There were some good features: excellent location; big, beautiful windows; spacious kitchen with amenities; comfortable living room. Not so good features: expensive; no wifi, need to ration water, lots of spiders and cockroaches; long list of do's and dont's, especially around cleaning up and preparing the house for the next guests.

The property was clean and well located Perfect for a relaxing time away. There is no wifi or microwave - it would have been useful if this had been specificall stated in the listing rather than being 'by omission'

Third time for us in this lovely spot. Great set up, great location, perfect holiday. And we sorted the bed this time by tightening the slats, all would be perfect with a new mattress in the room by the hills.

I loved this little house. Its location is perfect for access to Abel Tasmin coastal walk, the beach, the water taxis and kayaking. We found the home very comfortable, yes the beds sag slightly but not as bad as some previous reviews have suggested. It is well equipped, comfortable and has a range of games and books for time spent inside. Even when you are inside you can look out at the view and the birds in the garden. Loved it and recommend for a rustic retreat.

I just want to say this place is stunning, looks exactly like the picture, and is in an excellent location. I was really looking forward to this because the outside yard is also incredible and has great amenities. Unfortunately, we had to leave after 1 night because the place hasn't been treated for bugs. Of course being in nature bugs are to be expected, but this was COMPLETELY different and on another level. As soon as we arrived we found 2 dead roaches, but thought nothing of it and just took the trash outside. Once the evening came they started to come out in numbers. They were in the couch cushions, crawling on the ceiling, in the kitchen, and we even found one in our bed. We ended up sleeping on the kitchen table using towels as blankets and my purse as a pillow. We couldn't leave until the morning because there were no access to wifi, ride shares, pickups or taxis, or even boat rides to another location. As soon as the local cafe opened at 8am, we took all of our luggage and waited there until we could figure out our next steps. We were then forced to hitch a ride to another place that day, walking up a hill to the new location, making this trip extremely exhausting and traumatizing. I'm still waiting to hear back from the hosts for a refund. I'm really torn as this place is objectively beautiful and I'm sure an amazing time if treated for bugs. I think we just didn't come at the right time of the season.

We stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The yard is full of fruit trees and birds, and the lounging options are excellent. The design is great for a family and we were very comfortable. It is next to a holiday park but was very quiet the nights we were there. We came without a car and the location was perfect for being able to take water taxi trips into Abel Tasman. We ate both nights at Hooked and enjoyed it, and were able to get basics at the store. If we'd been organized a little better it would have been better to bring more groceries, since the kitchen is well supplied, but for the record this place does make it possible to enjoy the area without a car!

Loved that our dogs were allowed inside. Loved the easy sun filled house design. Beds a bit hard. Disappointed that there are no smoke alarms.

A lovely Bach, fitted out with everything, just needs new mattresses to get a higher rating. Location is interesting with the Bach nestled on a large section with a short walk to an amazing beach. Will definitely return as Marahau is a perfect holiday destination and this Bach is well worth returning to.
