The location is awesome. Right in the center of Broadway, makes walking to everything a breeze. Host was very responsive to communication. She also left bottles of water and candy on the bedside table. The room is small which I knew from previous reviews and didn’t care. I knew we wouldn’t be spending a ton of time there. My issue was upon arrival it seemed clean. Bedding was definitely fresh and the sink and toilet were clean. But I soon realized that was it. The bathroom was pretty gross. There was black mold and all along the perimeter was just dirty. In the bedroom area it was the same. The floors were dusty and there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and under the furniture. I get it. Stuff gets dirty but the space is so small, to not take the effort to really clean and maintain the space for guests just doesn’t make sense. We were very excited about the location. This was our 5th trip to Jim Thorpe and we plan on returning, but it won’t be there.

The Cottage was the perfect space for an overnight stay. It was private, clean & comfortable. The owner communicated with necessary details & answered questions promptly. While no parking on-site, the public parking at train station is a short 2 block walk. Overnight rate is $8 - it ends at 6AM, so you much visit kiosk to pay again to extend time. (We arrived at kiosk at 8:30 & there was no “ticket” given for being past 6AM).

If a place is advertised as a rental house, one assumes there is on-site parking. I would not have rented this without it had I known. I was then informed that there was parking in front of the building and that a few blocks down the street was public parking, but that I was coming during fall fest. The night before I arrived, I found out that the parking in front of the cottage was metered, and the public parking lot was full after a three-hour drive. It took me 40 minutes to go one mile. I could not park anywhere. The public parking was $25 from 6AM to 6 PM. Where do I park after that? I went to the event I was there for and decided I had been deceived into renting this place, so I drove five hours home for a total of 12 hours driving that day without entering the property I paid $275.05 to stay at for one night. I want a refund. I would suggest avoiding business dealings with this owner. She is not forthcoming.

Spent one night in Jim Thorpe after white water rafting. Due to another guest mistakenly went to the lower room and we ended up getting an upgrade to the upstairs suite. It was a beautiful experience, such a well maintained old home. The place was meticulously cleaned, the bed was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was spacious and well lit. We went to look for a dinner option and found Ouros right next door, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was light and fun. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a place to spend a night.

The bed is super hard. Bathroom has an old house smell, which is to be expected. Could use a plug-in air freshener for this reason. :-)
