Trails, beaches and outdoor adventures nearby
• Ludington State Park is just a short drive away and is often considered one of Michigan’s best state parks. It offers over 18 miles of marked trails running through sand dunes, forests, along the Big Sable River, and around Hamlin Lake. Popular hikes include the Skyline Trail boardwalk, the Island and Lost Lake loop, and trails out to Big Sable Point Lighthouse with its spectacular Lake Michigan views. Along with hiking and biking, the park also offers swimming beaches, picnic areas, paddling opportunities, and winter activities when there is snow.
• Huron‑Manistee National Forest is also within easy reach. This large public‑land area provides miles of additional trails, forest roads, rivers, and scenic drives. Depending on the season, guests enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, fall color drives, snowshoeing, cross‑country skiing, and more. It is a great way to experience quiet, wild Michigan landscapes during the day and then return to your private cottage at night.

Lakes, rivers and beaches
This cabin is particularly well‑situated for guests who love water.
• Hackert Lake – Located about 1–2 miles from the cottage, with public access for fishing, paddling, or a quick swim.
• Lake Michigan & Ludington public beach – Approximately 9 miles away. Ludington offers wide sandy beaches, swimming, sunsets, and easy access to town amenities.
• Pere Marquette River – A well‑known nearby river for fishing and paddling, popular with anglers and float trips.
• Manistee area – Within driving distance for additional Lake Michigan beaches, Manistee River access, fishing charters, and the charm of a Lake Michigan harbor town.
• Whether you bring your own boat, book a fishing charter, or just want to swim and enjoy the beach, there are plenty of options within a short drive.

Location: between Ludington and Manistee
• The cottage is in a quiet rural area surrounded by forest. You have the privacy of being on 80 acres with no close neighbors, but you are still close enough to town for convenience.
• Short drive to Ludington for groceries, restaurants, shops, marina, and Ludington State Park
• Easy drive to Manistee for additional beaches, dining, and the Manistee River/waterfront
• Country and dirt roads in the area provide a classic “up north” feel and are fun for scenic drives and bike rides

Came for the Michigan State disc golf championship, the house is in the perfect location between the courses. Enjoyed large yard, very quiet the whole stay. Definitely would stay again.

This is a beautiful place to stay, quiet, and we enjoyed the wildlife and beauty of the trees and flowers.A few things would help make the stay a little nicer. We enjoy a big breakfast but there weren't any bowls in the cottage to mix pancakes or eggs. Also, there weren't any dish towels (had to run to Meijer). The claw foot tub is very cool but not so easy to get in and out of especially with the step right under it and nothing to grab on to. More towels would be great, only two hand towels and washcloths, 3 bath towels so I was washing every day.ANTS, and spider webs, oh my! I understand in the middle of woods you are bound to have black ants but we killed sooo many, my husband looked in the laundry room and found a spray can that took care of part of spraying around the house.Hope this helps for the future guests.

Enjoyed our stay in the quiet woods. Liked the cabin very much. It was furnished nicely with everything one needs. I would certainly go back again. My only complaint would be about the bath tub because of my age and ability to get into a tall deep tub. Loved the woods and seeing deer!

My family of 5 had a wonderful time on our vacation. The cottage was well maintained. We especially liked the light on the bathroom faucet. As other reviews mentioned, screens on the windows would've been nice to allow the fresh air to flow through. I wish I had known to bring the following: -Outdoor chairs. Despite the photo, there were no cushions on the patio chairs. The steel frames were uncomfortable. -Casserole dish. There are no casserole dishes or big mixing bowls. Overall, my family had a great holiday weekend. We were close to downtown Ludington and Lake Michigan. My 5-year old even asked, Next time can we stay 6 days instead of 5? He didn't want to leave. We would stay here again.

The cottage was clean and met our needs. The location was about 15 minutes to the State Park and 10 minutes to shopping. The site was quiet and lovely. I would be very happy to stay here again.

My family of 4 recently stayed at this property over the holiday weekend. I was looking for a rustic cottage in the woods and boy did this place deliver! It was even better than I imagined. It was clean, nicely decorated (especially for a rustic cabin), the property was absolutely beautiful and the cabin had everything we needed. All we had to do was bring our personal things and food. The location was perfect. It seemed like we were in the middle of nowhere when at the cabin and yet we only had a quick drive to be right in the middle of Ludington or at the beach. The communication with the owner was great and extremely timely. We loved it and would recommend to everyone to stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The grounds were beautiful. The patio is a great place to relax -it's nice to have a campfire at night. It was a good location- secluded, but not too far from the state park. The kids bedroom is really beautiful and even had a piano! The one thing that was frustrating was that there were no screens in the windows in the family room area, so you couldn't open the windows in the common area. Also, there was no wifi. Overall, a nice relaxing vacation spot.

Nice retreat in the woods. Bring bug spray! The place is a bit run down and we found no trails on the property. Still, it was a nice, quiet place.

This was a great place to be for our family. It is perfect for kids, close to Ludington but also quiet and peaceful. The house and yard had everything we needed.
