Really quiet, private spot on the edge of town. Comfortable beds and living space, well stocked kitchen. Great communication with owner, would recommend to anyone interested in seeing Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park!

Old Town Cottage was a wonderful place to stay. The cottage was spotless and very comfortable . The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. We loved that it’s a very short walk into town where there were many nice places to eat. It’s centrally located in the Black Hills so Mt. Rushmore, Sylvan Lake State Park and many other popular activities are a short drive.

This is our second time staying at the cottage. The owners updated the living room furniture and kitchen appliances which was a great improvement. The location to Hill City is great. The house is perfect for our needs. There is a detached 2 car garage that I was able to but my 2500 Chevy truck and motorcycle into. This is a huge plus for us with the weather that can pop up in the hills. We will stay here again.

This cottage was wonderful! It was the perfect location with easy access to everything that we were doing during our four-night stay in South Dakota! We loved the back patio...my husband enjoyed reading there each evening. It was so quiet and peaceful! We were greeted by seven deer our first night when we returned to the cottage after dinner. We loved riding on the 1880's train and enjoyed the sound of the whistle blowing during our stay.So much attention to detail, and there wasn't one thing that we needed that wasn't available!! We had trouble getting the TV to work our first night, and the owner was so responsive to our text in resolving the issue...even though she was traveling! If we're ever in the area again, we would DEFINITELY stay here...without a doubt!!

We stayed 4 nights at the Old Town Cottage and loved it! The location and yard are fantastic. Sitting on the back patio listening to the wind go through all the huge pine trees in the evening was relaxing. We didn't use the BBQ grill or fire pit, but it's nice to have that option. The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and relaxed. Spacious and a nice layout, comfortable beds and furniture. Kitchen stocked with everything you'd need for meals (which we did several nights because dining out twice a day was too costly -- a basic chicken sandwich at the Carver's cafe at Mt Rushmore was 15 as an example). Really liked the windows in the dining/kitchen area - which allowed you to see the hill covered in pine trees behind the cabin. While the cabin is right on the edge of downtown (and easy to find because it's near the 1880 train station), you didn't feel like you were 'in town' because the cabin is literally surrounded with pine trees and sits up on a hill side. The 2 car garage is nice if you've bringing bikes up to ride. This was our first stay in a home rental (always hotels before), and it was really awesome being able to park your car steps from the cabin door. The Old Town Cottage is a great place to stay if you want to be a short drive from Keystone, Sylvan Lake, Needles hwy, Mt Rushmore, and all other attractions in area. Even Rapid City is only 30 minutes away. The town grocery store (Krulls Grocery) is NICE and is just a couple of minutes from the cabin.

Hill City is a great Heart of the Hills location. The Old Town Cottage was in town but felt like out in the hills. Very good communications with property manager. Likely stay there on our next trip to the area.

Me, my husband and our two children stayed for 4 nights at this cozy cabin on the hill. Very enjoyable with deer right at your doorstep. The easy communication with the property management made it easy to obtain another propane tank and other amenities offered with our stay. Quick 5 minute walk to downtown Hill City, grocery store and restaurants. All around quiet and pleasant stay at the Cabin on the Hill. Thank you. Lisa K
