Sunny, private, peaceful, safe, 2-bedroom, 2-full bath cottage on a quarter of a tropically-landscaped acre. There are hardwood floors, 12-ft ceilings & off-street parking for 2 cars. There is a large private back yard and back covered deck for gathering with family and a fully fenced spacious grassy area shaded by trees for dogs, which we welcome. The home has 2 separate private bedrooms with comfortable queen beds. The large living has a Pottery Barn queen sleeper sofa and there is an air mattress should guests want to sleep separately.

The home is in the quaint, walkable, quiet family and dog-friendly neighborhood of Bayou St John, with cafes, bistros, a wine & cheese shop, a coffee house & a neighborhood market within a 5 minute walk. The bayou, kayak rentals, bike rentals, City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art are less than a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter, Treme & Marigny neighborhoods are a mile away, about a 25 minute walk.

The home has central air and heat, 5 smart TVs, cable, wireless internet, ceiling fans, large custom oak bedroom closets, granite countertops, a stackable washer and dryer, nespresso machine, quality linens, down comforters & Ralph Lauren towels.

There is a marble shower and cypress French windows opening to a banana tree grove above the 2-person bathtub. Furnishing are largely white slipcovered, comfortable French antiques & vintage paintings.

The kitchen is fully stocked, has Cuisinart stainless steel cookware, and there is a library of cookbooks, local authors & children’s books as well as board games for both children & adults. There is a bar in the living room with vintage cocktail glasses & liquor & wine decanters.

The property is landscaped with citrus, fig, papaya, camellia & palm trees, a banana grove & fragrant night blooming jasmine, sweet olive, gardenia, ginger, wisteria, angel trumpet, plumeria, roses & herbs.

The home is the back unit of a historically renovated 1890’s home, separated into 3 apartments. The two front apartments do not have backyard access or off-street parking; the private backyard & off-street parking is only for the back VRBO rental to ensure privacy during stay.

The home is a half a block to bus stop on Esplanade Ave at CC’s Coffee House; & 5 blocks to the street car at Esplanade Ave & Carrollton Ave. Uber, Lyft and local taxis are accessible as well.

Bayou St. John neighborhood is listed in Top 10 Neighborhoods in America in Men’s Journal Magazine “…The winding waterway where picnickers lounge on grassy banks and kayakers paddle their way up to Lake Pontchartrain creates a pastoral backdrop for Bayou St. John’s bungalows. This property is so charming! Quiet, with all kinds of special spaces to unwind in after a day of having fun in the city. Easily accessible to any part of the city by car, but is particularly close to City Park and the Fairgrounds. Well appointed with anything you need. We REALLY love the back porch, too. When we arrived, the perfect NOLA station was playing for us on the radio. So many lovely special touches. We hated to leave.

The location was great to walk to local restaurants and even a great coffee place across the street. Having off street parking was amazing worth looking into when visiting. The kitchen had every kind of pot and gadget to make an excellent meal. Loved the porch and Living Room to relax. Very respond to any questions for the Host.

I agree with all of the other great reviews of this home. I will add on top of everything else that’s been said, you will get a real feel for NOLA staying in this place. It oozes of the New Orleans culture. A question came up in this review about being family friendly. Extremely safe neighborhood, but I do not think this is an approptiate space for small children. Too many interesting things in the house to get into. Would give it 11 stars if I could.

The home was beautiful, clean, quiet, and well stocked with everything you could need for cooking and personal care. Loved the private driveway and back yard. So many treasures and books to review and admire. Mya is quick to respond and very helpful/accommodating. Location is perfect and was a three minute drive to Derbes Mansion. Coffee shop nearby. We absolutely loved our stay and if I ever go back to NOLA I would want to stay here. Don’t hesitate to book this property, I can promise you will enjoy your stay and conveniences as much as we did.

We absolutely loved our stay here—one of our favorite homes we’ve ever rented! It’s full of charm and character, and it felt more like visiting a friend’s home than staying in a rental. The kitchen was stocked with every utensil and tool you could need. Hands down the most well-equipped Vrbo we’ve experienced!

We stayed during Jazz Fest 2025 which was in walking distance which was great so we didn’t need to worry about parking. The house was totally New Orleans filled with antiques and wherever you looked were interesting items and books. Inspired me to do a little redecoration when I got home. Would highly recommend!

We have stayed at Mya’s lovely rentals several times before, each time enjoying being here. This visit is no exception - comfortable surroundings, easy use of the appliances and access to amenities as well as the neighborhood. We especially enjoyed the patio area which has been fixed up more since our last stay. Also, we know that it is easy to contact Mya although there was no need to do so this time. We definitely would stay here again!

We had a fantastic time staying at Mya's place. The location is exactly what we were looking for. Very peaceful and quiet but yet walking distance to great restaurants and a market. The house is very cozy. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back again. The off street parking is also a great added bonus. Highly recommend!!

The property was exactly as described, and we had a fantastic time in New Orleans. The owner was very communicative and even ordered us a coffee grinder! When the neighborhood power went out for several hours, she provided us with information about the gas fireplaces, where to find candles, flashlights, batteries, etc. A wonderful experience overall.

Beautifully decorated and comfortable 2 bedroom cottage in a wonderful historic neighborhood. The rental is the back part of a vintage house - very private and quiet. Lovely gardens. You can walk to several coffee shops, restaurants and 2 grocery stores. Mya was very responsive to any questions we had, and the rental had everything you could possible need. I would definitely stay there again.

We were in town for a family wedding. This property is comfortable, well-cared for and charming, with lots of character. Mya, the owner, was very responsive and provided many recommendations about restaurants, attractions, logistics, etc. We walked to many places and the access to City Park was really nice. We had perfect weather to explore NO, but the property would have been a pleasant place to curl up with a book or watch a movie too. It was a delightful visit.

Home was so inviting and cozy. Beds were comfortable also (that’s important to me). We loved walking across the street for coffee and pastries in the morning. We felt safe enough in this neighborhood to go for evening walks and enjoy the architecture of the different homes in this area. The backyard is just a treasure trove of things to look at. We truly enjoyed our stay here. Our host was so good at getting back to us promptly
