Newly restored 1910 Ozark Mountain Dogtrot Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay here. You can tell the owners put a lot of hard work into the property. We liked the old time pictures and history of the property. It was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. If we are in the area again, would definitely stay here.

We just loved the house. All the amenities that one can need. Not too far from the lake and local restaurants.

The property was lovely! They have clearly poured a lot of love into this place. The house has excellent attention to detail, woth each room uniquely and carefully themed. The grounds are beautiful and the house is warm and cozy - we especially loved the Christmas tree. A wonderful place to get away.

Absolutely love the Cottrell Cottage! It was a very clean & cozy stay! The ONLY downfall is some of the surrounding houses, but overall we were pleased & would stay here again.

Very clean, listing was accurate, excellent communication with hosts. An adorable cottage that has a lot of thought put into it. Emily was very responsive to a couple of very minor things we mentioned. All in all a very satisfactory experience.

This is the absolute best VRBO I have ever stayed in. Gorgeous restoration. Right from arrival it felt like walking through the door into home! Cosy, comfortable, well appointed, and the vintage decor is right on point. I recognized many of the things on the shelves and located around the house; my Nan used quite a number of these back in the day. Everytime I thought I'd seen it all, something I hadn't noticed caught my eye Never did work out what the item in the fireplace was :DI was hoping to find a quiet place to ring in the New Year. This was the perfect choice.So peaceful! I've only two regrets. First, I never did see Duke, maybe he was off on holiday :) Beautiful kitty visited daily. The other regret? I had to leave and come home.

We had the best stay here!! The history of the house was amazing and the owners have kept it original while adding the modern conveniences. Myself and my daughters stayed and we spent so much time trying to take in all the special touches like the history of the house and of Shirley, very cool to read about! And Duke the hounddog was the perfect touch, he roams Shirley getting love and food from everyone. Perfect place to stay so you're in the middle of all the towns to go and do and experience mountain life! Very clean, very homey, just overall a perfect home to stay in!! Also the field and the zero radius chairs, perfect for star gazing! We will definitely be back!!

This was our best VRBO stay ever. This home is restored and designed beautifully. Owners are very prompt with replies. So clean and beds are really comfortable. It’s also like a small museum about the home and area. We learned a lot about Shirley. We can’t wait to rent it again next year!

A great time Duke was a plus

First, probably the cleanest Vrbo we’ve ever enjoyed. The house is great…wonderful history, very interesting decor. Kitchen was well stocked, we cooked a legit meal and we had access to every thing we needed. Great weekend getaway!

This place was sso adorble every detail ws very thought out, the turned lights and heat on before we arrived . The place had everything we needed

We needed a place to stay near my husbands family and having a location in Shirley was perfect!! It was easy to get to other areas like Fairfield bay and Mountain View for other activities. Calm quiet area and my kids loved petting duke the neighbors dog who would come by and say hi!

My daughter and I spent the Thanksgiving Holiday at the Cottrell Cottage. It was the perfect getaway. Clean, close and everything we needed for a perfect trip!

The cottage is absolutely amazing! The attention to detail is impeccable and makes it feel like a walk backwards through time. The modern updates make it feel very homey and super comfortable. There was nothing else we needed for a week long stay. The neighbors and their hound dog are super friendly too! We will be back..
