Enchanting Bar Harbor Cottage

The unit was clean with a well equipped kitchen. The host was extremely helpful if we had a question plus he gave us helpful tips about the area, restaurants, etc. . The fireplace made it nice and cozy. It was very soothing to be in the woods and watch the deer from the windows.

We arrived at Far Niente in the evening and the cottage looked cute sitting aglow in the trees. The beds are firm and comfortable, the cottage has a cozy energy and it’s a great place to get away from the crowds of Bar Harbor while still being very close. John is an excellent host with clear and consistent communication. I hope to return soon and this will definitely be where I stay if so.

John was an amazing host. The Far Niente has everything you could need and more. The building is very cozy and was great place to stay. John also provided a lot of great recommendations for things to do and checked in several times to make sure everything was going well. Would love to stay here again for future visits.

This was the PERFECT place to stay for our week exploring Mt Desert Island. My wife, dog, and I stayed in the cabin while my in-laws were in the cottage and we had plenty of space to relax while also having a bit of separation. It was convenient to get everywhere we needed via car and the house is stocked with everything you could need. John was an amazing host and I would recommend Far Niente to anyone who wants to have a cozy place to call home while visiting beautiful Maine.

The cabin is wonderful - cozy and charming, especially with the beautiful layer of snow! The mattress in the loft is very comfortable. The host was very accommodating, kind and very helpful. Amazing host and location.

John (the host) was very welcoming and sent helpful information on local restaurants as well as added in some personal recommendations. The property very well kept and was a very nice place to stay; it was very close to many of the hiking locations in Acadia National Park.

My husband and I enjoyed our visit to this cozy cabin with our dog on our first visit to Mt. Desert Island. It was full of detail and charm. It felt like the perfect size for a couple's getaway. The dog really enjoyed sleeping by the gas fire place as well. It met our needs for the week and very conveniently located as we hiked throughout the island. We also enjoyed having a little distance from the touristy bar harbor. Thank you John!

Staying here was an absolute treat! The location was amazing and just a quick drive to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor and John made it the most accommodating and easy trip. Would definitely stay here again if I came to the area!

We had a wonderful stay at John's charming cottage! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The cottage was immaculately clean, cozy, and full of charm—truly a perfect retreat. It had everything we needed, including a fully stocked kitchen which made cooking meals super convenient.The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, offering a relaxing atmosphere after a day of exploring. We also loved the location—just minutes from Acadia’s Hulls Cove Visitor Center and only about 10 minutes from Bar Harbor village center. It couldn’t have been more convenient.One of the best parts for us was that the cottage is pet-friendly, which made it possible for us to bring our furry family member along on the trip—such a bonus!John was a fantastic host—very helpful, responsive, and welcoming. His attention to detail really made our stay easy and enjoyable.We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and would gladly come back for another stay!

Our expectations were high, and the place was even more charming than we expected. The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable, beautifully designed and decorated. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools we needed from making our morning coffee to cooking a lobster dinner. Although it is close to town, the dense woods made it feel cozy and secluded. The host was incredibly thoughtful, and always available to answer questions. This was a unique property, and we are hoping to come back again soon.

A gem of a property, quiet wooded setting yet close to hiking and biking and in-town fun.The nicest host. Who makes it easy to feel immediately relaxed and at home. A true escape, beds so comfortable, decor so inviting. Like being at a summer camp for adults. With an excellent well-resourced kitchen too!

Had a wonderful stay at this cottage. Perfectly located near Hulls Cove, close to Pirates Cove, a short walk to the ocean, and quick drive to downtown Bar Harbor. Especially loved the seated area for reading, and the private outdoor space and separate back bedroom. Perfect breeze at night!

Super cozy space, excellent location just a short drive from Bar Harbor. Appreciated the fenced in yard for our dog, and the guitar since we were there to make some music. :)We can't wait to visit again!

I can not tell you how Special this place is !! As soon as you pull in , its like a fairy tale place. Loved , loved our stay. Has everything you need . Enjoyed the deck out back. Loved the cabin room out back. Windows opened to hear the birds. Area is quiet, relaxing. So close to town. Great communication with the owner John. We didn't want to leave !! Awesome memories here.

This is a great place if you want peace and quiet during your mornings and evenings. Great space to just hang out with the family. The cottage is located on a loop that is almost a mile long with very little traffic if you like taking walks and the scenery is amazing. There is a fully furnished kitchen if you like to cook!! My daughter and I had a great stay.The owner is super nice and so very helpful with anything you might need. He answered all of the questions that we had come up and never seemed like we put him out!! This will be my go to place when I visit Bar Harbor again!!

We had the most perfect vacation! This house and host are wonderful. John has thought of everything and the charm abounds! The location is perfect, close enough to Bar Harbor center but far enough away to have some peace and quiet. The short walk to the water is beautiful. We highly recommend this property!

What a magical cabin experience for us! The loft the deck, the other bedroom cabin. Exactly the experience we were hoping for: a comfortable cabin that felt like home. And John was an excellent host. We meant to meet in person to say hi, but we ran out of time. Next time, though! We’ll be back, because we loved it so much! Do not pass this one by!

Excellent place to stay

The cottage was a great time for my partner and I. We wanted a relaxing getaway for our anniversary and this place provided just that! Very close to Bar Harbor and fairly easy to navigate the area. John stayed in touch and truly showed that he wanted us to have a great stay!

We enjoyed a long winter weekend in Acadia. Far Niente cabin lived up to its name “do nothing” reminding us to relax as sometimes the best adventures come in the quiet moments spent in nature. Wonderful host John provided us with recommendations for activities and restaurants. Cabin was clean and we loved the cozy fireplace. We look forward to visiting again!

The cottage is so cute and cozy. Exactly as described and stocked with what any visitor might need. The host was communicative and helpful. We had a blast, place very nice and very comfortable

The property was as advertised. John was very much in communication via text with suggestions on enjoying the Bar Harbor area, which was much appreciative. The property was very clean and the location was great and convenient to both the town as well as different parts of Acadia NP. We stayed here 5 years ago and when we come back to the area we will stay there again.
