Red Box Cottage - Tuross Head

Sshhh.... don’t tell anyone! We want to be able to book again and again. We LOVED this cottage. It is a bit old and ramshackled but that’s part of the charm. It feels quaint and cozy. The location is just gorgeous and so relaxing. We had our (delicious) Thai food delivered across the deck and yummy breakfasts 2 doors down. We can’t wait to go back.

Unique and right on the water

The best location for a quiet family break. Loved it again. Our third stay now and we found it just as relaxing.

Natalie was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with,we had a wonderful few days and the Thai Restaurant next door was excellent.Natalie even called when we arrived home to make sure everything was O.K. with our stay.Highly recommended by my wife and i.

Magic setting; a waterways oasis without the throng.

Yes welcoming but unfortunately cleanliness was not very good. Also couldn't able to turn on any out door lights. Dining and kitchen area lighting was not good.

This was our third year in a row, had great time despite the weather and the fishing came good eventually.

We thoroughly enjoyed our waterfront stay and caught a few fish. Definitely will be back again.

Location and comfortable.

We have a regular annual 3 night stay at Red Box. We are about to book for next year. The location and the ambience of the house is what makes us return.

Everything was amazing, from the host, to the amenities wow

Didn't have contact with the host but everything was great, one tiny issue - keypad entry was hit and miss opening front door, maybe just us seniors struggling with technology. But no complaints overall,

Fantastic property. So well equipped, it was like home away from home. Amazing views. Very friendly locals. Restaurant next door was spectacular. Recommend the yummy local oysters. We would love to stay again but longer this time.

Very well cleaned, unique accommodation. Great host. Immense wildlife at your door step. Large Black Snake resides near the front door. Give her some space and she will move on at her leisure.

lake view was great especialy sunset .Fishing was fun off back deck although only caught one ,but the visiting seal caught 3 in 30 minutes and was happy to put on a show with them

Excellent, property was very well presented, very clean and very well equipped. Location is 10/10 The bottle of complimentary wine on arrival was a very nice touch. Highly recommend a stay here as the location is stunning.Thanks to the host for providing such a lovely atmosphere.Cheers Michael

A fantastic property. Clean and well presented with gorgeous views over the river. Lots of stairs throughout the property and house so if you are less mobile you might need to consider this. Spending time on the back deck fishing and soaking up the sun was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Really convenient Thai restaurant and Cafe next door - great meals. Country Club was a nice spot to have lunch, beautiful views over the lake.

fantastic location for a relaxing weekend with family. teens loved being able to pull up in the boat and head out fishing all day

This place was everything we wanted and more. Truely hope to come back.

great for fishing stairs a worry esp for. older persons front door opens to a steep. down staircase no handholds for first 3 steps difficult to manage holding cases etc

stay at a property with direct water access was great

There is nowhere better to stay on the coast. The location is second to none. This was our second stay and we loved it even more (as we stayed twice as long this trip). The house was perfect for our family with two (young adults) kids - everyone had their own room and having two bathrooms always makes it easier to get along.We spent our days in the sunshine on the deck and our evenings sitting playing boardgames outside. When the sun was a little too hot in the afternoon, we retreated inside to watch DVDs.A new addition since our previous visit was the QR code for the next door restaurant on the outdoor table. We used this twice and it was highly convenient.We loved every minute and will be back for sure.

Even though it rained we had the best time. The house was perfect for us-grandparents, parents and grandchildren. It has the feeling of being on a house boat with all the benefits of being on land. Of course having your Thai meal from the restaurant next door being handed over onto your deck was most convenient as well as being delicious.

This property is a real find. It is quirky, comfortable and so close to the water, the deck is actually over the water. If you like fishing or paddle boarding you are going to love it. Our little dog also loved it.

We had a wonderful relaxing break. Great spot. Very clean and tidy.

A great place to have a short break. Right on the water, we swam off the deck and even caught a couple of little fish..the big ones are still out there.Everything you need is there. Even a great Thai restaurant right next door. We ordered takeaway and they delivered it over the fence. Perfect.

Quirky layout with multiple levels, great back deck to fish from. Wonderful Thai restaurant and cafe next door. Quiet, great outlook over the water. Tuross is untouched by development, they do have a terrific club with very nice meals though. We spent many hours fishing and caught a lot of undersized fish but had a great time catching and releasing, some bigger ones also got a reprieve.

I stayed here with my wife. It was much bigger than I expected and more modern than I expected.perfect if you love your fishing as you can fish off the back deck.the table on the deck actually has a bar code where you can order food from the restaurant next door and they will bring it to you 10/10

Quick Family break, boat fishing and from the deck was tremendous plenty of flathead. Rain tried to spoil the trip but we just kept going,

It is very unique accomodation, you feel there like living on a boat with water just behind the window. Deck is great for fishing and I have used it extensively with good results. The house itself is complex and varies in age with bathrooms excellent and newly renovated. The stairs to the house are very narrow and steep which may be problem for some people. You have to understand that you are living next door to an excellent Thai restaurant and busy cafeteria and people and various activities are things to consider.

Three couples in our late 60s who had a our first stay in 2023, just had three nights in 2024 and just booked for 2025. Love the quirky house, the over- water deck and its location. NB, as mentioned in the listing, if you have mobility issues not the place to stay as lots of stairs throughout the property.

Impressive, unique and tranquil; the perfect stay at Red Box cottage. Will be back. 😀

A piece of town history that (thankfully) has so far avoided over development and retains the charm of yesteryear. Homely and clean, A unique family experience.

This place keeps on giving. The tranquillity of the lake, the sunsets, little nooks to find, the salmon and seals. Great pleasures of stillness and reflections. Oh and the house in a perfect spot. All that you will ever need in the house and plenty of hames for kids. We loved our stay and was sad to leave 😔

Spent three nights for a winter escape. Great looking out over the lake from the house, and sitting out on the sunny deck (and throwing a line in). Spotted a seal swimming by :-) Having a good Thai restaurant and cafe right next door meant no need to cook (but the house well equipped if you do). Comfy house, with everything you need. Would book again.
