Stayed Sep 29, 2023This tiny, off the grid house is well appointed, the air conditioner worked great (although I only needed it the first night), and the bed was firm and super comfy. Read the directions carefully. If you think you are lost because you are driving through the middle of a cornfield, don’t worry. You’re not. Just keep going. This house is literally in the middle of a cow field and I loved waking up to them grazing just past the fence each morning. Make sure you read the instructions for the composting toilet. It’s not hard. It’s just different than you may be used to. I didn’t use the TV, microwave, or stove because i spent my days at JMU. Even though it’s about 30 minutes from the university, it’s an easy drive and there is a Starbucks just before you get on the highway.

Stayed May 8, 2025My mom gifted this VRBO to my wife and I as a Babymoon vacation. I was unsure at first, but this ended up being my favorite place to get away from the day to day stress. The place is very cozy and peaceful. Definitely a country setting, which we appreciated.

Stayed May 26, 2024This little cottage was very clean and cozy. It is far off the road but close to a lot. A great location for Skyline drive. Good eats nearby. I would recommend an SUV, a sedan might bottom out on the road coming in. I gave 4 stars overall because of the latrine.. It is a compost toilet and there is an odor. The flies were bad because of this. Don’t plan to do a lot of cooking. Pots pans utensils were limited. We cooked steaks on the gri and our forks and knives bent trying to cut them. We have bad backs and the bed was very hard. But you are secluded and right on the Shenandoah River. There is a nice area to sit near the water. We drove down because the path is rather treacherous. The price was right and Scot was an attentive and gracious host.

Stayed Jun 7, 2024My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this unique place! The house is on a beautiful property and was a short drive to both Shenandoah and Elkton and maybe about 15 minutes from the nearest park entrance. The place is pretty small but was perfect for my boyfriend and I since we were spending most of our time exploring the surrounding area.

Stayed Apr 4, 2024Had the chance to stay here with my teenage son while we toured the caverns in the local area. The host is honestly one of the best I've encountered, providing perfect directions and being super flexible as we had to make some last-minute changes. The property is gorgeous and perfectly separated from the main property, leaving you in the silence of nature and ability to view all of the stars. The proximity of the rover was a bonus and enjoyed by both the humans and our pet dog. Overall, this is one of the absolutely best stays I've had on VRBO and highly recommend it if you're touring the local parks and/or caverns. .

Stayed Aug 11, 2023The property is in the Shenandoah valley with great views of the mountains. It's a nice solar-powered cabin with everything you need for a stay- grill, small fridge, 2 burner stove, microwave, and wifi. Plenty of chairs for outdoor seating. The owner was very communicative and helpful. I had no issues with the stay and highly recommend staying here for a hiking weekend or to get out of town and enjoy some quiet time. I look forward to staying here again!
