Wellfleet, Massachusetts
This carefully maintained cottage is ideal for family vacations from spring through fall: less than 350 yards from sandy beaches on Cape Cod Bay, an ideal spot for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, and matchless shell-fishing. Stroll home for lunch, a late afternoon nap, or back to the western-facing beach for the beautiful sunsets. Close to art galleries, fresh water ponds, restaurants, and a short drive to ocean beaches in the isolation of the National Seashore.
The house has one bedroom on the first level, and three on the second floor (one of which is ideal for a nursery), with a 160 sq. ft. deck off the master bedroom; two baths, and a recently renovated kitchen. A new Vermont Castings gas stove keeps the evenings warm when needed. At the rear, a patio and outdoor shower are linked to the upper deck. The wooded setting is perfect for quiet relaxed living.
This house was the perfect setting for our summer trip to Wellfleet. We were outside most of the time as the house has several great spots like an outdoor shower and a grassy yard which is hard to come by down the Cape! But the best perk by far was the short walk to several breathtaking beaches on the bayside. It was a wonderful week!
Lovely cheerful cottage, wonderfully furnished and decorated. Multiple outdoor areas to relax in. Bay beach right down the street was awesome. Lots of shells! Wellfleet offers many beautiful kettle ponds as well. The town pier area has great eating alternatives and our favorite, the Wednesday night square dance! Hope to return next year.
We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, well equipped beach cottage. We loved being able to walk to bay beaches. We enjoyed the deck off the bedroom, even though the screen on the sliding door didn’t seal tightly to the door. The deck was wonderful, with a sunscreen that provided a cool place to sit even during the hottest days. The bedrooms were a comfortable size with adequate storage and comfortable beds. The door to the Queen bedroom squeeked every time it was opened, even though WD40, which was left in the room, was applied. There was no air conditioning but fans were supplied. The living room was spacious and comfortable and with the windows open had a nice cross draft that cooled it off on hot days. There were 3 seating areas outside in a nicely landscaped wooded setting. We had a pleasant stay.
Cottage was overall clean - but buggy with many ants and spiders. Ant hills throughout the backyard. Cobwebs in corners and overhangs in some rooms. . Bathrooms clean and well maintained as was kitchen which was well stocked. Bottom bedroom and living room poorly lit and ventilated, but fans are available in most rooms. In need of TV - (only a small {15?} computer monitor with DVD player was available. No cable TV Owner was responsive and answered emails timely.
We really enjoyed our stay at this sweet, casual beach cottage. Our kids loved being able to walk down to Burton Baker Beach to catch crabs, swim, or to watch the sunset. The Ocean beaches (Cahoon Hollow being our favorite) and fresh water ponds keep us coming back every year. You can tell the family who owns this home cares for it - - - it's the small things like the great outdoor shower and original artwork on the walls. It's a summery type home, so don't expect Comcast or wall-to-wall carpeting. It's peaceful and charming. We plan on staying there again.
