Stayed Jun 26, 2024This cosy and comfortable cottage sits in an idyllic position surrounded by peaceful and attractive countryside. Nevertheless, there are several restaurants, shops and beautiful villages and towns all within a short drive of the property. (Coulon and Vouvant were some of our favourites). If you prefer to just relax outdoors on a warm, sunny afternoon or evening you will love the large and private garden. Chris and Pete are truly the most wonderful hosts, being genuinely friendly, helpful and informative. They freely offered many tips and good advice. In short we enjoyed ten wonderful days there and took away some lovely memories. Thank you Chris and Pete.

Stayed Jul 21, 2022We had a wonderful time at Christine and Peter's gite. We were very warmly welcomed and they always helped us when we needed something. (e.g. a car mechanic who saved our holiday...) everything was wonderfully clean and super equipped. A highlight is certainly the large garden with the great view over the surroundings. The weather was sunny and hot, and there were plenty of shady corners in the garden. It is also nice and cool in the beautiful old stone house. The surrounding area offers many interesting excursions to castles, monasteries, old villages, nature and the sea. If you don't mind hills, bring your bike and make exciting discoveries. The hosts have great tips. Christine and Peter are simply wonderful, mindful and warm people and the encounter was very valuable for us. We would come back anytime and hope that our future holiday plans will take us to Breuil-Barret again.

Stayed May 16, 2022This cosy little gîte/cottage has everything you need for a peaceful relaxing break. We spent 10 days here using it as a base to travel the area. The lovely hosts Christine & Peter are so welcoming and on hand if you need anything but discreet if you don’t. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Stayed Jul 31, 2021My wife, my two-year-old daughter and myself spent a glorious week at Peter and Christine's lovely gite. The welcome was warm, even if the weather wasn't. We enjoyed the garden, the barbecue and the rustic charms of the south Vendée countryside. The gite was spotlessly clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed being lulled to sleep one night by the local cows. The property is just outside a couple of interesting villages, with all facilities within a short drive. Peter and Christine went the extra mile to make sure all three of us had a relaxing break and we'd heartily recommend their gite for a break.

Stayed Aug 10, 2019very, very warm welcome in a fantastic accommodation. A cottage full of stories with a historical background. Very clean, well maintained, with everything you needed - like home. Very informative landlords who made our stay as pleasant as possible. We felt very well this week. The area is very well suited to relax and to relax. We had an antique junk just around the corner, which made us even happier. We would like to come back again. Many, many thanks to Pete + Christine LG Alfred(o) + Katrin from Heidelberg / Germany

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Gite was a great base for us to explore the area for the first time. We had a fantastic welcome from the hosts Pete and Chris and they made sue we had everything we needed right down to wine, cheese and bread as a welcome. The Gite had everything we needed and was very comfortable despite the 38 degrees of heat.. The area is very rural and very relaxing. All I can say is a big thank you to Pete and Chris for making our stay enjoyable

Stayed Jun 8, 2019A lovely setting in rural Vendee, this rustic gite is an ideal place to ‘step off the world’ for a peaceful and calm holiday. Nevertheless there is plenty to do in the area and we enjoyed our visits to Fontenay-le-Comte, (History Walk in the Old Town) La Foret-sur-Sevre, Vouvant and Mervant. For those interested there is golf at Bressuire and Mazieres-en-Gatineau. (The latter is the better of the two) The owners, Christine and Peter, were very welcoming and helpful throughout our week’s stay and as well as providing a much appreciated welcome pack gave us good advice on local visits and walks. The local Super-U at La Châtaigneraie (3 miles/5km away) provided for all our needs and there is a local tourist office there also. Thank you Chris and Pete for such a calm and restful week and for making us so welcome. We will certainly recommend Le Gite de Vio to any friends travelling in your area and would return ourselves if visiting this area again.
