Hague, New York
Classic knotty pine cottage and guest quarters privately situated on 3 wooded acres on the banks of the north basin of Lake George. The compound accommodates 8-10 and is ideal for a two family share. The main cottage sleeps 4-6 in three bedrooms (one queen, one full, and a bunk room). It features a full service kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, a wood burning field-stone fireplace, a full bathroom, flat screen TV, and wifi. The adjoining renovated barn building has a master suite that sleeps 2 with a private bath and twin loft, flat screen tv.. The hayloft is now a dormitory style room with 3 twins that is stocked with games. There is a powder room at the base of the stairs. A washing machine, dryer, and additional fridge are available for use in the work shop. Next to the barn is a large campfire pit for roasting s'mores, grills for barbecues (gas, charcoal, smoker), a treehouse and picnic table.
The 600 feet of lakefront is across the street. There are stairs down to a deck that boasts 2 docks with a slip that will accommodate up to a 24' boat. The deck has a 5 stool bar, gas grille, serving table and ample additional seating.
The lovely Hague town beach is .25 miles (easy 5 minute walk) south on Lakeshore Drive. This family friendly beach and park has a sandy beach with access to shallow roped and guarded swimming for even the youngest members of your family. For your convenience there are picnic tables, an extensive playground and restrooms. The general store is a minute walk into town from the beach and sells drinks, sandwiches and ice-creams!
There is so much to this family friendly old gem.
Magnificent views of the lake from front porch.Warm and inviting fully equipped home with additional sleeping quarters in lovely renovated barn on property. Large dock with bar/seating/grill for memorable evening cocktails, sunsets and more. Wonderful attentive owners available for communication during stay. Highly recommend.
Property is located in a beautiful part of northern Lake George. Ticonderoga is near, so quick trips for a pizza pick-up, ice cream or WalMart shopping are little bother. The owners met us for check-in, and gave us a very informative tour. The pride they take in the property was obvious. We spent much time on the well-maintained deck and docks at the edge of the lake. As a bonus, we got a surprise text from the owner telling us of a fireworks display on Hague beach. They were 100% visible from the docks, and we enjoyed being able to cook on the deck, swim in the lake, and cap it off with an excellent show. All amenities were as described in the listing, and we had no problems with any of them. Steps to the lake may be difficult for those with mobility issues, but it's obvious they are working to improve them. We did wish there was lighting immediately over the dining table, not for meals, but for games and crafts. We had no problems seating 10 for meals. All in all, Lee and Marijke provided us an opportunity for a great weekend in a good location, and we would not hesitate to book the property again. Oh, almost forgot... there is a 'secret' rustic swing for the adventurous. Our grandkids (and even Grand-pa) enjoyed it greatly!!
House was very clean. Owner easy to work with. Teens loved having their own space. Lots of steps to water. We loved cooking on the new grill. House could use additional lighting.
Firstly, Lee and Marijke are great hosts. You can tell they love the house and property. They met us at the house and showed us around the property and pointed out any quirks to the cabin to make our stay easier. Lee is super responsive to any questions or issues. The house is the perfect Lake George Camp. Three bedrooms, single bathroom, good living space. The kitchen is nicely stocked with quality pots/pans/knives/everything you need. But the bonus is really the barn. There is another master bedroom with its own bathroom and then a good loft with several twins with its own half bath. The layout works great if you are coming with adult siblings/spouses and kids. Everyone has some privacy to retreat to. We really loved the front porch. The lakefront and dock are all great. Sandy bottom. Dock space for your boat. We really liked the privacy of both the lakefront and property. The single negative is the steps from lake to house. Its a good 4 flights of stairs. Two and half from the lake to the road and one and half from the road to the house. The pictures show it. If you do google road view, you can see the concrete stairs from the road to the house. We just made sure to gather everything we needed and minimized the number of times we went back and forth. No A/C, but lots of fans in the house (thanks for that!). We loved it and will be back next year. Thanks Lee and Marijke.
Overtake is a beautiful cottage, with a barn right behind the cottage. This is an ideal set up for large families. Upon checkin theplace was spotless. When our lils needed a break, they could go to their own separate place. There were plenty of dishes. Glasses, pots and pansand table to accommodate our large family. The waterfront dock is large and fabulous with a grill. We grilled lunch everyday and ate at the bar. Lee and his wife greeted us like we were old Friends. The one con was the cement steps leading down to the dock. This 62 year old gramma and the ones with little ones had a difficult tiime navigating the steep steps. We had a great week. Thank you to the owners for opening up your families home to us. THANKS. BETH
The property was exactly as advertised. Truly enjoyed our week and the accommodations. The cottage and outbuilding were perfect for our group, allowing for everyone to have their own space but plenty of room for all our activities. Thank you Lee and Marijke.
Had a wonderful stay! Beautiful location and views. House and property are very clean and well cared for. Hosts are extremely welcoming. Kids loved exploring the outdoors and swimming off the dock.
We had a wonderful two week vacation. The home is extremely clean and well stocked with dishes, cookware, and utensils. The covered front porch overlooking the lake is a perfect place to hang out during a rain storm. The dock area has plenty of room and the water toys (kayaks and paddle board) were a plus. Lee and Marijke are perfect hosts, very responsive!
We just returned from a week at Overlake and it was one of the most memorable and special family vacations we have had. A main reason for that was the setting - Lee's (the owner) charming home. It's perfect. First, you get two homes in one here. The classic main cottage - clean, fast internet, plenty of room and a fantastic porch. Then you also get the barn/hayloft cottage as well. The hayloft is stocked with games and perfect for children. It also stays surprisingly cool. It's attached to the barn and a nice queen sized bedroom with a modern bathroom and tub. A perfect set up for two families. The lake is fantastic. Crystal clear water. Boats coming and going (you are close to a marina). There is a ladder you can maneuver down and a platform to stand on. Between both of the docks is about 3 and a half feet deep so you can stand and hold smaller children. It's almost all sandy around so you don't need to worry about rocks underwater or anything. The view is fantastic. The porch is great. Seeing all the boats out on the lake and sitting back in the Adirondack chairs with a cold drink. Something else you often don't see up on Lake George, especially lakefront, is all the green space this house has. There is a flat, manicured space right in front of the home you can play on that looks out onto the lake. There is also one in the back. There are so many positives to this home but saving the best for last is the owner. Lee and his wife are so down to earth and truly made us feel welcomed. You get the feeling if something were to go wrong they would make sure you could still have a great time and deal with anything else later. This is their family home and they treat it with the respect it deserves. It shows. Thank you Lee and your wife for a great week!
This house has been well cared for and a lot put into it. It has a beautiful view of Lake George, a dock with kayaks and a paddle board, a grill and a bar to hang out and have dinner down there. Lee and his wife have put so much effort into making this a warm and welcoming place. We highly recommend it!
