Stayed Jul 13, 2025I had a wonderful and restful time at Keanes Cottage. It was a good central location to a variety of places to go to and things to see. Bridie was a doll and supportive with a hiccup or two, that were quickly resolved! Rowland was great at communication and has a lovely home. I walked to the beach everyday and visited with the cows too. It’s just a gem of a home.

Stayed Jul 23, 2024The cottage does not feel like a rental. It is quite cozy and welcoming, and really feels like you aren't just a guest, but a part of the family.

Stayed Jul 6, 2024We stayed about 10 days. Cottage is centrally located between Waterford and Cork within 45 minutes each way. Town of Youghal is just accress the bay with shops and a few restaurants. Dungarvin, a bigger town is 20 minutes away. Cottage is a 5 minute walk to the bay. Owners were great and responded immediately when the refrigerator died. they arranged a temporary refrigerator from their efficiency nex door and got a new refrigerator within a few days. we only had to use our cooler for one night. Very friendy and responsive owner.

Stayed Jul 17, 2023My husband and I, along with out two daughter's (9 and 14) enjoyed about 2.5 weeks at Keane's Cottage and had the best of times. The cottage was a dream, very clean, in the perfect location for our needs, and leaving to come home was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I could not imagine staying anywhere else as the cottage had everything we could have possibly needed. I'd highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting the area.

Stayed Jun 20, 2019This is a lovely property in the quiet countryside. The cottage was amazingly clean and cozy. Chris and Marie met us there upon arrival and showed us around the place. Rowland was wonderful in checking in on us via email and text. The cottage is only minutes away from the town of Youghal and the views from the cottage are amazing. The house was plenty roomy for the three of us and could easily handle one more person. I would definitely stay here again!! Absolutely beautiful. The locals where very friendly! Bridie checked in on us and made sure everything was working. They even provided us with some basic necessities. Great place and great people!!!

Stayed May 29, 2018We were phoned by the owner prior to the holiday and enjoyed a chat. He also rang from USA to ensure all was well on arrival. We were welcomed to Keane's by the owner's extremely helpful custodian, Chris, into a beautiful home prepared by Bridie who is the housekeeper - a welcome food pack and fresh flowers. Both Chris and his wife, Marie, and Bridie were all readily available to answer any questions. Inside, the house is spacious and comfortable and tastefully decorated with antique furniture and collectables (I would not take my sister who is a handbag-swinging type of a girly). The sitting room is lush. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, we were not far from the lively town of Youghal where we chose to eat in the various, good restaurants - there is an excellent Chinese restaurant and Aherne's is really worth a visit as is The Old Quay. No, we didn't cook much but everything needed was there in the well-equipped kitchen. There is a utility equipped with washer and dryer which we made use of. The shower room and separate bathroom are spacious and well equipped with towels. Comfortable beds completed the pleasure. The garden was tranquil; barely a car, or person for that matter, passed by but those that did gave us a wave and had a short chat. This is what we love about Ireland, people always have time. We spent many an hour sitting out enjoying the peace and the birds. In conclusion, Keane's is quintessentially Ireland in a capsule, to us. Would we go again? If I tell you that I considered, in a flight of fancy, of squatting in the house (the owner is far too nice to inflict that on him) that should give you the answer. On the day we left we were invited for tea by Marie and Chris, where we said our goodbyes with slightly heavy hearts. Oh, yes, the Wifi works very well.
