Peaceful waterfront cottage, close to town!

What a great place to stay on San Juan Island! Perfect for us as a couple for a getaway weekend. Charming, clean, and well stocked. Beautiful grounds and access to the water. We had a great time and highly recommend.

Absolutely perfect place to stay. I was on the island for a solo trip and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing place. If you're unhappy with this stay, you're the problem!

It was a lovely, quiet spot with a great view. It is in the perfect location for sightseeing and for visiting downtown Friday Harbor. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom has a heater that made it so warm and toasty. The chairs by the water were a really nice touch and we had beautiful sunrises all theee mornings. They have a lot of birds to watch including a couple of eagles, including one that caught a fish. Such a beautiful and peaceful time.

Quiet relaxing stay near Friday Harbor. In warmer weather we could have considered walking downtown. We were able to make breakfast every day and dinner one night as there is an excellent grocery store in town. Unit was private, clean and had a nice yard.

Nice little spot just outside of Friday Harbor. It's on the hosts property but you have total privacy. If we ever come back the Shaqteau will be on my shortlist.

The cottage is just perfect for a stay in Friday Harbour. We had a car with us but the cottage was only a 15/20 minute walk into the town and so most days we would walk in and back. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well set out. The views from the garden were just out of this world. Thank you, we had a fantastic stay and would love to return one day.

The cabin was amazing, quiet and private while still being close to town, and waking up with that view was just so lovely!

Very special place! Wonderful view and easy access to the private shoreline. We even found a sand dollar on the shore and saw a heron from the kitchen window each day. Host was very friendly and helpful. Cottage was small but very clean and comfortable for the two of us seniors! I grill a lot and the small grill worked great for us. Beautiful sunrise at Cattle Point Lighthouse complete with watching 2 eagles and a deer. No tv but didn’t miss it a bit!! WiFi worked great. Near the ferry. Great base to island hop.

We highly recommend. The cottage was super clean and charming. We loved the ocean view and the aesthetics. Everything about the place was perfect!

fabulous stay!

The property has a waterfront view from the cottage. It is secluded with great privacy and peace of mind. We went on whale watching tour and had a mutitude of sightings of a well known female humpback whale.

This is our third stay and Shaqteau just keeps getting better. We absolutely love being hosted here - it’s perfection and we wouldn’t change a thing!

We had another lovely time staying at the Shaqteau. The location can’t be beat and the cabin is perfectly cozy and well maintained.

The property itself was as advertised. The grounds were a bonus. A well thought out garden just outside the windows let us see hummingbirds and several other species from the comfort of the living room area.The chairs down at the lagoon were also a nice touch and we were able to warch harbor seals and belted kingfishers.

This was a great spot on a beautiful property. We will be looking it up the next time we come back home to Friday Harbor

Beautiful property, difficulty communicating with property owners.

Jim and Peggy were very kind and quick to answer questions online! Easy check in process. The owners are right next door if you need anything but the cottage is cozy, clean, and private! The bed is comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and was stocked with amazing coffee! The view was gorgeous and our favorite part was walking down to the beach to sit on the Adirondack chairs and drink our coffee and to look for seashells! Thanks for a wonderful stay, if we ever come back we will definitely stay here!

We had the best stay at the Shaqteau. The space was comfortable and in the most peaceful location.

Great location. Only a few minutes from the town and restaurants. The bed was very comfortable and my wife loved the shower. The chairs by the waterfront were a very relaxing spot for us to spend the evening. Would stay again, thank you for having us!

Quaint little cottage on the water with all the amenities of home. Cottage is located out of Friday Harbor and is in a quiet neighborhood but not far from everything. You definitely get the island feel at this cottage. We highly recommend this property to all.

We loved our 3 night stay at this clean and quiet cottage just outside of town. It had everything we needed and also enjoyed using the outdoor patio, barbecue and chairs by the water.

Lovely spot just outside of town as a home base for a family event visit. Nice unit, friendly hosts, very comfortable and clean. We will stay there again for our next visit!

We had a wonderful stay at their home. It was perfectly located right outside of town. Super quiet and we had access to a private beach. Everything we needed to cook right there and the bed was super comfortable which is sometimes hard to find at VRBO’s. They are right next door but we had total privacy. We hope to be back next year! This is a well located cute cozy cottage next to the owners home. Has great back yard views and a great area to look at the water out back. Easy access to explorer the island. Bed is comfortable and kitchen well stocked.

We stayed at “shaqteau” for a truly lovely weekend bike trip. The property is beautiful, convenient, and made for a perfect place to stay.

We had a family wedding on San Juan Island and this cottage was the perfect spot for our stay. Close driving distance from Friday Harbor and the ferry landing, and walking distance to several beach spots. I appreciated the craftsmanship and charm of the cottage and it came equipped with everything we needed for our extended weekend get-away.

This is a lovely, well-cared-for cottage, very comfortable, good kitchen, heat that works (!), quiet and peaceful.

My husband and I stayed here for a full week and it was PERFECT! The goal was to see what the island is like in the 'off-season' months with cooler temps and rain.This property is located minutes from the Ferry, walking distance into Friday Harbor, and has incredible views of the water. If you are a birder, this is a GEM! Lost track of how many species and birds we watched each day - just fabulous.This cottage is adorable - just enough space to settle in and enjoy! We had everything we needed and could not have asked for more.The owner is kind and genuine and generous - shared fresh eggs from the property chickens - outstanding!100% - 10 out of 10 stars - thumbs up - however you want to rate it - EXCELLENT!

The Shaqteau was a gem! All the amenities I needed for my get-away, so close to town yet quiet and peaceful. I slept wonderfully and got to watch the sunrise from a perfect picture window. Even made it down to the private shore! I look forward to visiting again!

Perfect for two in a comforting, stylish, practical way. Small in size but everything we needed was provided. The queen bed was comfortable and sitting area with a large window to the expansive back yard which extended to the water of a bay-like area. The structural detail inside is fantastic.Go!

This was a great little spot. Lots of wildlife on the lagoon. It was very cozy and had everything i needed to take care of myself for 8 days.

This was our first time to San Juan Island and we couldn't have been more pleased with our lovely accommodations. It was exactly what we wanted for our vacation. The landscaping around the cottage was beautiful and created a private outdoor patio. Even though we were a short 15 minute walk to town it was dark and quiet enough to keep the large picture windows open at night. It was clean and well laid out. We absolutely would want to stay here again for any future San Juan visits. Thank you to our kind hosts!

My husband and I stayed at the Shaqteau at Friday Harbor we were very happy with loction, super close to town! The cottage was very charming and perfect for our stay...the hosts were very friendly and we enjoyed meeting them...nice spot to relax on the water and enjoy the view...we highly recommend this cottage and would love to stay there again!!

Amazing place to stay on San Juan! The studio is designed so well and feels very spacious. It is close enough to Friday harbor for restaurants or grocery stores (you can walk) but far enough away for peace and quiet. It was so easy to explore the island and then come home and enjoy the view from the large window, or on the chairs at the end of the garden beside the water. Jim was so welcoming and gave us great ideas. We will definitely be back.

I loved my stay at the cottage . The home was clean and in like new condition. It was nicely appointed and had everything you could want . The yard was unbelievable , it’s on the water and has a gorgeous sitting area next to the water , as well as a nice sting area in front of the home . It was very quiet , I slept like a baby . It’s also an easy walk to town . The communication with the owner was excellent. We will definitely be staying here anytime we visit San Juan island.

This was the best sanctuary I could have asked for while staying on the island and the perfect refuge at the end of a day of exploring. I've finally found my place to stay on San Juan for all future adventures. James was the perfect host and so friendly.
