Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Located on Sturgeon Bay this cottage gives the beauty of Lake Michigan and Door County. The incredible lake views, sandy beaches and colorful sunsets can offer a retreat or provide a home base for exploring Historic Sturgeon Bay and Northern Door County. Swim or just walk the beach. Hike through the near by Door County Land Trust or walk to the Light house. Watch birds and wild life then take a short drive into charming Sturgeon Bay.
Lots to do outdoors! Wine trolley tours, art antiques and great food!
House was very clean and had a great view from living room to lake. had no issues and enjoyed our stay. As in previous reviews, yes the bathroom was small but not a big issue. We were a little taken back by the security deposit requirements not given until after booking. We have booked many places with VRBO and never had to take a $150.00 insurance policy for security to cover damage(non refundable). the only other option was to have a excessive hold on card of $5000.00 deposit which could be deducted from at owners discretion. This should be posted before you accept $$ for a non refundable booking. Poor business policy! also covid rules still in place. need to bring own towels/sheets/ blankets/pillow cases ect. did not see that on web site.
The property is accurately listed. Just a quaint cottage on the lake Michigan shoreline! The bathroom is VERY small so for someone with mobility issues this may cause a problem but it works. With this property all I have to say is location, location, location we spent every morning out watching the sunrise on the beach, going for long walks with our dogs along the coastline, and evenings having fires or relaxing having a movie in the house (satalite tv was another option). Downtown sturgeon bay is just a 15 min drive with many local parks, canal nature preserve is within walking or a short drive, and the furthest attractions are less than a 50 min drive from the house so this place is awesome when it comes to being a great location! We will be coming back thank you to everyone for an awesome stay!
Excellent place and location. Would definitely come back again!
Lake Michigan is literally right outside the window. The view is amazing. Walking the peaceful beach, listening to the waves as we fell asleep, examining the beautiful rocks that washed up-perfect! The place is quaint and rustic but we like that. It was clean and adequate for our needs. We were grateful to be able to bring my dog. I highly recommend the Peninsula Players, only 30 minutes away. The hiking in the state parks is wonderful. The location is perfect! We will book this place again.
My Wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It was everything we needed. The beach is right out in front of the house. There was a tv and a bottle of wine for us to utilize when it rained. Would definitely recommend.
Ready for a place that is truely what dreams are made of!?!? Well this is the one anyone say location location location. You are right on the beach like 50 feet out the door and you are on beautiful sandy beach wading in the waters of Lake Michigan (just a little bit of paradise)! The house is an older lakeside retreat so with that comes a SMALL bathroom and tiny bedrooms but the pros way out weight the cons when it comes to this place! Kay was amazing and I was able to reach her with any additional questions and was able to extend my stay (come on we did not want to leave)! Only thing to share with potential new visitors bring your own water even our pups did not want to drink the water (it’s well water) we just brought some then headed into town to pick up some more. Overall enjoy your stay you are close to all the door county attractions!
This is a cute little cottage with amazing views and lake access.
Great view, but the cottage needs to be deep cleaned, updated, linens added, and needs air conditioners added. It was a fun vaca spot otherwise though the deer flies are biting at this time of year. The owner is extremely nice and the location is perfect.
This cottage is 100% what lake cottages were, Once Upon a Time. In today's world, it's a bit like glamping. A quiet, tucked away, one-lane neighborhood street, right across from the beach, campfires at night and breathtaking sunrises in the morning: Who could want for more? I suppose someone who's expecting posh accommodations. If that's what you're looking for, keep looking. If, however, you're someone who enjoys simple, old-fashioned style lakefront stays, this place has that kind of charm. It wouldn't be a terrible idea to replace the old couch and even though the living room chairs (though they look new), none are very comfortable if there's some rainy days during your stay. That said, neither is being stuck in a tent all day. Again. 'glamping'. The bathroom is teeny-tiny, as other reviews have mentioned, but unless your grooming needs are elaborate, it does the trick for a quick shower and personal needs. For the price and the location, I've no complaints that would keep me from booking this cottage again for a quiet, lake-front getaway. To our hosts: a cheese grater and a colander to drain pasta would be useful in the kitchen. 3
Location was the best part, however the pictures definitely make it feel more secluded than it is. There are neighbors very close both directions. This property needs a rake because there a lot of dead small fish that wash up and the beach is unusable until it's cleaned off. We had to use beach toys we brought with us to clean off. I knew the water would be cold but it was hypothermic cold. The DVD player does not work. The fridge freezes your food depending on where you put it in the fridge...needs to be replaced. I had read reviews about the bathroom previously but it really was like a camping/camper bathroom...also needs to be updated and the shower head needs to be replaced...you can barely wash your hair. I still gave this property 4 stars because once the beach was cleaned off the kids had a blast playing on what was mostly a private beach. We had a campfire right on the beach which was one of my favorite parts of our stay. Just like most others have said, location would bring me back but would love for the property to be updated. Hosts were very accommodating as well.
I am writing this review not to be negative at all, I am writing it to help future guests. The cottage was small but it fit our large group of 7 (4 adults, 3 large teenage boys) just fine. We picked this area to fish and brought a large bass boat and there was absolutely nowhere to park it. Luckily our neighbors were so accommodating and let us use their space. It says it sleeps 8 but there were only 3.5 (1 broken) outside chairs, there were 3 cups in the kitchen, no can opener and could definitely use some more bowls for preparing food. There is a charcoal grill but the lid does not stay shut while cooking. Also no outside hose. We sleep with fans and brought 3 but there were plenty of fans there. Like I said, this is just to help out future guests with how to pack. The view is amazing, everyone was so nice and plenty of things to do in town.
We were pleased with the property, it was just what we needed! The view was great and there was enough space for everyone. We had 2 kids, 4 adults and 1 dog. The kitchen was stocked with any tools we could have needed for preparing our own meals. The bathroom was small but it was fine for us, even at 6 months pregnant! I would definitely rent this property again, the owner was available and great to work with. The private road is great and we went during off season so it was not busy at all! We were there mid May.
