Thank you for checking out our cottage. Please read this entire description before sending a booking request so everything is understood. There are important rules in the last paragraph. Please include a message with your booking request saying you read it entirely so I know we are on the same page.

Cute summer cottage back in the woods on scenic Butternut Road on Long Lake on the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca, WI with a beautiful sandy shoreline and lake bottom. We rent to families who also want pontoon rental weekly Saturday to Saturday only, June thru September. If you want shorter than a week you dont have to stay the whole week but you need to rent the whole week. We do not rent shorter than a week unless the calender shows a partial week already has been started or it's less than 2 weeks prior to your stay and the dates are still available. A short stay must fall between 2 Saturdays. 3 night minimum. If you want longer than a week you need to book 2 weeks Saturday to Saturday. We only rent with pontoon rental. Prices discussed below. If you don't want a pontoon you will need to look at other listings.

This is a two bedroom one bath that sleeps 6 comfortably and 8 if you use the pull out couch. One queen bed, one double bed, 2 twin (single) beds on the porch and a queen sofa sleeper in the livingroom. There is a full kitchen. Guests must bring their own sheets, pillow cases, towels, paper products and clean before departure. We supply cleaning supplies and garbage bags. The cottage does not have a washer or dryer.

A week pontoon rental is required when renting. It will be paid for seperately by sending us a check the same week I accept your booking for the cottage on VRBO. We do it separately so you dont have to pay vrbo fees on the pontoon, water package or kayaks. It is an 18' pontoon with the normal cushion seats (not plastic chairs). The seats are discolored now but still much better than plastic chairs. It has a newer 60 horsepower Mercury motor. The price is $600 per week plus a $200 security deposit. (That is much less than renting from any of the marinas on the lakes). Short stays are $400 for 3 days plus a $200 security deposit and $100 per day more after that up to $600. Tubing or waterskiing behind the pontoon is not allowed and it must be returned to our dock each day and not left parked anywhere else overnight. It also must be parked on the side of the dock at all times and not on the end of the dock because of the waves.

The big aluminum canoe is included. We also offer a water fun package (pictured) that includes the big blue water mat, 2 smaller blue water mats, 2 layout lounges, and a Big Mabel 2 person tube to float and play on for $150 per stay and two 10 ft kayaks for $100 each per stay. If you want the water package or kayaks let me know and we can add it to the pontoon fee. Taking our canoe or kayaks down the Crystal River is not allowed due to the rocks in the river.

The lake shore has a sandy shoreline for children to play in the sand and a sand bottom 60 ft out to the drop off for everyone to play in the water. We have a long t-style dock for fishing, sun tanning and relaxing. It is sunny on the dock all day with beautiful sunsets across the lake. The water is crystal clear. There are great places to eat or enjoy a band by boat or car along with ice cream shops and a miniature golf course. Take the canoe or rent our kayaks and enjoy a peaceful day in the Upper Chain. Hartmans Creek State Park is just down the road with miles of biking and hiking thru the woods. You will love it here. Please come and enjoy yourself.

There is a short uphill walk from the driveway to the cottage and steps to get down to the lake. Something to keep in mind for the elderly and handicapped. Renters are responsible for cleaning before departure. There is a simple list on the fridge of what to do before leaving.

Absolutely no pets of any size are allowed in the cottage, on the property or on the pontoon. Tents, campers, RV's, motorhomes, family reunions, big drinkers or big parties are also not allowed and no loud music after 10pm. This is a small family rental cottage with very nice neighbors and everyone needs to be respectful of each other. Thank you!!

The cottage has a bat problem. One night, two bats were flying around the cabin. My sister had puncture marks so she had to receive 6 anti-rabies shots. Chad came over and killed one bat but he was dismissive of the problem. He pointed out the badminton racket in the bedroom to knock down/kill bats. The cottage, facilities and pontoon boat are all rundown. Must bring your own linens and towels. Bathroom is one step above an outhouse. No washer/dryer.Lots of rules and big brother watching. The location is good. The lake is very nice - clean with sand bottom. Fishing was enjoyable, mainly small pan fish.

Classic rustic cottage in a great location with sun all day.The focus at this place is all about the lake - as it should be! Great sandy bottom beach, great amenities like kayaks and a canoe, a great dock with plenty of room to sit all day and the pontoon is so convenient to explore the rest of the connected Chain O’ Lakes. The owner was very communicative and easy to work with. We had a great stay!

Pleased to be able to squeeze in during the middle of summer. Lots of action on Long Lake. Great overall cottage. Water setting is great. Price is right for age/amenities of cottage.

I am disabled and believed this to be a walk out. 29 steps down and up made it difficult. Cottage I has no ceilings or insulation. Open electrical. Charles was very nice. Easy to work with.
