Stayed Mar 29, 2026My family of 6 (parents and 4 kids ages 9-16) had an absolutely amazing stay in this cabin. We visited Iceland once before (July 2024). Iceland was so amazing overall that we were eager for the chance to return. That time we did the Golden Circle, so we did the North this time. It was so beautiful, and this cabin was perfect. The hosts were attentive to all of our needs. Communication was quick and easy. The cabin was close enough to charming Akureyi to make runs to town easy, but it is still a totally remote setting. We saw the Northern Lights twice from the hot tub. I will never, ever forget that experience. Though truly just staying in the cabin would have been enough (the views are beautiful), we were also able to easily visit nearby sites. There was never a moment that I thought “I wish this cabin had…” because it had everything we needed and wanted. I could not recommend this beautiful home enough.

Stayed Jul 26, 2025Hamragil was a fantastic place to stay. There is so much room to move around. The place was clean and had just the right amount of decorating. We enjoyed the deck, bbq, and hot tub multiple nights. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and all set up for us. We appreciated the information brochures about the area and even found new spots to explore from the art on the walls. Google photo search helped us with this! We highly recommend this home for anyone in the Akureyri area. It was an excellent location to explore Akureyri, Húsavík, and the Diamond Circle. One thing to note is that there are stairs from the parking area to the house. It wasn’t a problem for us but maybe for others.

Stayed Jun 16, 2025We love being in the country. The house surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It worked perfectly for our plans. We went to all the attractions on the north end and east . Visited Raufarhofn, Husavik , Arttic Henge, Egilsstadir seeing waterfalls, caldrons, amazing canyons, lighthouses, sheep and horses. Great restaurant , Farm to Table I believe was the name. Akuyeri was a short drive away. Great place to stay and explore.

Stayed Jun 29, 2024Loved this place. Our 7 travelers were very comfortable with lots of space for all. The views and the setting…. As beautiful as it was peaceful and private. The babbling brook was a wonderful surprise. The geothermal hot tub is a true gem!.

Stayed Jun 7, 2024Absolutely amazing location, just a short drive to Akureyri for any groceries, restaurants or shopping you may like to do, while feeling remote and relaxed in nature. Short distance to amazing hikes, and a feeling of being separated from the hustle and crowds that summer in reykjavik possesses.

Stayed Mar 12, 2024We were impressed from the moment we entered the property. It was clean, well stocked with amenities for our stay and extremely spacious for our family. For me personally the hot tub was the highlight of the stay and sitting outside in a warm tub under the wintery night sky was just magical. The only thing to note, and nothing to do with the property but there is a toll on the tunnel through the mountain on the fastest way to the close town of akureyri at 1800ISK per way.

Stayed Aug 13, 2023We had a lovely time and felt so relaxed. The common is large for everyone to gather to eat and play games. We loved having a soak in the geothermal pot in the evening and having my morning coffee on the porch overlooking so much beauty.

Stayed Jun 11, 2023We had a great time. The property was clean and spacious for our family of 5. The only thing we weren’t aware of was that the tunnel to Akureyri was between the house and the town, so a quick jaunt into taunt meant an $11 toll each way. However, we just took the slightly longer, toll-free way, around the tunnel which was lovely and picturesque. That might be a problem for winter travelers, however, as I understand that bypass is a bit treacherous. That being said, we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again if we come back. Totally recommend it.

Stayed Nov 19, 2022We just loved this property. This was a perfect location for us, out in the country, but so close to Akureyri! We love a clean, newer feel place that feels like home. This place was absolutely perfect! Everything was in order, all communication was perfect and timely. Jon was just wonderful. Couldn't have been better. Hope to be back. Thank you Jon!

Stayed Jul 17, 2022Our family rated this our favorite house in Iceland! The views are just stunning from every direction. We spent the day in Akureyi (short 15 minute drive), visited the awesome Godafoss waterfall (15 minute drive), and Lake Myvatn attractions (45 minutes). You’ll love having morning coffee in the deck!
