Lake Ann, Michigan
Tall Pines is comprised of two private living spaces (all yours!). A cottage with 4 sleeping areas and a separate loft with two bedrooms. Located in the midst of a 22-acre hardwood forest. Pearl Lake, an 800-acre spring-fed lake, is a virtual wildlife preserve, with bald eagles, blue heron, and loons nesting here. The swimming, kayaking, fishing, and hiking are excellent. Some boats are available including two paddle boats and kayak. Sand beach, smaller than usual due to exceptionally high lake water this year. New air conditioning unit. Comfortable living rooms with big-screen TV. Dining area and well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Linens, towels, and other amenities are furnished. A large deck surrounds one cottage, great for dining outside and catching beautiful sunsets.
The main cottage has an open floor plan. There is a queen-size bed in an alcove, with a screen separating it from the living room. There is a king-size trundle bed on the four seasons porch. There are two bedrooms, one with queen-size and one with double bed downstairs, and two full baths with showers. The second cottage has two bedrooms with queen-size beds, a kitchenette, and a large sitting area with TV, an excellent haven for grandparents, and a quiet space for young children to nap.

Really enjoyed our week on Pearl Lake. Val and Mark were great. Appreciated having the pontoon boat right there that we could rent.
Kids loved the dock, jumping and fishing off it. The kayaks and peddle boat were also a huge hit, for all of us. We loved the space the property gave us, especially the sunroom. Traverse City is only a 20 min drive from the cottage. The only issue we had is the fridge in main cottage broke and it was an inconvenience to carry the perishable items back and forth to the other fridge. Mark replaced the main cottage after a day and everything was back to normal. Mark and Val were very attentive to our needs and very kind, we look forward to booking Tall Pines again soon!
Mark and Val were exceptional hosts. They were responsive to any questions/needs our group had. The lake was beautiful and serene. We had plenty of space for our group with the 2 cabins. We realize being on a lake comes with spiders but some overall deep cleaning of cobwebs/spiderwebs is needed behind beds, dressers & in cupboards. Overall we had an excellent time. The beach area was nice and plenty of equipment to use.
You could not ask for a prettier and more peaceful setting on Pearl Lake- wonderful views of the lake from the living room, deck and apartment. We enjoyed eating on the deck (three tables to accommodate us all) and relaxing on the other deck down the steps to the lake as well as the little beach a few steps away. We used the kayak and canoe every day. The main house is a bit quirky but spacious and comfortable. The apartment above the garage a few steps away was perfect for our daughter, son-in-law, and two little girls. We would definitely rent Tall Pines again for a summer vacation.
There are actually two separate buildings, it still worked for us, but the description doesn’t really state that. There is not a beach right in front of the cottage as it looks in the picture, it is off to the side of the cottage and can not be seen from the cottage, the beach slopes quite a bit. The children still enjoyed themselves, but it could be a little challenging for older guest.
This house has wonderful views of Pearl Lake, a nice small beach to use as well as a dock for swimming and boating. The included kayaks, canoe and SUP were a welcome bonus to our stay. Relaxing and quiet.
We had nine adults and two children and we had plenty of room for everyone. It was close to many fun day trips. Great vacation for everyone.
Perfect for our children and their families. Bedrooms were perfect for us. House is well equipped with all you will need for your stay. Sandy beach was absolutely amazing for the littles. We rented the pontoon for the week and enjoyed many family evenings.
There was 13 of us total between adults and young kids. The adults have vacationed together for 20 plus years and this place reminded us exactly of where we use to vacation too. The quiet, the impeccable sunrise and sunsets and being in Northern Michigan was something we will cherish forever. Val and Mark were incredible hosts and responded promptly if we had a question.
Our teenage grandchildren had a wonderful time using the kayaks, paddle boat and paddle board. Having a separate building for us worked great with our active family members. Our hosts were so nice and kind. An excellent week!
Mark and Val have a beautiful property and are excellent hosts. They answered all questions leading up to the visit. The children in our group loved fishing off the dock and playing at the little beach. The adults enjoyed the lake for swimming, boating, and we all enjoyed the proximity to Lake Michigan!
This was a great place for our large family. It was comfortable and had enough space for us all to move around. The amenities were great for the kids…they spent lots of time outdoors kayaking, swimming, fishing and paddle boarding. We had a fantastic time!
My siblings and I and our spouses and kids stayed here for a week and a great time!! We spent several days around Pearl Lake, using the multiple boats available and fishing. We also took day trips to Empire Beach, Sleeping Bear dunes, and Traverse City. A great mix of things to do - something for everyone! The cabin was well cared for, the only downside was no WiFi.
