Private Carriage House Retreat on a 33 Acre Historic Working Estate

Idylic location.Green plush, goats to feed and nice hosts. I'd stay there again.

We chose the Carriage House for a relaxing girls weekend and it did not disappoint! Drue was on hand to meet us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour. The carriage house was equipped with everything we could have needed and more - cooking supplies, reading lights, extra chargers and blankets, games and books, and even complimentary snacks and wine. The bunk beds were perfect for an old-fashioned sleepover and the pool was equipped with a variety of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and floats for a relaxing day. Drue even gave us some great recommendations for local dinners spots which we tried and loved. We had a great time and would love to make this and annual event! I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a great place to unwind and relax! And the goats are a plus!

Our group of six enjoyed everything about our weekend at the Carriage House. The property is beautiful, inside and out. The hosts have been so thoughtful in creating the space and what they have included in the house to make your stay comfortable. The views of nature and the farm are stunning. The pool was perfect for swimming and relaxing. We all look forward to returning for future visits.

It was me, my son and my sister staying. The grounds were beautiful, and we fed the goats too! It was late season, so no pool or any relaxing outdoors. Brrr. Traffic is light in the area so it was easy to get in a 2+ mile walk and see the local neighborhoods. As it was mentioned in the listing (but not obvious in the photos), you have to walk through the bunk room to get to the master bedroom, and the door to the upstairs bath doesn't offer total privacy. No place is perfect, and we would definitely come back again, but the layout might not be for everyone. We arrived late and left early, so did not get a chance to meet the hosts. Maybe next time.

My daughter and I were on a long weekend trip to visit my granddaughter, a sophomore at University of Delaware. First, it is a perfect distance to campus, and even better it’s a terrific rental. The hosts have thought of every single thing, you want for nothing. Great snacks, comfy beds, extra chargers, quality towels, plentiful outside seating, GOATS! And snacks to feed the goats. It’s a must visit. It appears that the summertime offers even more! We will definitely be back. Thank you for the immediate responses, the great suggestions, and an overall wonderful visit.

We are 5 women over 50 who wanted a little girls getaway to float and drink and eat and chat and laugh. This hit the spot. Communication with Drue was great - quick to respond with our inquiries. We did not need to reach out to her during our stay. The pool was clean and refreshing, the bunk room is adorable and fit us all well. The big dining table in the living area was perfect for playing games. And feeding the goats was a nice little extra!

I was looking for a relaxing getaway with a pool for my Husband and I along with our sons to celebrate my 51st birthday and 27th Wedding Anniversary. The owners created an amazing cottage space for just that. We were greeted with a Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary gift which was beyond thoughtful. The labeling on the cabinets, doors, and spaces made sure you knew exactly where everything was that you may need. The open bar, family room and dining room space made it perfect for my family to stop through during the day and celebrate with us. The view on the patio was peaceful and calm. It is even a grill which was perfect. I was able to grill some burgers, sausages and crabs! We enjoyed walking the properties where we saw the chicken, geese, horses and we even got to feed the goats! Also we were able to purchase some honey from their bees honey comb which was amazing! If you are looking for a getaway that is peaceful with beautiful views then The Ricketts House is a perfect and still close enough to eateries and stores. Thanks Dru for ya'lls hospitality. We look forward to booking again!

This was the best vacation rental I have EVER had! The property itself, host hospitality, amenities, and ease of use were all fantastic. I was looking for a property with a pool to celebrate my 40th birthday with a dozen friends and family, and we had the BEST time! :-D The pool has several umbrellas and plenty of seating, which was perfect in the July heat. I also ordered catering of carafes of cocktails, gourmet pizza, and the food and drink was on time, yummy, and super convenient. Drue and Morgan could not have been friendlier or more hospitable. The carriage house itself is beautiful and styled with comfortable furniture and cool antiques. My three sisters and I all had a slumber party in the bunk room, which is cozy and super comfortable, with personal nooks of charging adaptors and outlets. Linens and towels were provided, such a nice amenity when other rentals don't offer that. Sparkling clean, everything labeled, and Drue even left me a welcome bottle of birthday wine and a snack basket! We loved walking over to feed the goats, swinging on the tire swing, and enjoying a relaxing getaway in this beautiful bucolic setting. I can't wait to come back and one of my guests wants to rent it for her family. 10,000/10!
