Understanding I was staying at the barn to get away and focus on work, the area was beautiful. I enjoyed looking out of the large sliding glass doors to the stream and meadow beyond. Neighbors were a bit noisy but most people would not be working and staying at the barn all the time. The hosts were VERY responsive. Nice place and very convenient to the lake and beautiful mountains!
Our family very much enjoyed Da Barn! It was neat to learn about the age of the barn and what great condition it is in considering the age. It was the perfect combination of cabin settle in nature, but still having all the great advances of modern ease. Wifi was great! Even though it's about a 15 minute drive up the mountain, all the roads were safe and newer.
After traversing some amazing twisty roads. We arrived to our quaint 300+ year old barn. We were welcomed by the local Llama across the babbling creek. Took a bit to find the lockbox for the key. Once we went inside it felt welcoming and cozy. Just enough room for my family to spend Thanksgiving there. We turned on the heaters, which quickly warmed the entire house. We were a bit toasty. I filled the bird feeder, in which drew more of the cute wildlife over to say hi to us. Like the birds, squirrels and chipmunk. Neighbors were great. Cashiers is just under 20min away but the real treat is shopping in Highlands. The home has plenty of windows/sliding doors, most of which do not have curtains. Tub/shower takes you back to when times were simpler. We had rain one night. The sound of the raindrops on the metal roof were tranquil. Plenty of yard for the dog to run wild but also has a designated spot for them to go potty. It’s fantastic for a family, or a romantic getaway. Highly recommend a stay here.
We enjoyed this unique home. It was rustic but was well appointed.
We loved our stay at “Da Barn”. Great spot for family vacation in the mountains. The house is very comfortable but could use a deep clean. There is no air conditioning so having screens and fans is important. Many windows and patio doors had broken screens or none at all. The ceiling fans all need balancing, they wobble even at slow speeds. The owners left so much food In the freezer that it all came tumbling out when we opened he door. There is considerable road noise and the showers don’t work well, but the bathtubs are amazing and the well water is wonderful. I would still stay here again. The house is charming despite the abov complaints.
there was fesses on the toilet so that clearly showed that they weren’t wiped down. When using the bathroom there were spiders coming out of the toile. When I went to clean the toilet seat, there was urine stains on the seat
Foul odor from a dead rat which was found behind couch in the bedroom that was rotting in a live bait trap. There was inadequate paper towels and toilet paper also trash bags, had to purchase our own. There was only 4 rolls of toilet paper, 2 rolls of papers towels and only 3 trash bags for an entire week. The pictures listed on VRVO show that the deck from the loft which was unaccessible due to rotting boards. Listing also stated cabin was secluded which is it not. It is located on a corner of the street by the main road. Car lights in windows all through out the night. No privacy in any of the rooms. Houses were up above the loft that can see through the doors of the balcony. No curtains or covering on any of the sliding doors in the loft. There is also fire wood that is listed which is not there. Parking is limited and not recommend for large trucks or SUV’s. NOT WORTH THE COST
Perfect spot to relax and have fun in a quaint, cozy, and unique cabin! The creek was perfect for my 3 yr old grandson to play in and our dog to chase tennis balls. Really enjoyed our stay!
We had a great time! The cabin was right on a creek and the cabin was spacious. Great trip
This property has some great things and some not so great things. The good: Beautiful location. Nice, big yard. Good porches. Lovely little creek running through the yard. And the cabin has nice old 'bones.' The not so good: The cabin is DARK. Really dark. It rained much of the time we were there so we were stuck indoors. There is nowhere near enough lighting in the cabin. The few lamps there are put off almost no light (dark red shades over dim bulbs, for instance) and there is very little overhead lighting. In the bathroom, the overhead light didn't work and two of the three vanity lights were burned out. There's also a need for some area rugs -- both in the main part of the house and also the main bedroom, which has a cold concrete floor. If the owner bought a few lamps at Target, and a few area rugs (probably a few hundred bucks total), this place would be vastly improved. All of this said, we enjoyed our time sitting on the porches overlooking the creek, and driving around the area.
