Stayed Mar 27, 2026This place is such a beautiful oasis. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds are beautiful to walk around (bee hives, flowers, mini garden, some animals) and there is a gorgeous view of the water. It's easy to get to town and Jacklynn is a wonderful host. We also had amazing massages with a wonderful therapist named Christine at the massage shala. Highly recommend!

Stayed Jul 8, 2025What a wonderful retreat! We loved everthing about this visit. Property was clean, host was delightful and the rainforest ambiance can't be beat. Cute hot tubs and dipping tanks in the rainforest lent itself to unique experiences for us. Would recommend!

Stayed Feb 13, 2025Though this property intentionally lacked amenities that large, resort like properties provide, it hit the mark in what was promised: a quiet, intimate experience that is close to nature and the nighttime sky! Though secluded, the location is close enough to Pahoa to make dining and a trip to the store to resupply convenient. The grounds are beautifully manicured and at night the stars are vivid and accompanied by a chorus of Coqui frogs! The onsite hot tubs were clean and provided a welcome respite from the bit of rain we had. The pool is not to be missed...not traditional but unique in a beautiful/good way.The site is served by satellite internet service which was quite reliable though subject to some disruption depending on the weather and level of useage by other guests. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024From the very beginning, the host, Jacklynn, was communicating thoroughly and promptly with me. She assured me that it would be easy to find, easy to enter, with little confusion or hassle. I was concerned about Wi-Fi and Internet access and she assured me that both were robust and stable. Everything Jacklynn told me was true and accurate. The Puna rain forest retreat has five cottages located at the end of a lovely gravel road off of a well marked and easy to navigate secondary road. We stayed in the rainbow cottage. The rainbow cottage is the center cottage which is flanked on both sides by the two other cottages. Perhaps the second thing that struck us, aside from the easy access and accurate directions, was the stunning view of the horizon. Our rainbow cottage was literally painted with rainbow colors on the outside and soft subtle hues on the inside. We could actually lay in bed and see the ocean from the bed. There was a deck outside of our bedroom and we often spent the early part of the morning sipping coffee and sitting outside on the deck. The cottage was more than roomy for the two of us and roomy enough for more. The grounds of the retreat were also very special. The grounds of the retreat were also very special. Aside from being visually stunning there were several easy hiking trails. The overall vibes at the Puna rain forest retreat kind of felt like a spiritual massage! It was all just so relaxing and so pretty. Thank you Jacklynn.
