We appreciated the cream tea on arrival and it was lovely to have freshly picked flowers in the rooms. Everything was very clean and the bed linen was good quality. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking etc. The cottage is a short walk from Braunton which was great but the public footpath was muddy in the rain. The cottage is in a lovely location and accessible to beaches, countryside and towns. We caught the bus some days as the bus stops in Braunton are walking distance. Unfortunately it rained every day so it was difficult trying to keep the front entrance clean as the door opens onto a small mat and carpet, there isn’t enough room for wet shoes, coats and a wet muddy dog. The access to the cottage is up and then down a narrow lane (not unusual for the area but a bit challenging) . Parking wasn’t easy in the allocated parking space but was ok once you got used to it. We enjoyed our week and it would have been even better if the sun had come out!

We booked Diana’s cottage for a weekend with grandchild of 10 months to attend a 90th birthday party in Braunton. First impressions were that we’d walked into faulty towers…it’s a very old building and it looks like the decor hasn’t changed much either …reminded me of my grans house when I was a kid. The views are great and it’s a large property with a huge garden area so if you want quiet then it would be great. The bed linen was clean and crisp. The house was very warm heated by a number of storage heaters and mobile heaters, some of which set too high with a toddler roaming. However for us it wasn’t great. Too many steps up and down to access kitchens, bathroom and bedroom especially with a toddler. To get to the far bedroom with the baby there were a total of seven sets of stairs/steps. There were no stair gates even on the main staircase. Extension leads and plug sockets with leads as the few sockets there are are poorly positioned. Building smelt musty and unused. Although just outside Braunton we were unable to walk to town as a family and had to use the car. The lower drive is unmade and public footpaths across farmland which were muddy, so difficult to take a buggy, and the access road in has no pavement. Position wise this house would be great for a couple who like hiking or families who use the car everywhere. To put this into context we live in a very old cottage so we are used to quirky but this was just tired and for the money ….very poor value.

Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean period cottage hidden away in Braunton, just under 20 minutes drive from Woolacombe beach. There was Prosecco and a cream tea to greet us on our arrival, with vases of fresh flowers around the cottage, which is light and airy. Appliances all top notch, and frying eggs on an AGA always makes then taste better! Lovely big walled garden with games for the children and outside seating. The covered parking space is rather tight to manoeuvre into from the sloping farm track, but there's plenty of space once you're in! Hoping to come back next year.

Had a lovely stay, it was lovely to receive home-made scones and beautiful fresh flowers in the rooms . There was everything you needed in the cottage. Only one little complaint, I felt like there should be a gate in the front garden my dog is very well controlled and would not step out of the entrance but I could imagine children and other dogs might try to get out and try to get onto the path where cars go by .

We wanted a cottage that was cosy, warm dog-friendly and in a good location for a short break over New Year. From photos and description as well as existing feedback, Diana's Cottage seemed to fit the bill. However in our opinion it fell some way short of our expectations. Firstly, on approaching the cottage and searching for the parking, we passed a derelict stone building with open storage area piled full of rubbish, open to the elements. This was not only unsightly, but a hazard, given it was on a farm. Directly next to this was the 'parking' - a small tight stone barn barely big enough to park a small car, let alone reverse and park a large 4x4. Having unloaded our 2 spaniels and found the key, we soon realised there was no entrance area/ porch to dry our dogs. The weather was terrible during our stay (we had prepared for that) and the entrance may be OK in the summer for dogs, but not in the wet muddy weather. So we tried our best with towels to keep dogs clean and dry, but a beige carpet from the entrance door into the lounge was not in my opinion, dog-friendly! From a positive side, it was a spacious and reasonably well equipped kitchen, but we were looking forward to using the Aga to further warm the house and try as we might, it would not turn on. The rest of this rather quirky cottage is heated only by electric heaters. Luckily it was relatively mild, so we weren't too cold but if it was during a colder period, it would have been freezing, especially in the loo which had no heating and an old fashioned plastic fan which made a racket in the wind! Bathroom was large but poorly furnished/ sparse but at least had a warm shower. We did not use the spare room....it was dark and freezing - very creepy too! Outside it was clearly not well kept - from kitchen window we noted a view of a septic tank, ramshackled sheds with a door hanging off and overgrown grass. The cottage garden was down the lane and over the road and again was not well tended. This was the only safe place to let our dogs roam which seemed a shame since the area to the back of the cottage could be so much tidier and a good space to use. All in all we felt it was rather run down - the curtains in the main lounge didnt fit ( about 4 inches too short!) and lack of attention to detail. We had a nice bottle of Prosecco and chocs on arrival which was very nice, but felt it could have looked a bit more 'Christmassy' - a small tree as in the photo would have been nice, for example If you are charging a prime rate for high season time, then please give us value for money!

A quirky old style little cottage if not a little dated within walking distance of Braunton town. Directions to the property good and easy to follow. Properly well provided for and spacious. Could have had a few small bowls for peanuts/crisp and a water jug. Nice enclosed private garden space to use. Very comfortable. Great morning views and a sunny bench spot outside the front door.

Idyllic private property with picturesque views, especially at sunrise. Very family friendly property with spacious rooms and bathroom. A big garden with outdoor play activities were provided. The host kindly provided scones, jam and clotted cream. All basic amenities were also provided. The cherry on top was the Aga - shame I didn’t get a chance to use it. Great location within short drive from tourist attractions. Beautiful cottage with great communication from host.

Welcomed with fresh flowers and home baked scones Clean accommodation if a little dated main bedroom good 2nd room low ceiling bit squashed for adults road to property is single track with passing places not for the faint hearted! Not safe to walk to the village Set in very quiet countryside amongst old farm buildings with its own separate garden very peaceful with footpaths We booked as property is dog friendly, would be awful to have a stair gate to stop pups going upstairs we used our dog crate which was awkward really
