Over the past few years it has been completely renovated inside and out, originally a shepherds cottage it is now a very modern living space.

Stayed Oct 14, 2025A comfy cottage for two in a quiet setting for a good night's sleep. Bigger than it looks from outside due to the open plan kitchen/sitting room. An ideal place for golfing, and horse riding, with a beautiful beach, and good walks. There is everything you need in the kitchen, but for a dining out, the Kinloch Hotel is just two miles down the road serving lovely food.

Stayed Jun 27, 2025Stayed here for 4 nights. Kitchen was well equipped and everywhere was nice and clean. Not a big outdoor space, but managed to make the most of the sun trap at the back for a while. Only a mile or 2 from Blackwaterfoot with a nice pub and bakery. Thoroughly recommended

Stayed Jun 24, 2025Ideally located cottage on the beautiful west coast of Arran. Well equipped and spacious cottage in a modern style. Nicely decorated and high comfort bathroom. The only disadvantage is the small bed.

Stayed Aug 24, 2024The cottage is cosy, clean and very inviting. Shiskine is a wonderful place to stay, quiet and very appealing. It's very close to Blackwaterfoot, which is beautiful. The Kinloch Hotel does marvellous meals (takeaways too). What really makes the stay worthwhile is the landlady, Jan. Last year, when we couldn't get off the island due to ferry problems, Jan put us up for an extra with no charge. This year, the same problem occurred and, while we were at Lochranza, she texted me to check things were OK. I assured her we were going via Claonaig, but just the idea that she was thinking of us is above and beyond the call of duty. We'd thoroughly recommend this property to anyone. Visit Arran. Stay at Shiskine. You won't be disappointed.

Stayed Aug 26, 2023Our host, Jan, really came through for us when a ferry mishap forced an extra day's stay on the island. She took it in her stride and moved us next door, without charge. I would definitely recommend this property and its owner. The island, by the way, is one of the friendliest places we've stayed, and that's saying something. Go to arran, book with Jan and you won't be disappointed.
