Truly an island experience surrounded by tropical vegetation and coastal trees! Very private. Loved the fence for my dog. Great sea decor and charming key west/surfer shack appeal. Decks around home a joy, steps were easy. It is tight for 4 adults, but doable. Son appreciated his private downstairs lair. Kitchen well stocked but beware the holes in oven mitt (I got burned). Dishwasher, W/D, fridge, oven and appliances all worked great. AC nice and chilly on that hot island. Beds comfy, but not a fan of microfiber polyester sheets on summer skin (I brought my own cotton sheets)...and the pillows a bit flat. House shower a rain type but the outdoor shower strong. Nice updates done. Never got bit by any bugs even on upper open deck. Our hosts were responsive and kind and quite generous with their policies (VRBO can be a mixed bag...these hosts are easy to deal with and everything reasonable). Thank you so much...can't wait to get back :)

We had a quiet, relaxing vacation...just what we were looking for. It was very quiet in our neighborhood, rained a couple of days and that was nice. The kitchen is very well equipped, everything you could possibly need.

The property was clean, and communication with the host was easy and efficient. We were very comfortable. My only complaint is that the city garbage wasn’t collected, and there was the lingering stench of rotting fish hanging around the downstairs area.

My husband and I were very happy to return to Island Secret. It was a delightful home-away-from-home for our month-long stay, with our two kitties, at St. George Island. We would not hesitate to recommend this property for those looking for a rental in this area….super-comfortable outdoor spaces for enjoying both sunshine and shade; quiet neighborhood; quick walk to the beach; amazing grilling area, very well-stocked kitchen which made meal-prep a joy! The island is so bike-friendly. We rented bikes for the month from Island Dog; and were highly satisfied with the bikes provided. The kayak rentals through Whenever Watersports within Dr. Julian G Bruce State Park were great for paddling/fishing adventures. We had lots of fun with pier, surf, and kayak fishing…flounder, pompano, Spanish mackerel, whiting, sea trout. Thanks to the friendly/helpful/kind owners for sharing such a sweet cottage/property! Our time at St. George Island was amazing; and Island Secret is a gem of a rental!

Hosts were available for questions. Cottage was in a great location-a few blocks to downtown area and beach. Fenced in area for pets was a plus. Basement bedroom area-very small, smelled mildewy, door cannot be fully opened. Basement bathroom lacks adequate storage, no shelves for toiletries. Needs a good, thorough cleaning in basement and throughout cottage.Dishwasher does not clean dishes well-food residue left on plates, glasses, silverware. Clothes dryer seems very hot on various settings.

The cottage is everything you could hope for and then some. It’s the perfect retreat for anyone looking to getaway. From the patios, to the grills, outdoor shower, all of it is secluded behind an array of vegetation and wildlife. We were so pleased to see they had left a Christmas tree out during our stay over the holiday break. It was very endearing and meant a lot to my fiancé and I. Stay if you can because they don’t make VRBOs like this anymore.

The hosts were communicative and welcoming. The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage is adorable.

We enjoyed our holiday weekend at Island Secret. Relaxation, beach walks, good food. Never tire of St. George Island. Thirty plus years.

The house was exactly what we wanted and expected. It was a fresh glimpse of old Florida with the best of the Gulf coast. The house is small but absolutely great. Host was available but never intrusive.

All was as described. The natural setting was a plus as was the fenced area for dogs. Easy walk to the beach. Host offered us early arrival which was appreciated!

This cottage was a wonderful place to stay and the host was very kind and available for any questions we had. We look forward to going back next year !!

Perfect for my family. Pet friendly and safe. The privacy and outdoor shower were my favorite part. Close to beach and good seafood restaurants. Wish I could stay longer.

We loved our stay in this home! The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking full meals, the deck and closed in porch are amazing for hanging out and enjoying the weather, and the proximity to the beach is perfectly walkable. I am looking forward to my next visit to this cottage.

Love the fact we could bring our fur babies, they were safe with the drive through gate and fencing. Really enjoyed the folage around cottage, it makes it very private and cooler. Everything we could have needed was there for us. Very short walk to the beach.We will definitely be returning for another visit.

Loved this beach house! My teenager loved the more private room on the ground floor. This feels like a home away from home. All the eclectic decor outside was charming. Peaceful. Plenty of spaces to spread out and just have some quiet time to yourself. Super easy walk to the beach and right at public beach access. Bed was comfortable. Everything we needed was there and we felt very nestled in and secluded. Seems this may be an older house that was updated perfectly - job well done. My ONLY complaint is the water pressure in the shower was pitiful but that was so miniscule compared to everything else that was perfect. Very, very clean. We will be back!

Another fantastic stay....I almost hate writing reviews because I want Island Secret to remain out secret! The house an property were exactly what we like - a secluded cottage tucked away near an amazing beach!

We had a really good time. We enjoyed the house and location to the beach a lot!

Unit was very comfortable and clean. We loved the decor. Walk to the beach was doable for this 78 yr old. Especially important to me was the comfort of the bed and they were very comfortable. I slept well every night. My 16 yr old granddaughter loved her separate room. Privacy is very important to her!

Second time at this clean, comfortable beach cottage. We enjoyed our stay and really appreciate the quiet, yet conveniently located home. This is a special place- and feels like home-away-from-home. We hope to come back again!!

We LOVED this place. It was everything we expected and more! Comfy, close to everything, clean, private, and had everything we needed. We had a place booked for next year but cancelled 2 days into our stay here so we could rebook with Glen and Lawson. If you want fancy don't stay here.. but if you want to walk in and feel right at home at a very reasonable and affordable price..this is your place! Thanks a bunch to our fabulous hosts!!!

In a nutshell….these are thingsloved: coffee on the porchperfect for walking easy beach access delightful warm sunshine success with fishing on the pier and beach quiet time reading on the porch handy Piggly Wiggly for ANYTHING you need welcoming worship family in Appalachicola yummy food at The Blue Parrot adventures on bikes… Island Dog Rentals delicious treats at Aunt Ebby’s Ice Cream 🦤entertaining pelicans flying/diving Happy Hour around the yard trails Appalachicola National Estuary….free AND informative a well-stocked kitchen 🥘 birdwatching…Northern Cardinal, Gray Catbird, Black-capped Chickadee, American Redstart, Carolina Wren, Laughing Gull, Common Dove, Palm Warbler….all spotted from the porch! Weber’s Donuts…worth the wait pet-friendly nice neighborhood🧽 neat and tidy upon arrival Paddy’s Raw Bar….food, drinks, music, friendly crowd awesome grill easy/pleasant communication with ownersWe have already rebooked Island Secret; and I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to others.

Enjoyed our stay very much

This was our second stay at Island Secret, and it won’t be our last! We first visited for a week in February last year and loved it so much that we returned for two weeks this time. The privacy of this charming cottage, nestled in a treehouse-like setting just a few blocks from the beach, is truly special.One of the biggest draws for us was the fully fenced yard, which made it easy to relax and enjoy our time with our two dogs. The soothing sounds of the ocean combined with the beautiful collection of wind chimes placed by the hosts created a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Inside, the kitchen is impressively well-stocked with everything you could need—pots, pans, utensils, dishware, and even a variety of spices for cooking up a great meal.We had a wonderful time – thank you!

If your looking for a secluded little beachy home in the trees this for you. It was a easy walk to the beach . The kitchen was very well stocked. Just big enough for the 2 of us and a dog! Quiet, except for the sounds of the waves at the beach!

This property was really neat, convenient to public beach access and island amenities. The yard is fenced in, but if you have a smaller dog who likes adventures, there are a few places in the perimeter big enough to escape. The balcony is gated though, so that was a nice place to sit outside with the dogs. Owners were very communicative. We did not need to reach out during the stay, but they were very helpful during the booking process.

This is our second stay at this property, and we loved it just as much this time! We enjoyed having coffeee out on the balcony, hanging out inside and cooking dinner and breakfast, and walking down to enjoy the beach. We love St. George Island and Apalachicola and already can’t wait to return! The property is perfect, quiet, and exactly as described. Be sure to check out the outdoor shower as it’s fabulous when it’s not too cold out!

This cottage has easily become our happy place. Private but easy walk to beach. Local nature right outside your door. We loved it and will be back!

We arrived a few days after hurricane Helene so the driveway was a little flooded and the water didn't go down while we were there. It was to walk anywhere, had to get in the truck and drive to the end of the driveway
