Loon's Nest was purchased in the spring of 2017 and renovated to be family friendly, open, and comfortable! It's a great small cottage for a family or couple to enjoy the lake and all it has to offer!

We purchased and renovated our first house on Norcross Pond in 2016 (a 3BR+ down the lake - VRBO#886930) and were so excited when this smaller camp came up for sale on the same lake in 2017! We spent the spring of 2017 renovating have had a house full of guests since then! We hope you enjoy sharing our Maine getaway. You can see some of the renovation and lake photos on Instagram @LoonsNestMaine

House: The main living and gathering space is on the upper floor (kitchen, dining, living room with pull out sectional, and full bathroom), downstairs is one bedroom (queen bed, pull out full size sofa bed, and desk). Bedroom also has room for a pack and play (available upon request). Both levels have huge windows that overlook the lake and the new deck. There is a full kitchen equipped for cooking and a new oven, stove, and fridge in 2024. The house has a re-built deck, morning coffee area off the front of the house, and a happy hour deck down towards the beach. There is a small front patio (non-lake side) with a charcoal grill and seating area as well. Also, if you're coming with little ones, there is plenty of baby/toddler gear available if needed (high chair, pack and play, books, crayons, paper, games, toys, kids plates/cups/bowls/etc).

Note: The house does have stairs from the street to the house, in the house, and to get to the lake. Be sure that you are comfortable with this and able to navigate steps easily before booking.

Lakefront and Lake Description: Stairs lead from the house to a private beach area with dock, canoe, and paddle boat available for use (included). Norcross Pond is one mile long with camps and homes along one side only – keeping the lake quiet. Water is clear and the lake has a sandy bottom for great swimming. Speed boats, pontoon boats, and jet skis are allowed, but since the lake is small you don't gets boats out all day. A boat ramp is available if you want to bring your own boat to park at the dock (note, the boat ramp is dirt and steep). The lake is full of bass, perch, and stocked with trout, so bring your fishing rods no matter what season you visit. There are also nearby places for blueberry picking, hiking, movies, ice cream, restaurants, etc. The lake is amazing for fall foliage and is in close proximity to Mount Blue, Tumbledown, and Other hiking mountains for fall.

Local Things to Do: hiking, blueberry/strawberry/apple picking, movie theater, ice cream, lobsters, restaurants, markets, festivals, fair, antique shops, biking, beer garden, skiing, snowmobiling, and more.

Nearby Excursions: Farmington, Belgrade Lakes, Mount Blue, multiple ski mountains, Sandy River Railroad, DEW Animal Farm, Norlands Living History Center, Golf (Turner Highlands, Sandy River, Wilson Lake, and others), U Maine Farmington events, and more. Lots of excursions (hiking, skiing, ocean, and more) within 1-2 hours - Maine coastal towns (Camden, Rockport), Rangeley and Saddleback Mtn, Sugarloaf, Bethel/Sunday River Mtn, and more.

The cabin was a true Maine cozy camp right on the water. We absolutely loved it and will hopefully get a chance to stay in the future. Would highly recommend! The owners provided us with all the information we needed!

This was a wonderful house to stay in! Check was easy, the kitchen was well equipped and the pond was quiet and beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our son's dog had a wonderful time swimming off the dock!

Check in was a key in front of cabin behind a welcome sign. There were no window shades on main floor and the sun was hot. On a small septic and you had to conserve water. Steps in house were steep as were the steps down to the water. Parking was dangerous and the speeding cars made for a lot or anxious evenings. Had to empty dehumidifier at least 2 times every day. We are in our mid 70s and had we the chance to come here again we wouldn't. .

It’s a nice little camp. But it’s just that-it’s just a camp so if you’re looking for a fancy vacation rental, this isn’t it. For us, we were looking for a place to swim and fish and let our dogs swim so it was perfect. The only criticism I do have, is there something wrong with the bed. There’s like a hole in the middle and everybody just rolls towards each other. It was very uncomfortable. Also, they say there’s no AC, but it does get really hot especially at night time and most of the windows don’t open downstairs.

This was a wonderful place to stay. We were concerned about the lack of A/C for a couple of 90*F days, but the fans ended up being sufficient. The boats were great and we got a lot of use out of the canoes.

Our introduction to Maine included a stay in this cozy, comfortable lakeside cottage. We were within 1 1/2 hours from Rockport and 30 minutes to Manchester. The cabin was well stocked with essentials, but there are many delicious restaurants within an easy, scenic drive. So glad we chose this area, and the natural beauty of the pond is stunning. The homeowners were wonderful as well.

The accommodations were marginal at best. The cabin was obviously going through some renovation/remodeling. The most troubling part was how non-code compliant the stairs were going into the basement bedroom. They were downright treacherous The outside stairs going from the road into the cabin and down the side of the cabin were not much better. This should be made clear in the listing. We did not even stay the whole time.

Did not enjoy the 45 steps to and from the lake but we are both over 70. For years we camped on a lake in the Adirondacks and I pretended that we had a cabin on the lake. Now we rent a cabin on the lake and pretend that we are camping. But I enjoyed floating in the lake and canoeing.
