New Era, Michigan
Enjoy your own slice of Lake Michigan in this 3 bedroom, 1 bath cottage nestled in mature trees on the dune. Just 50 stairs below the patio is your own beautiful white sandy beach.
The huge primary bedroom has a king-sized bed, a sitting area overlooking the lake, and a giant bean bag-type chair that opens into a large bed. Another bedroom has bunk beds, and the third has two twin beds
The cottage has a washer, dryer, dishwasher, and all new flooring in the living room and kitchen which complements the original hardwood floor in the primary bedroom. The single bathroom was updated in 2023.
There's a large smart TV in the living room (no cable or satellite service) and wifi.
This area of West Michigan is a mecca for summertime activities. There are several golf courses within a few miles, horseback riding, tubing, and the famous Silver Lake Sand Dunes are about a 10-minute drive away. There you'll find jetskis, paddle boats, pontoon boats, waterskiing, and more. Fine dining and high-end shopping are about 40 miles away -- this is a rural, casual area.
We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the property and location. It was nice that there chairs and beach toys! The owner was great and very responsive! We hope to return next year!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Murphy Cottage! We especially enjoyed having the walk-down to Lake Michigan and being able to walk on the beach and enjoy access to the water. The privacy was lovely. Lots of trees and shade. The house is a 1950s cottage and is cute with original formica countertops. The house gets a little warm at night and I'd recommend leaving the windows open and having fans running. Nice shower and water pressure. We did purchase drinking water as we are not used to well water.---recommend bringing your own water. The washer and dryer were great and having a clothesline was a perk to hang up towels and bathing suits. Overall a great week at the beach! :)
Stairs to wonderful beach, not terribly difficult. Nearby good attractions. Basic cottage with classic cottage feel, but had what you need. Attentive property manager.
We had a nice week on the lake; it was fun to get away from the hustle and bustle. The house is nestled in the woods overlooking lake Michigan, with steps down to the beach. The private beach area was amazing, and we had a blast. The weather this week was humid, which made the discovery of a window AC in the master bedroom a delight to behold. The house is very well appointed, and in hindsight we could have brought fewer chairs, toys, and gear for the kids. Laura was a great communicator and helped resolve a few issues quickly! Thanks again.
We had a wonderful family vacation at this property. The beach was definitely the highlight and we spent a lot of time there. Laura was very communicative and great to work with. 10/10!
We loved our week on the beach! The house was very comfortable, plenty of room for our family. The beach was fantastic. The weather was great and we were able to kayak most days. Would definitely recommend this property!
The location right on Lake Michigan was the biggest selling point. We had our own private area of the beach to enjoy, with stairs leading down to it. The house was very nice. The master suite was huge, with a king sized bed. There were toys for my grandson to play with. I walked along the beach several times. Stony Lake Inn, only a mile up the street, was a great place to eat. The Hart-Montague Trail is only a few miles away. Lewis Farm is a great place to take kids. The store has lots of treat available for adults (pie, jam, etc.)
Stayed here late July with family. Cottage was very clean on arrival. The best part, without a doubt, is that they have a beach which is rare these days with the lake being so high. There are about 50 stairs down to a nice flat beach area with plenty of room to setup the kids. We spent a ton of time down there and the kids had a blast playing on the beach and in the water. Laura the property manager was great and very responsive. There were a couple minor issues with the dishwasher and freezer that she helped fix promptly. Make sure to check out the Silver Lake area and Cherry Point while you're in the area
wonderful private beach
We had an amazing time with young children. If you're looking for relaxing and tranquil times this is your spot. The internet capacity was very helpful for FaceTiming with other family members and running kids shows on the one tv. The singular bathroom is the only challenge with a housefuls of kids and the need to keep everyone sand-free post beach play. For us, it was great!
