Far from the crowds and Condos... Far from the noise and tourist traps... There is the old Hawaii of HANA, a small community overlooking beautiful Hana Bay on the windward east end of Maui. Hana is cooled by the trade winds that blow across the Pacific and nourish us with evening showers that make this part of Maui lush and tropical.

As you travel the magical 'road to Hana' you leave the real world behind and slowly enter the land of old Hawaii, with waterfalls, majestic coastal viewsand jungle rain forests. By the time you arrive in Hana you will sense a slight change. You will feel a slower pace, more peaceful and quiet.

As you follow the private drive through the tropical flower garden to our secluded Tradewinds Cottage, you will discover the Hawaii that you came to see.

Our two bedroom, one bath cottage has just been beautifully remodeled. It features a full kitchen with granite countertops, a gas range, microwave and coffee maker. The cottage has a queen size bed and two twin beds. It has satellite TV, DVD player, plus wireless internet access.

This vacation rental is fully permitted. Permit #STHA 2018/0001, SUP2 2012/0034

**NOTE: There is no longer a hot tub at this cottage. You may see the hot tub mentioned in reviews but it was removed during the recent remodel.

This was a nice place in Hana. Everything was as described. We came after several strong storms and it was all very green and pretty. Lots of mosquitoes which is noted in the listing. Hana itself was not what I expected, but this place was nice.

We had fantastic stay. The beauty of the both the home and it's surroundings live up to the pictures in the listing, which is a rarity! The kitchen was well stocked with all the basics and then some. Linens plentiful. Beds comfy. Tons of windows to open and enjoy the sounds of Hana - birds and wildlife, leaves rustling. My family of three spent many hours reading and hanging on the lanai. Directions for arrival were thorough and easy to follow. Checkout was a breeze without any complicated cleaning instructions.

Beautiful place to stay. It is your own little slice of peaceful rainforest. The kitchen is a complete kitchen. Loved the fact there are beach towels. You will get use to driving the Hana Highway. You must have banana bread and pizza from Hana Farms and visit Maui Gold chocolates.

This was a lovely cabin in the tropical forest of Hana. It was the perfect spot for an overnight going to and from Hana. There are a few local spots to eat nearby as well. There’s no AC but the cabin had plenty of fans that it was still cool with the windows open.

Felt like staying in the rain forest :-)We loved staying in this lovely, green and clean cottage. Strolling around the garden with our kids was lots fun. The house is equipped with everything we needed as a family. The large lanai was great to be outside even when it rained heavily. For us it was perfectly located to reach hikes and beaches around Hana. Would definitely recommend the cottage!

Beautiful property that fit our party of 3 perfectly. The location is close to Hāna but also wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Thank you for leaving boogie boards - we enjoyed using them! There is no AC at this property and it did get warm at night, but the hosts provided several fans and it cooled off by morning. A ln outdoor grill would have made cooking nice, but the kitchen is beautiful and had everything we needed. Would stay again!

We loved this house. Although it's not far off the road, it feels your in the middle of a lush tropical rainforest. The house was well furnished and the kitchen had all the supplies we needed. There were two boogie boards available for guests but there aren't many waves around Hana. One minor complaint is that it would have been helpful if there was a welcome binder with information about the house and the area.

We loved the property, the location was close enough to the town of Hanna, and Paia but still as peaceful and calm as it gets. The home was updated inside and very clean, we loved the evening breeze and the large eaves on the roof that allowed the windows to stay open even during the evening rain showers. Wi-Fi worked great, and beds were comfortable. One big bonus which our family loved was the little black cat who hung out in the front yard and porch. He was as friendly as can be, and never tried to get in the house, he just hung around out front. The girls loved petting him and feeding him.

I chose this listing because it was on a flower farm and seemed in a quiet area. I never saw an actual flower farm but was immersed in the landscape. We were the only guests around and it was peaceful. It rained each night and morning we were there. The only negative for me was no air conditioning. I guess I missed that part in the listing. The host was very responsive and sent me information a month ahead. This cottage is also centrally located to many things to see and do!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The property is set in the middle of a tropical paradise. The tropical flowers and trees were stunning! We enjoyed morning walks in the yard simply admiring the beauty. The home is just far enough removed from the hustle and bustle to be quiet and peaceful, but close enough to drive into town in a few short minutes. The kitchen and bathroom were well-supplied. There was plenty of space for suitcases in the closets and the fans provided great airflow. The porch was a great place for morning coffee and mimosas! We highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future!a few short minutes.

We had a very relaxing and peaceful experience in the botanical garden. Waking up to jungle vibes and sounds was worth the stay in Hāna. We were so close to our day trips to Black Sand,Beach, Red Sand Beach, Hamoa Beach, and the Hasegawa General Store. We made it to the Gulch and Bamboo Forest- which was beautiful. The Seven sacred pools are not swimmable and were kind of stagnant and unable to get to safely anyways. Waterfall was not very active at this time. There’s also an outdoor store and pizza spot literally on the main road from the turn off to the cottage. It was all lit up under bamboo construction and was poppin’ on the weekend with live music. The only thing we could say would have made this a better experience would be some string lights on the patio to enjoy at night. Maybe so it isn’t available to track more bugs? But the porch is a gorgeous place to hang out. undbamboo

This cottage was my favorite stay I’ve had in my entire life. The location could not have been better- secluded in the tropical jungle, but easily accessed. Very close to the beaches. It is right across the street from Hanna Gold, and the owners there are the nicest people I have ever met. The cottage was spotless and larger than expected. It was nice and cool with the tradewinds. The sound of the jungle in the morning is an incredible experience. The backyard had Lilikoi (passion fruit) all over the ground, which was fun to open and taste. The only downside was we couldn’t stay there forever. I hope I am lucky enough to get back there one day.

We liked the rustic nature of property as it was in the rain forest in Hana. Gave the right vibe for our 2 night stay. I will say that we had an issue with tiny little black bugs that got either through the screens or in an imperfection in fit. Similarly, the screen on slider door had a patch in it that did not fit tightly, likely contributing to the bug issue. Was quite warm while we were there - think a ceiling fan in master bedroom would be nice. These are just opportunities to improve not a reason to avoid the property. If you are looking for an authentic in the woods location with good amenities, this is it.

We loved our stay at Tradewinds Cottage! It was beautifully secluded, which is exactly what we were looking for. There was WiFi and a number of apps to select from on the TV, but who needs TV when you can enjoy the breathtaking vegetation? I spent hours just walking around the yard and identifying the different plants. I had thought I booked places for our vacation that had AC. This cottage did not, but with the windows open and the couple of fans that were provided it was not uncomfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. I packed our lunch and snacks for our adventure through Hana and cooked our breakfasts. This place was perfect if your looking for a quiet, secluded getaway!
