Sandwich, Massachusetts
Historically known as "The Studio" this is a quiet retreat cottage nestled in a private forest garden a short walk to East Sandwich Beach. It is ideal for writing, reflection, art making, and enjoying the natural beauty.
There is a living room, writing and work space, open kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with queen-sized bed. All of the furnishings have been freshly updated and decorated with artwork from local artists.
A longtime family farm, the owners next door tending the gardens are happy to help with questions about the area. East Sandwich Beach is a 15-min walk; a few miles down the road is Sandy Neck, Scorton Creek, Titcomb's Bookshop, walking trails, lobster rolls, good coffee, and places to learn about local history.
Open this summer for singles and couples. From June 24 - Sept 2 weekly rentals run from Saturday to Saturday.
Very quiet location (except for that pesky train whistle). The location was ideal as a base camp for exploring 'up-cape, North': Sandwich, Cap Code canal, bay beaches, dinning was excellent (oh and ah, don't miss the Sandwich Glass Museum!). A drip coffee maker would be a good addition as well as network television. But I can't say enough about the comfort of the cottage and the friendliness of the property manager.
If you are looking for the ideal retreat to get away from it all, this is it. Yet it is close enough to a neighborhood market, book store, and best of all, the beach (all within walking distance) that you will not lack for anything. It's the perfect, peaceful home away from home.
