The fauna on the mountain is very diverse and rich, and encounters with Deer, Wild Boars, Urchins and other indigenous animals are frequent.

The restoration of the house was completed in 2011 with full respect for the past, using the typical materials of the region, shale and brown wood combined with glass and iron. of today.

Outside we have a swimming pool and a large wooden deck where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape around us and the strong, warm sunshine that warms us in summer. There is a beautiful and carefully tended garden with herbs and a dining area with barbecue and a large table sheltered from the sun by a century-old vine.

In the village there is a rustic restaurant where you can taste the delicacies of the region, cafes serving typical cakes and light foods. Nearby we can explore various shale villages, natural pools, and even the place where formerly made the ice that followed in summer for the court in Lisbon. The nearest village Lousã is at 11 km where there are supermarkets, restaurants and general commerce and Coimbra university city is only 40 km. Lisbon is at 2h / 200km and Porto at 1h45 / 165km.

The most unique property (and location) we’ve ever stayed in. Access to hiking trails immediately outside our gate was something we didn’t expect and allowed us to explore without having to get back into a car to find a trailhead. Alda was extremely helpful in all respects. The wild boars wandering below the village were a fascinating find.

The property was amazing located in a historic village 17th century Schist village. Our host met us there and gave us a tour of the beautiful home which he had renovated. He was very responsive to any questions during our stay. The house is three levels and the village has lots of steps so good mobility is needed.

Spacious yet cozy with a cabin feel inside. Great location with beautiful hiking trails (caution: very challenging even though labeled moderate). Great for older kids but staircases lack railings so would be unsafe for younger kids. Beautiful house with lovely garden and pool. Good communication with host.

Loved every second and minute of our time here. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the side of the mountain. Beautiful walks and hikes for all skill sets. Family like village atmosphere, a true glimpse of classic Portugal in its original ruins. Bring a fan in the summer haha

From the moment we arrived at Casa do Talasnal, we were captivated by its charm and serenity. Nestled in the lush, green mountains of the Lousã region, this quaint house offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The traditional stone architecture blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, providing a rustic yet comfortable setting. The interior of the house is a delightful surprise, mixing modern amenities with traditional decor that pays homage to its cultural heritage. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals with local ingredients found in nearby markets. The bedroom is cozy, offering breathtaking views of the mountainous landscape that are especially magical at sunrise. One of the standout features of Casa do Talasnal is its proximity to several hiking trails. These paths lead you through scenic landscapes and to historic schist villages, making it a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. After a day of exploring, there's nothing better than returning to the comfort of the house to relax by the fireplace. The hospitality provided by the hosts is top-notch; they are attentive and provide excellent recommendations for both dining and activities in the area. Their passion for the region truly enhances the overall experience. In conclusion, Casa do Talasnal is not just a place to stay; it's an experience that enriches your soul. It's ideal for those looking to immerse themselves in nature and Portuguese cultu

The house is a beautifully redone schist structure in the center of Talasnal. All the comforts of home; nicely stocked kitchen, great fireplace (heated the whole house), comfortable beds, and nice hot showers. Great hikes just walking out the front door…although we did get lost the first day. Haha. Both Joao and Alda were super responsive and so helpful. Even offering to pick us up in Candal after our very long misplaced hike. Definitely purchase any supplies before arriving as the tiny Mercado in Talasnal has only the very basics of milk and eggs. Oh and chocolate and wine. Being in the off season only a couple of restaurants are open. We had such an awesome stay, would like to have stayed longer. Yes, there are stairs in the house. As advertised it is three levels. Kitchen is downstairs, living room and one bedroom on the main level, and two bedrooms upstairs. A great space and lovely stay!

Interesting location. Property ok for campers, but for seniors presents too many challenges: many steps from parking lot to house and within home requiring one to heft ones luggage. One double room has uncomfortable bed, the other too small for two people and luggage. Entry to pool difficult with only one deep step. No rail on stairs, that were open on one side Found it too difficult so left after one day of planned four day visit - making this an expensive stay

Don't let the winding road up to Tasnal worry you. Once you arrive you find yourself in this small enchanting village with views for days! We enjoyed just basking in the sun at the pool each day. The small restaurant in the village was perfect for a light lunch and the house is well stocked with all you might need to cook at home! Had a fantastic stay!
