Surry, Maine
Charming, cozy, newly-renovated cottage with beautiful vistas. Very close to Acadia National Park and just a few minute walk to the lovely Morgan Bay.
The cottage is elegant as well as rustic. A rare combination of nature, comfort and class. The cottage is located on an old Maine farm. A unique performing arts center is located a few hundred feet away. A lovely meditation center is also just a few minutes walk down the road.
There is a piano in cottage for anyone who wants to explore expressing themselves in music.
This apartment is located in a spacious, newly-renovated Maine barn on a beautiful and historic farm. It is a five minute walk to nearby scenic Morgan Bay, very close to hiking trails, biking and swimming. Acadia National Park is about 45 minutes away.
The farm offers a seasonal performing arts center featuring classical, jazz, singer songwriter and blues series among others.
Few rental spaces offer all of this in a ten-minute radius.
Pets: Dogs and cats are welcome, but you must contact me in advance so we can discuss details. Upon approval, there is an additional cleaning fee of $50.00 for the one pet or $80 for two pets. The fee for the first pet is included in your VRBO total. If bringing more than one pet, the additional pet fee is payable in cash at checkout. Stays longer than 7 days will need to discuss possible additional pet cleaning fees with the host. Please note that many animals live near the property and frequently walk through it (such as deer, wild turkeys, neighbors' cats, etc.) A porcupine lives under one of the barns, so we recommend keeping dogs on a leash when outside to avoid injury.
Late arrivals after 9:00 PM are subject to a late fee of $25.00.
Additional guests: For more than 2 guests, there is an additional fee of $25 per guest per night.
We had an absolutely wonderful time in this cozy cabin. It had everything we needed, and was positioned perfectly to get outside and into town while we were there. The view was stunning. Thank you for having us!!
I had a very pleasant stay with my dog Louise. The other buildings are very close by so it has a small neighborhood vibe.
Wonderful stay. Very clean and cozy.
The location was great except that we were under the impression it was closer to Acadia. Our own fault for not mapping it out entirely. The checkin process was a bit confusing. We reached out the day prior but never heard back. When 5 min out I messaged again but no response prior to arrival at the previously noted checkin time. The parking description both on here and in the cabin advise to park on the grass to the left of the cabin. That spot does not exist though so it left us a bit stumped as to the best place to park a full size truck. We made our way into the cabin by guessing if it was open or not. It was and we let ourselves in. The host called me after we were in and was very pleasant to talk with. The heat was at 50 upon arrival so that was a bit of a challenging way to start when arriving to a cabin at the end of December. The heat pump had to be turned on and off a few times to get it to push heat, after that it was heating by the time we were leaving for dinner. I gave 3 stars for cleanliness because I had to wash the shower floor and sink out as they didn’t appear to have been cleaned. The shower (and toilet) when turned on left black particles all over the floor, that stopped after it ran for a bit though. All in all we had a great stay and the view is beautiful but I cannot say we would be back during the off season.
We enjoyed the cottage very much. It was a little further from Acadia then we had originally thought, but an easy drive.
Cozy cottage just far enough away from the touristy spots. A short ride to Acadia. No tv which was just fine. The owner was very nice.
We didn't know what to expect since we were coming in behind a hurricane. It was beautiful Alan was nice and wonderful he told us about what nearby and even had maps and information on acadia and bar harbor. It was beautiful to see the sunrise and deer just outside our door. Very peaceful we will definately be back.
Beautiful
From the moment we arrived we felt like we were part of something special. Alan walked us around his property, he shared ideas, listened to our interests and sent us on adventures. We explored for days and were lucky enough to be able to sit by the fire and share stories and bond with the others. We would give Alan 10 stars if we could! He gave us the opportunity to fall in love with Maine. He treated like family and we found it hard to leave. We will be back for sure.
Such a kind and gracious host. Beautiful location. Thank you!
We loved having our Cottage w a view as our warm oasis from a rained out camping trip to Acadia. It was a pleasure to meet Alan and so appreciated the care he took in showing us the property and cottage. He’s clearly created a very special place for healing through music. My only note is that it felt stressful to have to communicate via phone while hiking at Acadia to coordinate specific arrival time with owner. We had hoped for a more relaxed end to our day at the mountain. Otherwise great.
Newly renovated cottage was spotless, plenty of hot water and heat, comfortable queen bed and a piano! Convenient spot with a dog, just one step up and extensive lawns for walks; near beaches and hiking trails. The owner lives on the property and was a pleasure to work with.
Alan was a great host. He was very informative and kind during our stay. The property is beautiful and was the perfect getaway.
The cabin was great. It's in a rural area with a fantastic view. It's in a location that makes it easy to visit Acadia National Park and the surrounding towns on Mount Desert Island. Alan is a great host, very personable and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would.come again.
Was so relaxing and an easy drive to Bar Harbor/ Acadia. So nice and cozy and just overall beautiful
Alan has an amazing property which offers easy access to Acadia, local walk through the woods and peaceful relaxation. My daughter enjoyed playing the piano in our cottage. What a wonderful extra! Can't wait to visit again.
I loved the view of Acadia from the property. The short walk to the beach was easy and provided great views as well. Alan and Taylor were very helpful and provided great recommendations.
We had the most enjoyable stay at Cottage with a View. Peaceful, calming, spectacular view and charming. Perfect location to enjoy Acadia National Park without the crowds and traffic of Bar Harbor.
This was an excellent surprise. Great cabin, great view and area. Our host, Alan, is a thoughtful, engaging gentleman. Bonus of surprise live music in the barn which apparently happens at times.
Cozy clean cabin had everything we needed. The property is a large farm with amazing views. Very quiet. Lots of flowers and birds. From our deck we could see the sun rise and set, and the July 13 super moon. Our host gave us a tour of the property and a nearby trail, and he had lots of tips about Acadia Park, where to eat, and where to find good coffee. He and the folks staying in other cabins were so welcoming. We really enjoyed sitting around the fire with them at dusk.
The property is beautiful and tranquil. The host is so pleasant and kind. My husband and I loved our cabin. It had everything we needed aside from our own food, clothing and toiletries of course. The music at the barn was a really nice time and was not crowded and didn’t run late. We definitely recommend it here if you want a peaceful vacation and have a love of music.
This location was very nice. We went to see Acadia and Bar Habor but liked that this was not super close to all of that. Ellsworth was right next to us and ended up being in our opinion a better place to go out to eat.
We were met by the owner on schedule and everything went smoothly. Very friendly and informative. The cottage was perfect for what we needed. It was very clean and comfortable for us.
