Feel at home instantly in a cosy mountain-cottage, nestled in the heart of ancient woodland, with a stunning view over Ticino’s high mountains. Access to hikes directly from the house and close to Lugano and Italy.

In Summer you can feel the fresh air that is not felt in the city and in winter it's a cosy place to be. Upon request & extra fee, we can arrange for massages, pedicure, yoga, meditation & more. Pets are welcome.

Sitting at the very top of the idyllic village of Fescoggia, this charming cottage is surrounded by nature. Large meadows, with grazing mountain goats and curious deer, give way to a chestnut forest, bathed in crystal clean alpine air. It’s the ideal retreat for couples, friends, individuals or families wanting a break from the hubbub of everyday life to immerse themselves in Nature’s charms. It's also a perfect location for hikers and Mountain bikers. Enjoy leaving the cottage in the morning with your e-bike and spending time on the nearby available trails.

Sit on the sun-drenched, outdoor veranda, perhaps enjoying a glass of locally-produced wine, while taking in the sights and sounds of wildlife and wilderness. Above you, a pair of buzzards circle. On the hilltop, a deer wanders by. Families can let children explore and discover in complete safety. And then, when you’re feeling more energetic, nearby marked trails provide plenty of scope for hiking and mountain biking. There are clean, clear rivers for wild swimming. In season, rare mushrooms are ripe for picking. And just a few metres from the front door, at night you can observe the heavens and stargaze surrounded by peace and tranquility.
In winter you can feel cosy inside the house or enjoy the many walking trails around the house and come back to a nice warm infrared sauna (upon request).

The cottage itself has one double bedroom, with doors opening onto a small balcony, overlooking the meadows and the view beyond.
The second bedroom has a single bed that opens up to a double bed. Once the bed is opened up, there is no room around it, but it's always loved. The room is well lit and there is even the possibility of opening the door that overlooks the garden. Should children prefer to have their own room, there is a possibility of adding a second mattress on the office floor.
There’s a double sofa bed in the living room if needed.
The third room is set up as a mini office environment with a desk and chair. There are English books available.

The house is small, so even if there are many sleeping possibilities know that the areas are not that big. The bathroom is also small and is the only one in the house, but the shower is large. The living room has a log fire and there is a newly-installed kitchen with full facilities, including dishwasher. There is a boot room, with washer/dryer, leading to the kitchen. There are covered and uncovered outdoor spaces, with a private garden, where you can relax, sunbathe, read a book, sip wine and prepare a BBQ, while watching the sunset over the high mountain tops.

The cottage is surrounded by nature and accessible by car. Ideally you would want to have a car as it's easier to get around and to get to the cottage with your luggage. There is no public transport that arrives directly to the cottage. A bus service arrives in the village of Fescoggia, which is 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes walking distance from the cottage.

There are many hiking trails around the cottage and you can spend all of your time in nature. If on the other hand you are interested in visiting other places, ideally a car is again the best option. Public transport in Fescoggia consists in a bus service that goes to the neighbouring villages or Lugano. In order to get to Lugano, there is one change to make (bus or train). In Lugano there is a rail service, connecting with towns and cities in Switzerland and Italy.

Nearby places to visit:

Lugano - With a Mediterranean flair, Lugano offers all the advantages of an international city coupled with the cachet of a small town feel. It’s the largest city in the holiday region of Ticino, with high-end shopping, local and international restaurants and bars, a casino, theatre, lido and parks. Boat trips from Lugano take you to the fishing village of Gandria, to Monte San Giorgio or Monte Generoso, and to the Liliputwelt of the Swissminiatur near Melide.

Il Maglio - The Maglio del Malcantone forge at Il Maglio is s a truly special place and one of the wonders of this region. You can visit the last trip hammer still operational in Switzerland and be sure to ask the caretaker for a guided tour, before taking a plunge in the pond.

Monte S. Salvatore - Since 1890, from Lugano a funicular has been bringing visitors and guests up to the 912-m summit at Monte S. Salvatore and the village of Carona. Enjoy views over the lake and a walk through the exotic flowers and plants of Parco San Grato.

Monte Brè - Monte Brè is a small mountain east of Lugano on the flank of Monte Boglia with a view of the bay of Lugano and the Pennine Alps and the Bernese Alps. It is considered one of the sunniest points in Switzerland. Since 1912, the Monte Brè funicular has led from Lugano Cassarate to Monte Brè.

Monteviasco (Italy) - Curiglia con Monteviasco is a town in the northernmost reaches of the Varese province, on the border with the Canton of Ticino. The town is perched on a hillside, founded by what were once two municipalities, Curiglia and Monteviasco. In the past, the only way to access the hilltop village was to climb the long staircase of 1,400 steps. Today, the area is also accessible from a cable car that was opened in 1989. The characteristic architecture of the old town centre, which dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries, consists of stone houses, wooden balconies and roofs in traditional flagstone. Even the original stone paving, known as rizzata, has remained intact for about 200 years. An important cultural and historical landmark is the masso di Piero, a large boulder which takes its name from the town where it is located. This boulder is marked with numerous engravings, figures, symbols and words dating back to the pagan era, which were later replaced by floral crosses when it was used for Christian religious practices in the 10th-11th century.

Como (Italy) - Como is a city at the southern tip of Lake Como in northern Italy. It's known for the Gothic Como Cathedral, a scenic funicular railway and a waterfront promenade. The Museo Didattico della Seta traces the history of Como's silk industry, while the Tempio Voltiano museum is dedicated to Italian physicist Alessandro Volta. Just north are the lakeside gardens of the palatial Villa Olmo, as well as other stately villas.

Bellagio (Italy) - Bellagio is a village on a promontory jutting out into Lake Como, in Italy. It’s known for its cobbled lanes, elegant buildings and Villa Serbelloni Park, an 18th-century terraced garden with lake views. Nearby are the Tower of the Arts, a venue for exhibitions and performances, and the Romanesque San Giacomo Church. Close to rocky Loppia Beach, the Museum of Navigational Instruments displays sundials and compasses.

We had a truly wonderful, although unfortunately far too short, holiday in this beautiful house. The location is simply perfect, surrounded by stunning nature, breathtaking views, and absolute peace and quiet. It’s the ideal place to switch off completely and recharge your batteries. The house itself is lovingly decorated, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. You can feel the love and care that has gone into every detail. The garden is a little paradise, perfect for relaxing or enjoying cozy evenings. We were travelling with our two dogs, who were just as happy here as we were. The surroundings are perfect for long walks, and the property is very dog-friendly, it was wonderful to see them enjoying the holiday too. A special thank you goes to Monique, she is a host with heart and soul. From the very first contact to the farewell, everything was warm, uncomplicated, and thoughtful. She makes sure you feel welcome from the moment you arrive and can fully enjoy your holiday. We felt completely at home here and will definitely be back. Thank you so much, Monique, for your wonderful hospitality, it was simply perfect!

If you're looking for peace, a tranquil atmosphere and glorious surroundings, this is the place for you. The house is very simple and you're off the beaten track, but there's everything you need and you'll be spending most of your time outdoors anyway. Our dogs had to be lifted into the car every time we went anywhere, because they never wanted to leave. Monique is delightful, warm and helpful, and she made us feel very welcome - we even met her equally warm and friendly parents.
