Stayed Feb 20, 2025Many positives! Clean, comfy beds, and nice touches like water bottles, fresh coffee. Charming and historic cottage. It appeared at first that there was good communication, in fact a bit much! However, renter be aware, the second bedroom (child size twin beds) and bathroom are in an attic room only reachable via very steep set of stairs; furnace didn’t work, temperature in cottage was in 50’s for first day and night and part of second day, until owner brought a heater. Kitchen sparsely provisioned, only 2 pots, both huge.Biggest issue: unfortunately our car windshield was smashed by a large rotting branch falling from a tree. We were directed to park in a specified spot on the street; a huge tree hangs over that spot, with much evidence of rotting branches. We lost 2 days of our vacation having to deal with getting repairs, plus hundreds of dollars to replace the windshield and wipers. We were so very disappointed in the response from owner, basically saying not her responsibility, tree is on city property. For the remainder of our stay, we received no response to any messages we sent.We still left the place in excellent condition nevertheless.

Stayed Nov 20, 2024I stayed here for almost 5 weeks during a job transfer until I closed on my home. Positives - location is great, 10-15 min walk to downtown and riverfront. Neighbors are very friendly. House is clean with a great washer/dryer.Negatives - the house just does not heat up. If the outside temperature is below 45 degrees, the warmest the house will get is 64 -66 degrees. I spent 150 on space heaters. The floors have been coated with something and are very slick. I brought two small, elderly dogs and ended up purchasing three runners from Target so my dogs could walk on the floors. Be careful on the stairs. My little dog fell down the slippery stairs within 5 minutes of arriving at the home and thought she needed a 17,000 spine surgery. I never went up the stairs again, no need. I would say the worse part of the stay was the attitude of the owner. When I explained how cold it was in the house, she advised me to wear long underwear. I wear suits and high heels to work daily. The circuit breaker tripped and she accused me of it being from my space heaters. No reply in two hours so a neighbor came over and got electricity on. The owner chastised me for not calling her which I had and I had left a message.

Stayed May 16, 2024We loved the location of this home. Check-in was easy and the host stayed in contact throughout our month-long stay. She was very responsive and accommodating. The home was nice and we appreciated the AC as it was very humid in May/June.

Stayed Apr 30, 2024I had the most wonderful stay in Wilmington! The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood, with amazing and friendly neighbors. Very easy to walk anywhere, and plenty of grocery, and other stores nearby. The home is comfortable, and the owner Christine is so friendly and easy to communicate with! Everything was clean and ready for my arrival. It's street parking, but I never had an issue finding a parking space directly in front of the house. I would absolutely recommend this stay for anyone looking to spend a little time in Wilmington and look forward to another stay if I find myself in the area. Thank you!

Stayed Dec 1, 2023Great location, close to downtown, really nice neighborhood for walking. The house is nicely equipped- everything works pretty well. Chris is a responsive owner and was great to work with. Our only complaint, and it’s a big one depending on when you stay, is the house is VERY poorly insulated. We were there during a particularly cold stretch in January and even with the heat blasting, we were waking up to indoor temperatures in the mid 50’s to low 60’s. All the heat went upstairs and it was really cold on the first floor, really hot upstairs. This wouldn’t be an issue for most of the year - not sure how it would be in the summer. But if you’re planning a winter stay, bring enough clothes to dress warmly inside. -Ray

Stayed Jun 3, 2023I love the simplicity of the house. It is perfect for what I wanted and needed. An older home restored without losing any of the old character. The location could not have been better. A short walk to all the action of this hidden gem of a city. Even closer is Castle St with its small shops, INCREDIBLE yoga studio, CBD bar that hosts open mic on Thursday which is a must attend. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Neighbors all say hello as they walk their dogs. The trees and flowers are old and full of life. The beach is a 30min drive. If that’s your goal my advice for those with a 4x4 go to Ft Fisher and use the drive on beach. Well worth the time and effort. I’m glad to recommend this house even tho selfishly I want it to myself.
