Stayed Jul 13, 2024We have had many rentals with VRBO - this is the first one which has not been 100% positive. The cottage is small, but attractive in a fantastic hillside location with a stunning view. But there was building work going on in the adjacent property. Parking was on the dirt are behind that property and shared with the builders. Our shoes got instantly dusty. Some of the building debris had made its way onto the grounds of our villa; A construction block, rusty wire, a discarded water bottle. The plunge pool would have been welcome but was filled with floating insects. We didn't have a net, and the bugs were not going down the overflow trap. So we ended up using it only once after the housekeeper had cleaned it. It was unusually hot during our stay. The air-conditioning was welcome, but couldn't cool the upper part of the house where the bed was. My wife found it difficult to sleep. Perhaps a fan? Unusually, there was no provided welcome pack. So we had to text the housekeeper to get the wifi codes. On arrival, the coffee machine still had the grounds from the previous tenant. A bottle of water would have been welcome. Driving to the villa from town was challenging, on steep twisty roads with poor paving and dirt sections. Not everyone will enjoy this. Don't rent a large car! The property manager was sympathetic. She did offer to solve some issues. We still had an immensely enjoyable holiday and none of these minor issues spoiled our stay.

Stayed Sep 12, 2020Rustic, comfortable and well equipped inside and out. Close to everything, town, bars, restaurants and beaches. We even enjoyed the challenge of the drive back up the steep hairpins. Only 20 minute walk into town and a good work out coming back! All very relaxing!

Stayed Jun 7, 2019The holiday cottage is in a lovely peaceful location. The views of the harbour are terrific, The only issue we had was the bedroom, it has very low ceilings, but would stay at the cottage again.

Stayed Aug 17, 2018Relaxed,scenic,secluded,romantic retreat. To stay at Lemonia Cottage is idyllic, even just for a short time. The accommodation was well equipped and definitely had a home from home feel.Having a pool is a luxury and much appreciated during the heat of the day.The views are fantastic and to sit on the terrace watching all the activity in the harbour over a glass of wine became a habit at 5.00 pm.It is also a great place for star gazing and butterfly spotting. The arrival gifts were a very thoughtful gesture and were all delicious. Cindy who meets and greets was very friendly and helpful. Just make sure you have car hire arranged to collect on arrival in port just a few metres down the road. I would make this a definite recommendation if you are looking for a break away from life and am certain we will be returning.

Stayed Jul 20, 2018Villa Lemonia was just what we were looking for: a secluded hillside hideaway for two, with charm and character, a pool that was just long enough, and a view to die for - over the olive groves to Skopelos harbour and Alonissos beyond. Each day started with Greek yogurt and watermelon on the vine-covered terrace overlooking the view, serenaded by an orchestra of crickets. We then moved to any of the comfortable seating areas that Renee had created - a beanbag here, a sunbed there - and immersed ourselves in all the reading we'd been saving up. There was a 'Skopelos pie' waiting for us (feta & filo) in the fridge, a bottle of prosecco and some apricot jam that Renee had made using apricots from the garden. Lazy lunches were followed by even lazier afternoons in the garden, surrounded by palms, lemon trees and bougainvillaea. The garden was also dotted with colourful Moroccan artefacts and lamps. Not only did the house look pretty, but everything worked efficiently: from the Wi-Fi to the rainforest shower to the automatic garden lighting. We ventured out a few times: to explore the churches, alleyways and gorgeous little shops of Skopelos; to the beach at Limonaria; and to the 'Mamma Mia' chapel in the north of the island. Each evening we tried out a new taverna, either in the town or sometimes a little further afield. Lemonia was just the perfect place to be. Like all the best things, Lemonia was quite hard to reach. Our 4WD Suzuki Jimny from Magic Cars (not the newest of vehicles) ground its way up and down the six steep hairpin bends between the ring road and the house, frequently stalling on the turns. Parts of the track were unmade-up and pretty rough. It was a bit of a boneshaker and took practice! - but we did gradually get used to it. The only other thing that wouldn't be for everyone was the spiral wrought-iron staircase up to the mezzanine bedroom. It looked pretty but required a bit of care to negotiate. Cindy and Alex, the neighbours, who manage the property and also run a restaurant called Gousto in Skopelos Town, were terrific. We would definitely recommend this lovely place and hope to return one day.
