path. The cottage is perfect - well-appointed, comfortable, and stocked with everything you need (and some things you didn't know you needed, like a bocce set!). Julie is the consummate host and made us feel so welcome and looked after. We cannot recommend this property highly enough - even though we should't, because we have big plans to come back as many times as we can and would be sad to miss it on our next trip out because YOU booked it! :)

Lovely, well equipped, clean property & wonderful host. Amazing place to get away from it all, though lack of cell service can pose a bit of frustration when trying to map out destinations. Restaurant options at Lake Cowichan are very minimal and not great, so plan on driving at least 20-30min to find more. The nearby river is SO beautiful and excellent for swims, a river float & hikes.
