The cottage doesn’t look like the picture.
Enjoyed the house. Zero cell service but WiFi was good, cute house. Unfortunately, did not have time to use the hot tub, but we did check it out and it was clean and warm. My only issue was the well water. It is stinky, but common for that area. Just take bottled water.
It's very peaceful and relaxing everything in a place was okay but we did have a small little problem with some bugs in the house other than that the place was great
Loved the private river access, gas fireplace, and close proximity to Cullowhee where we toured Western Carolina University.
What a great location. Everything was as advertised. It’s a great spot if you are visiting WCU
Very noisy road construction and just traffic noise. Outdoor area dirty and broken furniture. Hot tub did not work. Steps leading to outdoor fire pit very dangerous Inside is beautiful.
The kitchen was well stocked, plenty of towels, and blankets provided. Close proximity to Western Carolina University.
Had a wonderful stay hoping to return soon. Need to replace some light bulbs and keep some on hand.
On arrival, the bush at the main porch entrance that you have to go though is overgrown. I had to dodge around it to get up the stairs. Property management sent an email or text (I can’t remember) with Wi-Fi instructions and they weren’t right. There was a different router and password for this property on a piece of paper tucked away on the kitchen counter. Hot tub had dirt in it. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The water was yellow and smelled bad. All the closest are full of stuff so you can’t really use them if you want. The drawers in the bedrooms have trash in them. There’s trash under the refrigerator, under the night stands etc. The night stands had a coat of dust on them. The property sent an auto generated message asking about cleanliness and when I responded to it, it came back as undeliverable. The house is either on well water or had a really bad hard water problem and it shows everywhere with real bed yellow staining. The property location is nice. The dock/porch on the river are nice to sit on, just know there is a road just on the other side of the river that is heavily trafficked. I can confidently say I wouldn’t recommend this property and I won’t be returning to it.
This place is gorgeous, the location is amazing, the hot tub was empty, the property manager filled it up the next day, we loved it and look forward to coming back next year!
Really close to Western Carolina University. Very Clean beautiful river. Friendly neighbors
Positive: Great location being on river. Plenty of room, Internet worked great, and by connecting phones everyone kept service. Negative: Hot Tub didn't work. Table on deck by the grill was setup broken(we sat our steaks on grill to cook, and table collapsed soon as we pulled out the chair to sit down...chair was holding the leg in place). Being so close to river the water was brown, which we still used the showers, just used bottle water to brush teeth and drink. Didn't use the washing machine provided. Would be 5 star if hot tub would have worked, and we didn't loose our dinner result of table on deck.
It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing, and comfortable.
While the photos online made the cabin and furnishings appear newer, the cabin was cozy, well-stocked, comfortable and well-furnished. Our only serious complaint, and the reason we would not return, is the water. The water had such a high iron content that I could not even stand to brush my teeth with it. After washing my hands or showering, I smelled like rusty metal the rest of the day. If there was something that could be done to improve the water quality, the cabin would be a sweet retreat.
Stayed here with my college aged daughter while she recovered from minor surgery. Fantastic location and well appointed. Be ready for no cell signal but, the wifi works great. Loved the stay, the views and the solitude.
The cabin is spacious with plenty of room to enjoy reading in the loft or having coffee on the deck. Loved the river right out back. Close enough to explore many of the towns nearby. The heat worked great was it was in the 20's when we were there.
Wonderful cottage in a quaint valley. Quiet neighborhood except for the traffic on the two lane road on the opposite side of the river. The house was equipped with everything you would need for a week or weekend stay.
Listing is not accurate- HOT TUB. - did not work, fireplace did not work, fire-pit by the river was great but no where to sit - we could have brought chairs if we would have known. Water - reviews say a bit of mineral in water - very incorrect- very high mineral content lime I didn’t want to bathe or brush my teeth or make coffee we went back into town to buy bottled water for all these. It was dusty/cobwebs- old blankets just thrown into closets. Just kinda weird- oh and the neighbor came over while we are sitting down for dinner to tell is to move one of our cars because the UPS man comes flying down the road - mind you it’s Saturday night. Not a horrible experience but sounded much nicer on the listing.
We enjoyed the quiet and open space outside. There are homes close by but tree borders block them from view. This home was cozy, nothing fancy and no frills but was very inviting. This home does have high mineral count in water which has caused discoloration to sinks/ toilets/ showers but we knew this from previous reviews. The housekeeper left us a note with her direct number for any immediate concerns (we didn’t have to call her thankfully) but overall we were very pleased. It checked all our boxes : Family friendly, cozy, clean
The beds were comfortable, the location was nice, and it was a relaxing time away from a big city.
We enjoyed the cabin, the river & especially the sounds of birds chirping!
The Good: Overall the property was in good condition, rustic of course, but exactly what you would expect in a nice comfortable, up in a hollow mountain location. All surrounding properties were well maintained and you always felt safe. Everything was in working order and the rental was well stocked. A nice place to stay overall. The Bad: There is a rodent problem. Droppings were in the kitchen utensil drawers and in the lower kitchen cabinets. Droppings were also found in the forward bedroom on the comforter. Not something you ever want to see but an older home, down in a hollow, not lived in full time... it can happen. Not a show stopper but preventable and easily taken care of. Other things that needed attention was the overflowing gutter on the back of the house, a board on the deck that curled up when dry causing a tripping problem. It also laid flat when wet exposing a screw that revealed another safety concern. The kitchen faucet sprayer doesn't work. Easy, low cost fixes that will help improve the next renter experience. Hope this helps.
